    Adaptive Reversible Data Hiding Scheme for Digital Images Based on Histogram Shifting

    Existing histogram based reversible data hiding schemes use only absolute difference values between the neighboring pixels of a cover image. In these schemes, maxima and minima points at maximum distance are selected in all the blocks of the image which causes shifting of the large number of pixels to embed the secret data. This shifting produces more degradation in the visual quality of the marked image. In this work, the cover image is segmented into blocks, which are classified further into complex and smooth blocks using a threshold value. This threshold value is optimized using firefly algorithm. Simple difference values between the neighboring pixels of complex blocks have been utilized to embed the secret data bits. The closest maxima and minima points in the histogram of the difference blocks are selected so that number of shifted pixels get reduced, which further reduces the distortion in the marked image. Experimental results prove that the proposed scheme has better performance as compared to the existing schemes. The scheme shows minimum distortion and large embedding capacity. Novelty of work is the usage of negative difference values of complex blocks for secret data embedding with the minimal number of pixel shifting

    Medical images can be intentionally or unintentionally manipulated both within the secure medical system environment and outside, as images are viewed, extracted and transmitted. Many organisations have invested heavily in Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), which are intended to facilitate data security. However, it is common for images, and records, to be extracted from these for a wide range of accepted practices, such as external second opinion, transmission to another care provider, patient data request, etc. Therefore, confirming trust within medical imaging workflows has become essential. Digital watermarking has been recognised as a promising approach for ensuring the authenticity and integrity of medical images. Authenticity refers to the ability to identify the information origin and prove that the data relates to the right patient. Integrity means the capacity to ensure that the information has not been altered without authorisation. This paper presents a survey of medical images watermarking and offers an evident scene for concerned researchers by analysing the robustness and limitations of various existing approaches. This includes studying the security levels of medical images within PACS system, clarifying the requirements of medical images watermarking and defining the purposes of watermarking approaches when applied to medical images

    Efficient Reversible Watermarking Technique with Contrast Enhancement for Color Images

    In this paper histogram bin shifting based reversible data hiding algorithm for color images has been proposed. In this technique binary bits are embedded directly by addition and subtraction in two highest bin chosen and this process is repeated in modified histogram. A location map is generated by pre -processing to prevent the unnecessary overflow and underflow. All other pixels except two highest bins are also manipulated for contrast enhancement. Embedding of binary secret data is done on the each color component (Red, Green, and Blue) of color images. Secret Binary data bits are embedded in random permutation manner to secure the data from unauthorized receiver. Extraction of embedded binary bits is done by inverse algorithm of embedding process and original image is recovered by reverse manipulation embedding process. This proposed algorithm provide high embedding capacity with low distortion of original quality of image which may be used in different medical, military and satellite application.     REVERSIBLE WATERMARKING APPROACH FOR HEALTH INFORMATION SYSTEM

    Health Information System [HIS] are gaining augmented acceptability and wide popularity as exchange of medical information and medical images between the healthcare centres are boosted up, which makes reversible watermarking emerge as an upcoming thrust area of research. This paper presents an efficient reversible approach for interleaving patient information in the form of Electro Cardio Graph [ECG] signal and hospital logo in the medical images. The proposed approach based on Discrete Wavelet Transform [DWT], utilizes the peak point of the difference image histogram for hiding the credentials of the corresponding patients. The superiority of the proposed approach is validated using 60 case studies of various modalities (CT, MRI, MRA and US) and comparing it with the spatial domain approach. Experimental results show that the histogram based approach using DWT gives high quality of watermarked image even after hiding the ECG signal encrypted with Adaptive Delta Modulation [ADM] and binary hospital logo. The high values of PSNR ensure the perceptual integrity, authentication of the patient’s data and bandwidth reduction of the medical images as compared to the state of art methods

    ABSTRACT: Data security and data integrity are the two challenging areas for research. There are so many research is progressing on the field like internet security, steganography, cryptography. Data hiding are a group of techniques used to put a secure data in a host media with small deterioration in host and the means to extract the secure data afterwards. Reversible data hiding is a technique to embed additional message into some distortion-unacceptable cover media, such as military or medical images, with a reversible manner so that the original cover content can be perfectly restored after extraction of the hidden message. The reversibility means not only embedding data but also original image can be precisely recovered in the extracting stage. Most hiding techniques perform data embedding by altering the contents of a host media. These types of data hiding techniques are thus irreversible. However in a number of domains such as military, legal and medical imaging although some embedding distortion is admissible, permanent loss of signal fidelity is undesirable. This highlights the need for Reversible (Lossless) data embedding techniques. This paper gives a review on various reversible data hiding techniques and also proposes a novel approach for reversible data hiding using visual cryptography. This involves no use of keys thus keeping the computation cost for encryption/decryption low. This scheme applies a method of vacating the room for data prior to the image encryption used to hide the secret data. By reversing the order of encryption and data hiding we overcome the difficulty of finding the room for data from already encrypted image
