Adaptive Weighted Morphology Detection Algorithm of Plane Object in Docking Guidance System
In this paper, we presented an image segmentation algorithm based on adaptive weighted mathematical morphology edge detectors. The performance of the proposed algorithm has been demonstrated on the Lena image. The input of the proposed algorithm is a grey level image. The image was first processed by the mathematical morphological closing and dilation residue edge detector to enhance the edge features and sketch out the contour of the image, respectively. Then the adaptive weight SE operation was applied to the edge-extracted image to fuse edge gaps and hill up holds. Experimental results show it can not only primely extract detail edge, but also superbly preserve integer effect comparative to classical edge detection algorithm
Adaptive continuous-scale morphology for matrix fields
In this article we consider adaptive, PDE-driven morphological operations for 3D matrix fields arising e.g. in diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging (DT-MRI). The anisotropic evolution is steered by a matrix constructed from a structure tensor for matrix valued data. An important novelty is an intrinsically one-dimensional directional variant of the matrix-valued upwind schemes such as the Rouy-Tourin scheme. It enables our method to complete or enhance anisotropic structures effectively. A special advantage of our approach is that upwind schemes are utilised only in their basic one-dimensional version. No higher dimensional variants of the schemes themselves are required. Experiments with synthetic and real-world data substantiate the gap-closing and line-completing properties of the proposed method
Computer Aided Diagnosis - Medical Image Analysis Techniques
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women worldwide. Mammography is the basic tool available for screening to find the abnormality at the earliest. It is shown to be effective in reducing mortality rates caused by breast cancer. Mammograms produced by low radiation X-ray are difficult to interpret, especially in screening context. The sensitivity of screening depends on image quality and unclear evidence available in the image. The radiologists find it difficult to interpret the digital mammography; hence, computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) technology helps to improve the performance of radiologists by increasing sensitivity rate in a cost-effective way. Current research is focused toward the designing and development of medical imaging and analysis system by using digital image processing tools and the techniques of artificial intelligence, which can detect the abnormality features, classify them, and provide visual proofs to the radiologists. The computer-based techniques are more suitable for detection of mass in mammography, feature extraction, and classification. The proposed CAD system addresses the several steps such as preprocessing, segmentation, feature extraction, and classification. Though commercial CAD systems are available, identification of subtle signs for breast cancer detection and classification remains difficult. The proposed system presents some advanced techniques in medical imaging to overcome these difficulties
Amoeba Techniques for Shape and Texture Analysis
Morphological amoebas are image-adaptive structuring elements for
morphological and other local image filters introduced by Lerallut et al. Their
construction is based on combining spatial distance with contrast information
into an image-dependent metric. Amoeba filters show interesting parallels to
image filtering methods based on partial differential equations (PDEs), which
can be confirmed by asymptotic equivalence results. In computing amoebas, graph
structures are generated that hold information about local image texture. This
paper reviews and summarises the work of the author and his coauthors on
morphological amoebas, particularly their relations to PDE filters and texture
analysis. It presents some extensions and points out directions for future
investigation on the subject.Comment: 38 pages, 19 figures v2: minor corrections and rephrasing, Section 5
