    User acceptance of open enterprise solution: the OSS-ERP case

    Organizations implement Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems with the objective of reaching operational efficiency and the incorporation to new markets through the information flow control on time of the entire organization. However, ERP systems are complex tools, mainly for the small and medium size enterprises (SMEs). For these reason, new ERP configurations have arisen for SMEs such as Open Source Software-ERP (OSS-ERP). OSS-ERP is a research topic barely analyzed by the literature. Specifically, this paper’s aim is to focus on the OSS-ERP users’ acceptance and use. The authors have developed a research model based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) for testing the users’ behavior toward OSS-ERP.Las organizaciones implantan Sistemas Integrados de Gestión (ERP, acrónimo de Enterprise Resource Planning) con el objetivo de alcanzar eficiencias operativas y la incorporación a nuevos mercados mediante un mayor control del flujo de información de toda la empresa a tiempo real. Sin embargo, los sistemas ERP son herramientas complejas, principalmente la pequeña y mediana empresa (PYME).     Exploring the acceptance of enterprise resource planning systems by small manufacturing enterprises

    The use of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems by small enterprises is proliferating. Traditionally used by large enterprises, ERP systems are now considered important enterprise management aids, which may contribute to the sustainability and growth of small enterprises. Although varying acceptance factors may impact on the acceptance of ERP systems, there is no consolidated list of ERP system acceptance factors specific to small enterprises. In this study, the strategic, business, technical and human factors that influence the acceptance of ERP systems in small manufacturing enterprises in South Africa is presented. These influencing factors may guide future initiatives aiming to ensure the acceptance of ERP systems by small manufacturing enterprise. A combined quantitative and qualitative data analysis approach was used as an analytical lens to interpret responses gathered from small manufacturing enterprises.     EXAMINING A MODEL OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ACCEPTANCE BY USERS OF ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING

    Enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is a complex system that involves various stakeholders as users of ERP system within an organization. This research is the development of Hwang’s research (2005) who applies the implementation and adoption of ERP system in informal controls, such as self-control and cultural control. Perceived enjoyment as self-control and uncertainty avoidance as cultural control are used in the implementation of ERP systems and connected to technology acceptance variables for investigating the relationship between these variables. Field data taken through surveys of ERP system users in Indonesia (n=188) are analyzed by Amos. The results support the hypothesis of this research which shows that perceived enjoyment as self-control and uncertainty avoidance as cultural-control are important determinants of ERP system acceptance

