A separate least squares algorithm for efficient arithmetic coding in lossless image compression

    Get PDF
The overall performance of discrete wavelet transforms for losssless image compression may be further improved by properly designing efficient entropy coders. In this paper a novel technique is proposed for the implementation of context-based adaptive arithmetic entropy coding. It is based on the prediction of the value of the current transform coefficient. The proposed algorithm employs a weighted least squares method applied separately for the HH, HL and LH bands of each level of the multiresolution structure, in order to achieve appropriate context selection for arithmetic coding. Experimental results illustrate and evaluate the performance of the proposed technique for lossless image compression

Transmission of compressed multimedia data over wireless channels using space-time OFDM with adaptive beamforming

The transmission of multimedia data over wireless channels poses significant constraints on the communication system bandwidth, energy, and latency. To overcome these bottlenecks to wireless multimedia communication, various channel coding and transmit diversity schemes have been proposed. In previous work, we have shown that space-time block-coding (STBC) with adaptive beamforming (STBC-OFDM-AB) is an effective technique for improving the error-rate performance and channel capacity of wireless multimedia systems utilizing OFDM. In this paper, we introduce a transmission system for multimedia communication employing STBC-OFDM with adaptive beamforming incorporating a perceptually-based image compression coder - which consists of a 2-D discrete wavelet transform (DWT), an adaptive quantizer (with thresholding) and variable-length entropy encoding. Initial simulation results based on the transmission of compressed images, showed that the performance improvement introduced by STBC-OFDM-AB can be readily observed, and compared to other transmission methods is better suited to wireless multimedia communication

Child labour: the case study in Bangladesh

    Get PDF
Child labour involves of person that age below than 17 years old. Child labour often happen in poor countries such as Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, the issue of child labour might be the biggest issue. Bangladesh come up with Bangladesh Labour Act (BLA) that did not allow any person age below from fourteen years old to work (Nawshin et al, 2019). One of the aim or purpose of this act is to prevent teen workers in order to get the proper payment of any work. This is because when organization use child labour, they might be paid at lower rate because children usually do not have much responsible in their family compared to teen workers. This indirectly cause an economic matter in a family

Perceptual Copyright Protection Using Multiresolution Wavelet-Based Watermarking And Fuzzy Logic

In this paper, an efficiently DWT-based watermarking technique is proposed to embed signatures in images to attest the owner identification and discourage the unauthorized copying. This paper deals with a fuzzy inference filter to choose the larger entropy of coefficients to embed watermarks. Unlike most previous watermarking frameworks which embedded watermarks in the larger coefficients of inner coarser subbands, the proposed technique is based on utilizing a context model and fuzzy inference filter by embedding watermarks in the larger-entropy coefficients of coarser DWT subbands. The proposed approaches allow us to embed adaptive casting degree of watermarks for transparency and robustness to the general image-processing attacks such as smoothing, sharpening, and JPEG compression. The approach has no need the original host image to extract watermarks. Our schemes have been shown to provide very good results in both image transparency and robustness.Comment: 13 pages, 7 figure
