    WebTailor: Internet Service for Salient and Automatic User Interest Profiles

    Website personalization systems seek to give users unique, tailored content and experiences on the Internet. A key feature of these systems is a user profile that represents each user in a way that distinguishes them from others. In current personalization systems, the data used to create these profiles is extremely limited, which leads to a host of problems and ineffectual personalization. The main goal of this thesis is to improve these personalization systems by addressing their lack of data and its poor quality, breadth, and depth. This is accomplished by analyzing and classifying the content of each user\u27s Internet browsing activity, rather than just their activity on a single website, to autonomously build persistent, ontology-based user profiles. Furthermore, these profiles are built and stored on a remote server, which allows them to be easily made available to approved websites in the interest of providing the data to enable accurate, relevant, and up-to-date personalization

    Personalized News Recommender using Twitter

    Online news reading has become a widely popular way to read news articles from news sources around the globe. With the enormous amount of news articles available, users are easily swamped by information of little interest to them. News recommender systems are one approach to help users find interesting articles to read. News recommender systems present the articles to individual users based on their interests rather than presenting articles in order of their occurrence. In this thesis, we present our research on developing personalized news recommendation system with the help of a popular micro-blogging service Twitter . The news articles are ranked based on the popularity of the article that is identified with the help of the tweets from the Twitter\u27s public timeline. Also, user profiles are built based on the user\u27s interests and the news articles are ranked by matching the characteristics of the user profile. With the help of these two approaches, we present a hybrid news recommendation model that recommends interesting news stories to the user based on their popularity and their relevance to the user profile

    Optical tomography: Image improvement using mixed projection of parallel and fan beam modes

    Mixed parallel and fan beam projection is a technique used to increase the quality images. This research focuses on enhancing the image quality in optical tomography. Image quality can be defined by measuring the Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Normalized Mean Square Error (NMSE) parameters. The findings of this research prove that by combining parallel and fan beam projection, the image quality can be increased by more than 10%in terms of its PSNR value and more than 100% in terms of its NMSE value compared to a single parallel beam

    Dominated destinations of tourist inside Iraq using personal information and frequency of travel

    Tourism today is one of the most important economic and social sectors in the world, which plays a prominent role in the development of countries. This importance has grown as an industry through the social media networks.In this paper, a proposed method has been introduced distinguish the main factors that impact the Frequency of Travel (FoT) among Iraq local tourists. Application (API) graphics and scrapy are utilized to collect information from TripAdvisor social network in a period of (2015-2018). The collected information are reprocessed and coded for the specified nominal data using tied rank. It is important to note that the adopted technique does not lose any data about the attribute and brings different properties beforehand obscure. Data mining ordinal logistic regression is used to extract user's behavior upon local tourism in Iraq. The expected outcome of this work is to discover out the effect of personal information and the type of places on the selection of the local touristic places in Iraq. The collected information was exploited to know the preferred local touristic trends, because there are no statistics on the number of domestic tourists in Iraq. The proposed model was used for analyzing personal information and types of preferred tourism places as a factors affecting frequency of travel in Iraq. The obtained results show the prediction of preferred touristic places by tourists in Iraq

    Folksonomy: the New Way to Serendipity

    Folksonomy expands the collaborative process by allowing contributors to index content. It rests on three powerful properties: the absence of a prior taxonomy, multi-indexation and the absence of thesaurus. It concerns a more exploratory search than an entry in a search engine. Its original relationship-based structure (the three-way relationship between users, content and tags) means that folksonomy allows various modalities of curious explorations: a cultural exploration and a social exploration. The paper has two goals. Firstly, it tries to draw a general picture of the various folksonomy websites. Secundly, since labelling lacks any standardisation, folksonomies are often under threat of invasion by noise.     Multi-wavelength infrared imaging computer systems and applications

    This dissertation presents the development of three computer systems for multi-wavelength thermal imaging. Two computer systems were developed for the multi-wavelength imaging pyrometers (M-WIPs) that yield non-contact temperature measurements by remotely sensing the surface of objects with unknown wavelength-dependent emissivity. These M-WIP computer systems represent the state-of-art development in remote temperature measurement system based on the multi-wavelength approach. The dissertation research includes M-WIP computer system integration, software development, performance evaluation, and also applications in monitoring and control of temperature distribution of silicon wafers in a rapid thermal process system. The two M-WIPs are capable of data acquisition, signal processing, system calibration, radiometric measurement, parallel processing and process control. Temperature measurement experiments demonstrated the accuracy of ±1°C against blackbody and ±4°C for colorbody objects. Various algorithms were developed and implemented, including real-time two-point non-uniformity correction, thermal image pseudocoloring, PC to SUN workstation data transfer, automatic IR camera integration time control, and radiometric measurement parallel processing. A third computer system was developed for the demonstration of a 3-color InGaAs FPA which can provide images with information in three different IR wavelength range simultaneously. Numbers of functions were developed to demonstrate and characterize 3-color FPAs, and the system was delivered to be used by the 3-color FPA manufacturer
