    Fecha de Lectura de Tesis: 9 noviembre 2018.Over the past decade the rapid rise of creating data in all domains of knowledge such as traffic, medicine, social network, industry, etc., has highlighted the need for enhancing the process of analyzing large data volumes, in order to be able to manage them with more easiness and in addition, discover new relationships which are hidden in them Optimization problems, which are commonly found in current industry, are not unrelated to this trend, therefore Multi-Objective Optimization Algorithms (MOA) should bear in mind this new scenario. This means that, MOAs have to deal with problems, which have either various data sources (typically streaming) of huge amount of data. Indeed these features, in particular, are found in Dynamic Multi-Objective Problems (DMOPs), which are related to Big Data optimization problems. Mostly with regards to velocity and variability. When dealing with DMOPs, whenever there exist changes in the environment that affect the solutions of the problem (i.e., the Pareto set, the Pareto front, or both), therefore in the fitness landscape, the optimization algorithm must react to adapt the search to the new features of the problem. Big Data analytics are long and complex processes therefore, with the aim of simplify them, a series of steps are carried out through. A typical analysis is composed of data collection, data manipulation, data analysis and finally result visualization. In the process of creating a Big Data workflow the analyst should bear in mind the semantics involving the problem domain knowledge and its data. Ontology is the standard way for describing the knowledge about a domain. As a global target of this PhD Thesis, we are interested in investigating the use of the semantic in the process of Big Data analysis, not only focused on machine learning analysis, but also in optimization

    Process Knowledge-guided Autonomous Evolutionary Optimization for Constrained Multiobjective Problems

    Various real-world problems can be attributed to constrained multi-objective optimization problems. Although there are various solution methods, it is still very challenging to automatically select efficient solving strategies for constrained multi-objective optimization problems. Given this, a process knowledge-guided constrained multi-objective autonomous evolutionary optimization method is proposed. Firstly, the effects of different solving strategies on population states are evaluated in the early evolutionary stage. Then, the mapping model of population states and solving strategies is established. Finally, the model recommends subsequent solving strategies based on the current population state. This method can be embedded into existing evolutionary algorithms, which can improve their performances to different degrees. The proposed method is applied to 41 benchmarks and 30 dispatch optimization problems of the integrated coal mine energy system.     DISSECTION OF STRESS RESPONSE NETWORKS REGULATING MULTIPLE STRESSES IN RICE

    Important food crops like rice are constantly exposed to various stresses that can have devastating effect on their survival and productivity. Being sessile, these highly evolved organisms have developed elaborate molecular machineries to sense a mixture of stress signals and elicit a precise response to minimize the damage. However, recent discoveries revealed that the interplay of these stress regulatory and signaling molecules is highly complex and remains largely unknown. In this work, we conducted large scale analysis of differential gene expression using advanced computational methods to dissect regulation of stress response which is at the heart of all molecular changes leading to the observed phenotypic susceptibility. One of the most important stress conditions in terms of loss of productivity is drought. We performed genomic and proteomic analysis of epigenetic and miRNA mechanisms in regulation of drought responsive genes in rice and found subsets of genes with striking properties. Overexpressed genesets included higher number of epigenetic marks, miRNA targets and transcription factors which regulate drought tolerance. On the other hand, underexpressed genesets were poor in above features but were rich in number of metabolic genes with multiple co-expression partners contributing majorly towards drought resistance. Identification and characterization of the patterns exhibited by differentially expressed genes hold key to uncover the synergistic and antagonistic components of the cross talk between stress response mechanisms. We performed meta-analysis on drought and bacterial stresses in rice and Arabidopsis, and identified hundreds of shared genes. We found high level of conservation of gene expression between these stresses. Weighted co-expression network analysis detected two tight clusters of genes made up of master transcription factors and signaling genes showing strikingly opposite expression status. To comprehensively identify the shared stress responsive genes between multiple abiotic and biotic stresses in rice, we performed meta-analyses of microarray studies from seven different abiotic and six biotic stresses separately and found more than thirteen hundred shared stress responsive genes. Various machine learning techniques utilizing these genes classified the stresses into two major classes\u27 namely abiotic and biotic stresses and multiple classes of individual stresses with high accuracy and identified the top genes showing distinct patterns of expression. Functional enrichment and co-expression network analysis revealed the different roles of plant hormones, transcription factors in conserved and non-conserved genesets in regulation of stress response

    DAMSS-2018 is the jubilee 10th international workshop on data analysis methods for software systems, organized in Druskininkai, Lithuania, at the end of the year. The same place and the same time every year. Ten years passed from the first workshop. History of the workshop starts from 2009 with 16 presentations. The idea of such workshop came up at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics. Lithuanian Academy of Sciences and the Lithuanian Computer Society supported this idea. This idea got approval both in the Lithuanian research community and abroad. The number of this year presentations is 81. The number of registered participants is 113 from 13 countries. In 2010, the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics became a member of Vilnius University, the largest university of Lithuania. In 2017, the institute changes its name into the Institute of Data Science and Digital Technologies. This name reflects recent activities of the institute. The renewed institute has eight research groups: Cognitive Computing, Image and Signal Analysis, Cyber-Social Systems Engineering, Statistics and Probability, Global Optimization, Intelligent Technologies, Education Systems, Blockchain Technologies. The main goal of the workshop is to introduce the research undertaken at Lithuanian and foreign universities in the fields of data science and software engineering. Annual organization of the workshop allows the fast interchanging of new ideas among the research community. Even 11 companies supported the workshop this year. This means that the topics of the workshop are actual for business, too. Topics of the workshop cover big data, bioinformatics, data science, blockchain technologies, deep learning, digital technologies, high-performance computing, visualization methods for multidimensional data, machine learning, medical informatics, ontological engineering, optimization in data science, business rules, and software engineering. Seeking to facilitate relations between science and business, a special session and panel discussion is organized this year about topical business problems that may be solved together with the research community.
