Racing car chassis
CĂlem tĂ©to bakalářskĂ© práce je analĂ˝za souÄŤasnĂ˝ch konceptĹŻ podvozkĹŻ závodnĂch okruhovĂ˝ch aut. V prvnà části práce je zpracován historickĂ˝ vĂ˝voj, charakteristika kol a pneumatik s reprezentacĂ dobĹ™e známĂ˝ch produktĹŻ. V druhĂ© části je popsán systĂ©m odpruĹľenĂ, pruĹľnĂ© mĂ©dia a tlumĂcĂ ÄŤleny. SystĂ©my odpruĹľenĂ je zde rozdÄ›len na nezávisle a polozávislĂ© zavěšenĂ kol a odpruĹľenĂ pevnĂ˝ch náprav. NásledujĂcĂ oddĂl tĂ©to práce je zaměřenĂ˝ na standardnĂ kontrolnĂ systĂ©my, jako jsou ABS, ESC a TSC. ZávÄ›r pĹ™inášà rychlĂ© shrnutĂ tĂ©to problematiky.The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse contemporary concepts of circuit race car chassis. In the first part of the thesis, the historical evolution is described and then wheels and tires characteristic within some well-known brand products are represented. The second important part includes the suspension systems, springing medium and damping members. The suspension systems are further divided to independent and semi-independent solutions and rigid axle suspensions. The end of this thesis deals with the standard braking control systems, such as ABS, ESC and TCS. The conclusion brings the quick summary of this subject.
Multi-contact Walking Pattern Generation based on Model Preview Control of 3D COM Accelerations
We present a multi-contact walking pattern generator based on preview-control
of the 3D acceleration of the center of mass (COM). A key point in the design
of our algorithm is the calculation of contact-stability constraints. Thanks to
a mathematical observation on the algebraic nature of the frictional wrench
cone, we show that the 3D volume of feasible COM accelerations is a always a
downward-pointing cone. We reduce its computation to a convex hull of (dual) 2D
points, for which optimal O(n log n) algorithms are readily available. This
reformulation brings a significant speedup compared to previous methods, which
allows us to compute time-varying contact-stability criteria fast enough for
the control loop. Next, we propose a conservative trajectory-wide
contact-stability criterion, which can be derived from COM-acceleration volumes
at marginal cost and directly applied in a model-predictive controller. We
finally implement this pipeline and exemplify it with the HRP-4 humanoid model
in multi-contact dynamically walking scenarios
Mechatronic design of the Twente humanoid head
This paper describes the mechatronic design of the Twente humanoid head, which has been realized in the purpose of having a research platform for human-machine interaction. The design features a fast, four degree of freedom neck, with long range of motion, and a vision system with three degrees of freedom, mimicking the eyes. To achieve fast target tracking, two degrees of freedom in the neck are combined in a differential drive, resulting in a low moving mass and the possibility to use powerful actuators. The performance of the neck has been optimized by minimizing backlash in the mechanisms, and using gravity compensation. The vision system is based on a saliency algorithm that uses the camera images to determine where the humanoid head should look at, i.e. the focus of attention computed according to biological studies. The motion control algorithm receives, as input, the output of the vision algorithm and controls the humanoid head to focus on and follow the target point. The control architecture exploits the redundancy of the system to show human-like motions while looking at a target. The head has a translucent plastic cover, onto which an internal LED system projects the mouth and the eyebrows, realizing human-like facial expressions
Manipulation based on sensor-directed control: An integrated end effector and touch sensing system
A hand/touch sensing system is described that, when mounted on a position-controlled manipulator, greatly expands the kinds of automated manipulation tasks that can be undertaken. Because of the variety of coordinate conversions, control equations, and completion criteria, control is necessarily dependent upon a small digital computer. The sensing system is designed both to be rugged and to sense the necessary touch and force information required to execute a wide range of manipulation tasks. The system consists of a six-axis wrist sensor, external touch sensors, and a pair of matrix jaw sensors. Details of the construction of the particular sensors, the integration of the end effector into the sensor system, and the control algorithms for using the sensor outputs to perform manipulation tasks automatically are discussed
An analytically linearized helicopter model with improved modeling accuracy
An analytically linearized model for helicopter flight response including rotor blade dynamics and dynamic inflow, that was recently developed, was studied with the objective of increasing the understanding, the ease of use, and the accuracy of the model. The mathematical model is described along with a description of the UH-60A Black Hawk helicopter and flight test used to validate the model. To aid in utilization of the model for sensitivity analysis, a new, faster, and more efficient implementation of the model was developed. It is shown that several errors in the mathematical modeling of the system caused a reduction in accuracy. These errors in rotor force resolution, trim force and moment calculation, and rotor inertia terms were corrected along with improvements to the programming style and documentation. Use of a trim input file to drive the model is examined. Trim file errors in blade twist, control input phase angle, coning and lag angles, main and tail rotor pitch, and uniform induced velocity, were corrected. Finally, through direct comparison of the original and corrected model responses to flight test data, the effect of the corrections on overall model output is shown
Flight of the dragonflies and damselflies
This work is a synthesis of our current understanding of the mechanics, aerodynamics and visually mediated control of dragonfly and damselfly flight, with the addition of new experimental and computational data in several key areas. These are: the diversity of dragonfly wing morphologies, the aerodynamics of gliding flight, force generation in flapping flight, aerodynamic efficiency, comparative flight performance and pursuit strategies during predatory and territorial flights. New data are set in context by brief reviews covering anatomy at several scales, insect aerodynamics, neuromechanics and behaviour. We achieve a new perspective by means of a diverse range of techniques, including laser-line mapping of wing topographies, computational fluid dynamics simulations of finely detailed wing geometries, quantitative imaging using particle image velocimetry of on-wing and wake flow patterns, classical aerodynamic theory, photography in the field, infrared motion capture and multi-camera optical tracking of free flight trajectories in laboratory environments. Our comprehensive approach enables a novel synthesis of datasets and subfields that integrates many aspects of flight from the neurobiology of the compound eye, through the aeromechanical interface with the surrounding fluid, to flight performance under cruising and higher-energy behavioural modes
Pre-design study for a modern four-bladed rotor for the Rotor System Research Aircraft (RSRA)
Various candidate rotor systems were compared in an effort to select a modern four-bladed rotor for the RSRA. The YAH-64 rotor system was chosen as the candidate rotor system for further development for the RSRA. The process used to select the rotor system, studies conducted to mate the rotor with the RSRA and provide parametric variability, and the development plan which would be used to implement these studies are presented. A real-time, dual processor simulation of the rotor system research aircraft
A real-time, man-in-the loop, simulation of the rotor system research aircraft (RSRA) was conducted. The unique feature of this simulation was that two digital computers were used in parallel to solve the equations of the RSRA mathematical model. The design, development, and implementation of the simulation are documented. Program validation was discussed, and examples of data recordings are given. This simulation provided an important research tool for the RSRA project in terms of safe and cost-effective design analysis. In addition, valuable knowledge concerning parallel processing and a powerful simulation hardware and software system was gained
Entropic Tightening of Vibrated Chains
We investigate experimentally the distribution of configurations of a ring
with an elementary topological constraint, a ``figure-8'' twist. Using vibrated
granular chains, which permit controlled preparation and direct observation of
such a constraint, we show that configurations where one of the loops is tight
and the second is large are strongly preferred. This agrees with recent
predictions for equilibrium properties of topologically-constrained polymers.
However, the dynamics of the tightening process weakly violate detailed
balance, a signature of the nonequilibrium nature of this system.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