    Perkembangan ekonomi yang semakin cepat menyebabkan persaingan bisnis yang semakin ketat. Apalagi dengan adanya perkembangan teknologi yang semakin canggih, Perusahaan-Perusahaan tersebut berlomba-lomba dalam memanfaatkan teknologi untuk meningkatkan keunggulan kompetitif dan efisiensi kinerja Perusahaan mereka dibandingkan pesaingnya. Salah satu investasi teknologi informasi yang populer saat ini adalah sistem Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) yaitu paket aplikasi yang menawarkan ”best practice” dalam menjalankan bisnis dengan menggunakan satu basis data yang dapat diakses oleh semua divisi dalam Perusahaan. Terdapat banyak keuntungan yang dapat dirasakan oleh Perusahaan dengan mengimplementasi sistem ERP, seperti mengurangi biaya produksi, meningkatkan integrasi data, dan mengurangi level inventori. Namun, sebagian besar implementasi sistem ERP yang telah dilakukan oleh beberapa Perusahaan mengalami kegagalan. Salah satu faktor yang menyebabkan kegagalan ini adalah adanya resistensi pengguna terhadap Perubahan. Resistensi dari pengguna ini juga menyebabkan Perusahaan tidak dapat memaksimalkan keuntungan dari implementasi sistem ERP. Oleh karena itu, paper ini akan membahas mengenai faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi penerimaan pengguna dalam menggunakan sistem ERP. Faktor-faktor penerimaan ini didasarkan pada model penerimaan pengguna yang sudah ada pada penelitian sebelumnya yaitu model Unified Theory of Acceptance and Usage of Technology (UTAUT). An increasingly rapid economic development led to the increasingly stringent business competition. Especially with the development of increasingly sophisticated technology, these companies are competing in utilizing technology to enhance competitive advantage and efficiency of their company's performance than its competitors. One of the investment in information technology that is popular today is the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, is an application package that offers best practice of doing business by using a single database that is accessible by all divisions within the company. There are many advantages that can be felt by companies to implement ERP systems, such as reducing production costs, improve data integration, and reduce inventory levels. However, most implementations of ERP systems that have been done by some companies to fail. One of the factors that caused this failure is the presence of user resistance to change. Resistance from users has also led the company can not maximize the benefits of ERP system implementation.     Firms strive to achieve the sustainable competitive advantage in diverse and changing marketplaces. Coping with such circumstances has required firms to align information technology with business strategy in order to exploit their capabilities and change business practices. In this regard, an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system has become increasingly important for organizations to build strong capabilities, improve operational performance, enhance business decision making and compete in a global business context. In other words, an ERP system integrates an organizations resources and also involves business processes and organizational changes. With the ubiquitous growth of IS investment, implementation of ERP systems has grown strongly. Recently, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) have started to adopt ERP systems. An example is Egypt, where they have done so to increase their competitiveness in the global market. However, historically, ERP implementation has been shown to have a high failure rate, which is one of the main reasons users resist using the ERP system. Conversely, users acceptance of the ERP system is the key to the ERP implementation. Thus, this study attempts to find out the important factors that affect end users intention to use the ERP system during the pre-implementation phase of the ERP lifecycle in the higher education context. The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) with minor adjustments is the basis of this study. Ultimately, the findings of this research could enrich employees' experience by giving HEIs a tool for better understanding those factors affecting their ability to effectively utilize ERP systems.     The Determinants of Student Effort at Learning ERP: A Cultural Perspective

    This paper develops a research model based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology model (UTAUT) and Hofstede’s cultural dimensions to explore factors that influence student effort at learning Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. A Structural Equation Model (SEM) using LISREL was utilized to validate the proposed research model using a convenience sample of students at two universities in the USA. The results showed that while subjective norm and career relevance were positively associated with performance expectancy (PE), course structure and self-efficacy were positively associated with effort expectancy (EE). Performance expectancy and effort expectancy were positively associated with student attitude toward ERP. Student attitude toward ERP was positively associated with student effort at learning ERP. The results also revealed that power distance, uncertainty avoidance, and masculinity moderate the relationships between EE and PE on one side and attitude on the other side, between EE and PE, and between attitude and effort at learning ERP, respectively. Implications for educators and researchers are reported

    Factors Affecting the Cloud ERP: A Case Study of Learning Resources Department at Jordanian Education Ministry

    Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems have been used by organizations for years, whereas Cloud ERP systems gained an audience a few years ago from practitioners and academicians. As such, there is a migration from the traditional ERP to the Cloud ERP system, and employees in most organizations are accustomed to the traditional ERP system. In order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Cloud ERP system used in the operation stage. Organizations must research the factors that impact users' satisfaction and managerial decision-making. There are a lot of prior studies that measured users' adoption of ERP systems using a technological acceptance model (TAM). Thus, this study also utilized the TAM model to examine the factors influencing users' adoption of Cloud ERP systems. To get the maximum value of the validity and reliability of the findings, the study was conducted in two folds: pre-implementation and post-implementation. In addition, structural equation modelling was employed to reach the findings. Finally, the study identified the technology factor, employee factor, perceived usefulness and ease of use as important variables affecting Cloud ERP adoption; and as essential antecedents influencing managerial decision-making. This study is the first to employ the TAM model in the Cloud ERP area in two waves: pre-post implementation phases. Interestingly, the relationships between the pre-and post-implementation variables do not differ significantly
