    Nonlinear Dynamic Surface Control of Chaos in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Based on the Minimum Weights of RBF Neural Network

    This paper is concerned with the problem of the nonlinear dynamic surface control (DSC) of chaos based on the minimum weights of RBF neural network for the permanent magnet synchronous motor system (PMSM) wherein the unknown parameters, disturbances, and chaos are presented. RBF neural network is used to approximate the nonlinearities and an adaptive law is employed to estimate unknown parameters. Then, a simple and effective controller is designed by introducing dynamic surface control technique on the basis of first-order filters. Asymptotically tracking stability in the sense of uniformly ultimate boundedness is achieved in a short time. Finally, the performance of the proposed controller is testified through simulation results

    Adaptive Sliding Mode Control of Chaos in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor via Fuzzy Neural Networks

    In this paper, based on fuzzy neural networks, we develop an adaptive sliding mode controller for chaos suppression and tracking control in a chaotic permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive system. The proposed controller consists of two parts. The first is an adaptive sliding mode controller which employs a fuzzy neural network to estimate the unknown nonlinear models for constructing the sliding mode controller. The second is a compensational controller which adaptively compensates estimation errors. For stability analysis, the Lyapunov synthesis approach is used to ensure the stability of controlled systems. Finally, simulation results are provided to verify the validity and superiority of the proposed method

    An Improved Adaptive Tracking Controller of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

    This paper proposes a new adaptive fuzzy neural control to suppress chaos and also to achieve the speed tracking control in a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive system with unknown parameters and uncertainties. The control scheme consists of fuzzy neural and compensatory controllers. The fuzzy neural controller with online parameter tuning is used to estimate the unknown nonlinear models and construct linearization feedback control law, while the compensatory controller is employed to attenuate the estimation error effects of the fuzzy neural network and ensure the robustness of the controlled system. Moreover, due to improvement in controller design, the singularity problem is surely avoided. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out to demonstrate that the proposed control scheme can successfully remove chaotic oscillations and allow the speed to follow the desired trajectory in a chaotic PMSM despite the existence of unknown models and uncertainties

    Nonsingular terminal sliding mode control for the speed regulation of permanent magnet synchronous motor with parameter uncertainties

    The drive performance of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) can be deteriorated due to various disturbances. In this paper, the problem of speed control for a PMSM system with parameter uncertainties is investigated. A new control algorithm based on nonsingular terminal sliding mode control (NTSMC) is proposed, where the controller is developed for speed regulation. Compared with conventional strategies, this new controller provides improved performance for speed regulation of PMSM when subject to parameter uncertainties, in that it achieves fast dynamic response and strong robustness. Simulation studies are conducted to verify the effectiveness of this proposed method

    AbstractIn this paper, a self organizing fuzzy sliding mode controller (SOFSMC) which emulates the fuzzy controller with gain auto-tuning is proposed for a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive. The proposed controller is used for the position control of the PMSM drive. The performance and robustness of the control system is tested for nonlinear motor load torque disturbance and parameter variations. It has a novel gain self organizing strategy in response to the transient or tracking responses requirement. To illustrate the performance of the proposed controller, the simulation studies are presented separately for the SOFSMC and the fuzzy controller with gain auto-tuning. The results are compared with each other and discussed in detail. Simulation results showing the effectiveness of the proposed control system are confirmed under the different position changes

    Nonlinear Time-Frequency Control of Permanent Magnet Electrical Machines

    Permanent magnet (PM) electrical machines have been widely adopted in industrial applications due to their advantages such as easy to control, compact in size, low in power loss, and fast in response, to name only a few. Contemporary control methods specifically designed for the control of PM electrical machines only focus on controlling their time-domain behaviors while completely ignored their frequency-domain characteristics. Hence, when a PM electrical machine is highly nonlinear, none of them performs well. To make up for the drawback and hence improve the performance of PM electrical machines under high nonlinearity, the novel nonlinear time-frequency control concept is adopted to develop viable nonlinear control schemes for PM electrical machines. In this research, three nonlinear time-frequency control schemes are developed for the speed and position control of PM brushed DC motors, speed and position control of PM synchronous motors, and chaos suppression of PM synchronous motors, respectively. The most significant feature of the demonstrated control schemes are their ability in generating a proper control effort that controls the system response in both the time and frequency domains. Simulation and experiment results have verified the effectiveness and superiority of the presented control schemes. The nonlinear time-frequency control scheme is therefore believed to be suitable for PM electrical machine control and is expected to have a positive impact on the broader application of PM electrical machines

    Application of Vector Control to Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors Using Chaos Control

    This paper presents the idea of vector control for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) based on chaos theorem, using chaos controller. PMSM will demonstrate chaotic phenomena when its parameters fall into a certain area. To achieve this aim, the sub-system of controller has been designed by considering block diagram structure of vector control for PMSM and by applying the setting of Lyapunov exponents method. Also, asymptotical stability of closed loop system with given controller is shown, using the direct Lyapunov method. The performance of designed controller in chaotic mode is compared with conventional vector control methods. Also, the normal mode for PMSM is considered and the performance of controller is compared. Simulation results indicate that not only does this controller eliminate the chaos in chaotic mode and have good performance but also is able to control the system in normal mode by using almost the smaller control signal effort

    Parameter Estimation for PMSM based on a Back Propagation Neural Network Optimized by Chaotic Artificial Fish Swarm Algorithm

    Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(PMSM) control system with strong nonlinearity makes it difficult to accurately identify motor parameters such as stator winding, dq axis inductance, and rotor flux linkage. Aiming at the premature convergence of traditional Back Propagation Neural Network(BPNN) in PMSM motor parameter identification, a new method of PMSM motor parameter identification is proposed. It uses Chaotic Artificial Fish Swarm Algorithm(CAFSA) to optimize the initial weights and thresholds of BPNN, and then strengthens training by BPNN algorithm. Thus, the global optimal network parameters are obtained by using the global optimization of CAFSA and the local search ability of BPNN. The simulation results and experimental data show that the initial value sensitivity of the network model optimized by CAFS-BPNN Algorithm is weak, the parameter setting is robust, and the system stability is good under complex conditions. Compared with other intelligent algorithms, such as RSL and PSO, CAFS-BPNNA has high identification accuracy and fast convergence speed for PMSM motor parameters

    Rikitake dynamo system (1958) is a famous two-disk dynamo model that is capable of executing nonlinear chaotic oscillations similar to the chaotic oscillations as revealed by palaeomagnetic study. First, we detail the Rikitake dynamo system, its signal plots and important dynamic properties. Then a circuit design using Multisim is carried out for the Rikitake dynamo system. New synchronous quasi-sliding mode control (QSMC) for Rikitake chaotic system is studied in this paper. Furthermore, the selection on switching surface and the existence of QSMC scheme is also designed in this paper. The efficiency of the QSMC scheme is illustrated with MATLAB plots

    Terminal sliding mode control strategy design for second-order nonlinear system

    This study mainly focuses on the terminal sliding mode control (TSMC) strategy design, including an adaptive terminal sliding mode control (ATSMC) and an exact-estimator-based terminal sliding mode control (ETSMC) for second-order nonlinear dynamical systems. In the ATSMC system, an adaptive bound estimation for the lump uncertainty is proposed to ensure the system stability. On the other hand, an exact estimator is designed for exact estimating system uncertainties to solve the trouble of chattering phenomena caused by a sign function in ATSMC law in despite of the utilization of a fixed value or an adaptive tuning algorithm for the lumped uncertainty bound. The effectiveness of the proposed control schemes can be verified in numerical simulations.<br /
