COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF ROMANIAN AND GERMAN NEGOTIATION STYLE BASED ON CULTURAL DIFFERENCES

    Get PDF
As a result of intensified international business relations and a unified European space the cultural background of economic agents in the field of international business is getting an increasing importance and leaves to a certain extent its marks on business behaviour of these individuals. Thus from the sixties of the past century onwards the problem of cultural differences and their influence upon professional relations lie in the centre of attention of several researchers like E.T. Hall, Geert Hofstede and others. In business negotiations one may observe a double conditioning of people’s negotiation style, at one hand it is the result of individual characteristics like personality, education, experience, personal charisma, but on the other hand there is a strong impact of collective factors, too such as the mental programming of each nation known under the name of culture. In the following study we undertake a Comparative/contrastive analysis of German and Romanian – culturally conditioned – negotiation style hoping to avoid at the same time to fall into the trap of stereotypy

Depoetize the Universe : manifestoes of Romanian Surrealism

    Get PDF
The main aim of my article is to investigate, or simply to highlight the evolution of the twofold character of Surrealism-influenced, and later Surrealist, manifestos in three consecutive stages of the avant-garde movement in Romania. I apply the notion of the avant-garde manifesto developped by Benedikt Hjartarson in his essay “Myths of Rupture. The Manifesto and the Concept of Avant-Garde”, with the aim of taking a closer look at the anti-Surrealist Romanian manifestos of the mid-twenties, pre-Surrealist texts of the thirties, and the proper phase of the newly-established Romanian Surrealist Group’s discoveries in the forties

Crowd-sourced legislation and politics: the legitimacy of constitutional deliberation in Romania

    Get PDF
Constitutional reform is a tedious process that requires long periods of time, a relatively broad consensus among political actors, and, often, popular approval. In spite of these, Romania has changed its constitution once (2003) and witnessed several unsuccessful revisions. The most recent attempt, in 2013, introduced a deliberative dimension in the form of a constitutional forum. This article investigates the legitimacy of this deliberative practice using a tri-dimensional approach: input, throughput, and output legitimacy. Our qualitative study relying on direct observation and secondary data analysis concludes that, although input and throughput legitimacy were achieved to a great extent, the output legitimacy was low

Two Fallacies In Approching The Current Crisis

    Get PDF
Present study aims to reveal a few of the main perceptions and assumptions concerning economic activity, with implications in the nowadays’ crisis. The most important current anti-crisis views on causes of the crisis are synthesized and critically reviewed. Methodologically, their interpretation is made by the effects in practice, alleging a wide interdisciplinary approach, consistent with the requirements of the European concept of knowledge society. Thus, ideas are brought in the economic analysis in a heterodox approach, trying to go beyond certain standard economic routines and into modelling. The model comes from an approach on the material-immaterial difference and has an answer to the dilemma consumption vs. economizing. There result prerequisites for economic analysis, as well as conclusions in a pro-active approach of the matter, which are generally applicable to the crisis management at macroeconomic level, but with implications at the level of individual economic agent, too.economic crises, sustainable development, immaterial economy, productivity

The Evolution of Kaufland Communication Strategy in Romania during the Pandemic

    Get PDF
Retailers strove to find a way to better communicate with consumers between 2020 and 2021. The pandemic raised some walls against their struggles because of people’s fear, distrust, and new demands. In the first stage of this unusual lifestyle, buyers looked for new manners of living and even surviving. Then, they tried to adapt to unexpected opportunities to alleviate their daily existence. This study aims to analyse the evolution of Kaufland communication in terms of strategy between March 16, 2020, and December 2021. We wanted to find out how a specific retailer organized its communication in Romania during the pandemic, because taking into consideration that Kaufland is quite successful in the local market, meets most clients’ demands, whose opinion about their products is usually positive. Concerning research methods, we conducted a multimodal discourse analysis focused on online ads delivered on Instagram, investigating them at the extralinguistic and linguistic levels. The study aimed to compare the lockdown and the post-lockdown Instagram campaigns to reveal such issues: global and local aspects, the balance between the rational and emotional approach of the retailer, tone of voice, and even main topics. Our purpose consisted in comparing the first pandemic year with the second one when consumers started learning how to deal with this new challenge in their life. The research outcomes confirmed that Kaufland re-considered its position in the Romanian virtual community, helping people to better cope with unexpected hardships in their lives by using corporate social responsibility communication strategies and an emotional approach in most advertising campaigns

Philosophical, Epistemological, and Scientometric Considerations On the Meanings of Library Science and the Profession of Librarian – Situating a Research Project

    Get PDF
Starting from the problematization of the meanings of science and library professions and institutions, the paper surfaces and analyzes from perspectives equally philosophical, epistemological, and scientometric, the premises and conditions which situate – willingly or not – the project of a (any) genuine research which intends to study the Romanian literature on librarianship as it appears in books and periodicals. To this end, earlier researches will also be placed on the dissection table of analysis, but meanwhile the problematic and even symptomatic experiences that the editors of the journal Philobiblon and its Romanian anthologies by the title Hermeneutica Bibliothecaria – Antologie Philobiblon have to confront are also organically exposed. These experiences outline as well the issues that practically any present or future responsible research of this type should focus on, as also the neuralgic points and mental traps which – once identified – will have to be either avoided, or assumed in the course of these researches. These traps, resulting precisely from the functioning and environment of this literature – which is, or pretends to be, equally professional and scientific – are and can be dangerous in the future, yet also eloquent with regard to their publishing and affiliation institutions

The work of a doctor, as well as that of a priest, is based on the consciousness of a mission of "œman towards man". In understanding that religion, medicine, Church and Hospital are inseparable allies trying to save the human being from its shortcomings, Bishop Nicholae Ivan tried to attract to the Theological Academy in Cluj renowned doctors of the time, and disciplines such as pastoral medicine or hygiene were found constantly in the curricula. This essay aims to provide the forms and way in which these teacher physicians have come to concretize the project of Christian medicine, a model in which the initiative has proven to be creative
