Adaptable Value-Set Analysis for Low-Level Code
This paper presents a framework for binary code analysis that uses only SAT-based algorithms. Within the framework, incremental SAT solving is used to perform a form of weakly relational value-set analysis in a novel way, connecting the expressiveness of the value sets to computational complexity. Another key feature of our framework is that it translates the semantics of binary code into an intermediate representation. This allows for a straightforward translation of the program semantics into Boolean logic and eases the implementation efforts, too. We show that leveraging the efficiency of contemporary SAT solvers allows us to prove interesting properties

Improving perceptual multimedia quality with an adaptable communication protocol
Copyrights @ 2005 University Computing Centre ZagrebInnovations and developments in networking technology have been driven by technical considerations with little analysis of the benefit to the user. In this paper we argue that network parameters that define the network Quality of Service (QoS) must be driven by user-centric parameters such as user expectations and requirements for multimedia transmitted over a network. To this end a mechanism for mapping user-oriented parameters to network QoS parameters is outlined. The paper surveys existing methods for mapping user requirements to the network. An adaptable communication system is implemented to validate the mapping. The architecture adapts to varying network conditions caused by congestion so as to maintain user expectations and requirements. The paper also surveys research in the area of adaptable communications architectures and protocols. Our results show that such a user-biased approach to networking does bring tangible benefits to the user
Politeknik Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Selangor.
pendidikan
Credit Assignment in Adaptive Evolutionary Algorithms
In this paper, a new method for assigning credit to search\ud
operators is presented. Starting with the principle of optimizing\ud
search bias, search operators are selected based on an ability to\ud
create solutions that are historically linked to future generations.\ud
Using a novel framework for defining performance\ud
measurements, distributing credit for performance, and the\ud
statistical interpretation of this credit, a new adaptive method is\ud
developed and shown to outperform a variety of adaptive and\ud
non-adaptive competitors
Domino: exploring mobile collaborative software adaptation
Social Proximity Applications (SPAs) are a promising new area for ubicomp software that exploits the everyday changes in the proximity of mobile users. While a number of applications facilitate simple file sharing between coâpresent users, this paper explores opportunities for recommending and sharing software between users. We describe an architecture that allows the recommendation of new system components from systems with similar histories of use. Software components and usage histories are exchanged between mobile users who are in proximity with each other. We apply this architecture in a mobile strategy game in which players adapt and upgrade their game using components from other players, progressing through the game through sharing tools and history. More broadly, we discuss the general application of this technique as well as the security and privacy challenges to such an approach
Re-engineering a nanodosimetry Monte Carlo code into Geant4: software design and first results
A set of physics models for nanodosimetry simulation is being re-engineered
for use in Geant4-based simulations. This extension of Geant4 capabilities is
part of a larger scale R&D project for multi-scale simulation involving
adaptable, co-working condensed and discrete transport schemes. The project in
progress reengineers the physics modeling capabilities associated with an
existing FORTRAN track-structure code for nanodosimetry into a software design
suitable to collaborate with an object oriented simulation kernel. The first
experience and results of the ongoing re-engineering process are presented.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures and images, to appear in proceedings of the
