    In lieu of an abstract, below is the first paragraph of the paper. From academia to corporations, the argument for revisiting synergy has been strengthened, making the term a common buzzword of the 21 \u271 century (Liedtka 45). On the other hand, what is not so common is achieving this state of high performance. According to skeptic Harold Greneen, synergy is a carcinogenic slice of baloney tliat serves no other purpose than to bring false hope to a capitalist America (qtd. in Liedtka 45). However, at a time when there is an increase in business consolidations and complex technology, the need for synergy in work environments is all too vital, according to the sources cited in this paper. This research paper addresses the argument for synergy and its place in the team culture of America, specifically in the advertising industry and academia. This study applies the team effectiveness theory using the Team Performance Model (TPM) to instruct and evaluate teamwork within advertising agencies and academia. It is through the fundamental education and understanding of the team effectiveness theory and the Team Performance Model (TPM) that teams will be able to increase their team performance and achieve synergy

    This three-year project's main objective was: "How can business/industry realise a sustainable society?" The two goals for achieving the main objective were: (1) to identify promising business models for realising a sustainable society and develop relevant methods to quantify their potential while proposing measures to promote such businesses, and (2) to clarify the conditions of business/industry activities and a direction of local development that are suitable for sustainable local society. "Research on Environmentally-Sound Business Models (BM Research)" and the "Research on Environmentally-Sound Local Industry System (LIS Research)" were implemented with these two goals in mind. They were reinforced with associated research to accomplish the goals based on the results of a progress review that was made on completion of the first half of the Third Phase

    This study was on the role of university-industry linkage in creating a functional technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Nigeria. The study specifically looked into the concept of TVET, types of university-industry linkage, reasons for university-industry linkage, current status of university-industry linkage, challenges mitigating university-industry linkage, strategies for effective university-industry linkage in the universities and the role of viable university-industry linkage in creating a functional technical and vocational education and training. It was noted that in order to build a viable linkage between the universities and the industries, legislators at both federal and state levels need to come up with laws and policies that will foster university-industry linkage with clear implementation strategies, compulsory periodic internship for both lecturers and students, integration of professionals from the industries in the TVET curricula planning and implementation processes. It was concluded that when a strong linkage is established between the universities and industries, TVET will receive the dividends and as such be made functional and effective

    Globalisation has led to new health challenges for the 21st Century. These challenges have transnational implications and involve a large range of actors and stakeholders. National governments no longer hold the sole responsibility for the health of their people. These changes in health trends have led to the rise of Global Health Governance as a theoretical notion for health policy-making. The Southeast Asian region is particularly prone to public health threats and it is for this reason that this brief looks at the potential of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as a regional organisation to take a lead in health cooperation. Through a comparative study between the regional mechanisms for health cooperation of the European Union (EU) and ASEAN, we look at how ASEAN could maximise its potential as a global health actor. Regional institutions and a network of civil society organisations are crucial in relaying global initiatives for health, and ensuring their effective implementation at the national level. While the EU benefits from higher degrees of integration and involvement in the sector of health policy making, ASEAN’s role as a regional body for health governance will depend both on greater horizontal and vertical regional integration through enhanced regional mechanisms and a wider matrix of cooperation

    A sustainable infrastructure delivery model: value added strategy in the Nigerian construction industry

    The current economy reforms strategy by the Nigerian government promotes competition among private contractors, which are comprised of local and foreign contractors, in order to achieve value added infrastructure delivery. Resulting competitive bidding processes between multinational construction corporations (MCC) and local construction contractors (LCC) has had mixed comments among stakeholders, with a need for a more sustainable and holistic value approach identified. The aim of this research is to develop a sustainable infrastructure delivery model (SID). The key research methodology is based on extensive literature review and questionnaire survey. SID is developed on the principles and philosophy of soft system methodology (SSM) and analytic network process (ANP). In order to evaluate the significance of MCC and LCC through SID model, questionnaire surveys were conducted. Feedback was collected from experts in the Nigerian construction sector who assessed the relative importance of formulated decision criteria, which were sought under 7 key factors. Data simulation revealed that, through competitive bidding, significant achievements have been made in the delivery of constructed facilities. It was also found that the policy lacked holistic value principles that integrated ethical stance and monetary returns on investment. In this study, SID framework has been presented, clearly showing needs for integration of economic and ethical stances in order to achieve a sustainable infrastructure delivery

    This paper is based on the conceptual and theoretical analysis regarding the triple helix model as the demand or a challenge for developing country, particularly the Indonesian case study under investigation. The paper will discuss the essential stages required to establish a robust synergy between three different actors: the university, the industry and the government alongside the local context in Indonesia, mainly the role of university in providing help for SMEs in Indonesia together with the government or other institutional developing agencies. This paper will also explore the promotion of SMEs by clustering approach as the fact that Indonesian SMEs are scattered across the region. Furthermore, this paper will analyse the potential strengths and weaknesses within Indonesian SMEs, of setting up appropriate strategic movements for the future of the triple helix paradigm itself.     This research explores the importance of integrating environmental interests into the legal system, advocating justice for nature, and realizing a greener and more sustainable world. Based on a comprehensive literature review and critical analysis of relevant sources, this study identifies the key elements needed, namely effective environmental law enforcement mechanisms, active participation of stakeholders, and synergies that link community participation with environmental law awareness. A reliable law enforcement mechanism is a key pillar in environmental protection, involving a fair and efficient judicial process supported by robust law enforcement agencies and adequate sanctions. Stakeholders, including governments, law enforcement agencies, civil society, and the private sector, play a central role in policy formation, implementation monitoring, participation in decision-making, environmental advocacy, and increased awareness of environmental law. The combination of active community participation and environmental law awareness has a positive impact on maintaining environmental sustainability, with community participation covering environmental management, engaging in decision-making, and community empowerment. In contrast, environmental law awareness strengthens law enforcement, understands environmental rights and obligations, and encourages sustainable behavioral change. Thus, this comprehensive integration paves the way to a world in which the interests of nature are heard and protected, creating a more equitable and sustainable global ecosystem

    Over the past two decades the field of computational science and engineering (CSE) has penetrated both basic and applied research in academia, industry, and laboratories to advance discovery, optimize systems, support decision-makers, and educate the scientific and engineering workforce. Informed by centuries of theory and experiment, CSE performs computational experiments to answer questions that neither theory nor experiment alone is equipped to answer. CSE provides scientists and engineers of all persuasions with algorithmic inventions and software systems that transcend disciplines and scales. Carried on a wave of digital technology, CSE brings the power of parallelism to bear on troves of data. Mathematics-based advanced computing has become a prevalent means of discovery and innovation in essentially all areas of science, engineering, technology, and society; and the CSE community is at the core of this transformation. However, a combination of disruptive developments---including the architectural complexity of extreme-scale computing, the data revolution that engulfs the planet, and the specialization required to follow the applications to new frontiers---is redefining the scope and reach of the CSE endeavor. This report describes the rapid expansion of CSE and the challenges to sustaining its bold advances.
