Why Are Electronic Invoice Processes Risky? - Empirical Analysis and Discussion of Risk Factors

    Get PDF
Electronic invoice processes are characterized by various software solutions, legal uncertainty, heter-ogeneous demands, lack of know how, and information system infrastructure incompatibilities. Due to this complexity and the uncertainty that companies face, a holistic map of risk factors of e-invoice processes is required. Companies must be conscious not only about potential opportunities but also about potential risks before they change their business processes and their information systems’ archi-tecture. Potential risk factors are identified theoretically and empirically evaluated with a quantitative expert survey that investigates risk probabilities and potential losses associated with these factors. The empirical analysis reveals that the investigated factors are valid and reliable. After conducting an ex-plorative factor analysis, 37 statistically significant risk factors are grouped into ten risk dimensions: process organization, standard, environment, project management, strategy, acceptance, system, pro-cess execution, security, and change management

Issues of eLogistics applications for varying stakeholders: findings from an online survey

    Get PDF
The current paper aims to: a) propose and verify definition of eLogistics: ‘a set of activities based on using ICT systems and tools, as well as the Internet, as the main communication medium in order to maintain logistics processes’ and explore its acceptance; b) provide a synthesis of trend and possibilities of eLogistics systems and c) obtain a comprehensive picture of available eLogistics applications, sources, functionality and use by different type of companies. A qualitative research approach was adopted applying the Bristol Online Survey (BOS) tool. A brief literature review (of limited online sources and books) resulted in the online survey questionnaire. The survey questions had the options of: agree or disagree; or yes or no on a particular statement or issue. Also to solicit the opinion of the survey participants, a free text area/box was provided against an issue or statement. The study suggests that open source, open standards and standardised system interfaces will support increased supply chain efficiency through integration and access to SMEs as well as larger players. The development and running of an eLogistics platform is costly for SMEs. The authors recommend that such platform be developed through funding by national governments and/or the European Commission. The running and maintenance of such platform can be done by an association relevant to SMEs or a third party with a small contribution (or fee) by the participating SMEs. Document type: Articl

The purpose of this study is to point out the gap in the digital competence between SMEs in Poland and the European Union. For this evaluation the Eurostat database was used. A literature review in relation to organizational competence allowed the definition of digital literacy contained in the broadly defined ICT competence. Digital tools simplify and accelerate decision making processes throughout the management chain (EDI, ERP systems); allow the carrying out of more effective business analyses (cloud computing); facilitate transactions (e-commerce/e-invoicing), allow effective image and branding building (CRM systems, social media), facilitate penetration of new markets and reachingnew customers (e-commerce, CRM). The inference refers to the degree of digitization of SMEs in selected areas, and diagnosis of the digital skills gap in Polish small and medium-sized enterprises. The results of the analysis can be a starting point in building recommendations regarding the use of modern information and communication technologies by SMEs. Modern industry improves anthropogenic activities and greatly simplifies human effort and the industrial world. Cloud computing and mobile applications are more than just buzzwords; they are crucial elements of how business is conducted and how it will be conducted in the future. A rising number of SMEs are currently utilizing mobile and cloud computing technology. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the linkages between user reviews and ratings and the adoption of mobile accounting apps among SMEs in Kenya. The study collected data on 35 commonly used mobile accounting applications and performed a regression analysis on 27 apps that had received user reviews. Data on mobile apps' usage rate, volume of user reviews, and user ratings were gathered for this study. The authors also took note of the deficiencies identified by the selected mobile app reviewers. This study's findings revealed a significant relationship between the number of user evaluations and the adoption of mobile accounting apps. However, a significant effect of user reviews on the adoption of mobile accounting apps was not observed. This paper also identifies shortcomings that app users have pointed out in their reviews. It was concluded that Kenya's degree of mobile app adoption has greatly increased due to the volume of app reviews. This study advises entrepreneurs, particularly those who engage with SMEs, to embrace technology and adopt freely downloadable mobile apps for their accounting and bookkeeping requirements
