Healthcare processes are by nature complex, mostly due to their multi-disciplinary character that requires continuous coordination between care providers. They encompass both organizational and clinical tasks, the latter ones driven by med- ical knowledge, which is inherently incomplete and distributed among people having different expertise and roles. Care pathways refer to planning and coordination of care processes related to specific groups of patients in a given setting. The goal in defining and following care pathways is to improve the quality of care in terms of patient satisfaction, costs reduction, and medical outcome. Thus, care pathways are a promising methodological tool for standardizing care and decision-making. Business process management techniques can successfully be used for representing organiza- tional aspects of care pathways in a standard, readable, and accessible way, while supporting process development, analysis, and re-engineering. In this paper, we intro- duce a methodological framework that fosters the integrated design, implementation, and enactment of care processes and related decisions, while considering proper rep- resentation and management of organizational and clinical information. We focus here and discuss in detail the design phase, which encompasses the simulation of care pathways. We show how business process model and notation (BPMN) and decision model and notation (DMN) can be combined for supporting intertwined aspects of decision-intensive care pathways. As a proof-of-concept, the proposed methodology has been applied to design care pathways related to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in the region of Veneto, in Italy

More and more, the organizations study new ways to stand out in the market and to distinguish themselves from their competition. The Business Rules Management is increasingly being looked in a different way by the information system teams, because it brings many benefits in the organizations strategies as well as benefits in the IT maintenance, that presents itself as a difficulty for the organizations. The actual competitive environment, demands the organizations to have flexible applications that can be adapted to attend the business requirements, because they are always in constant change. The use of the Business Rules Management Systems allows the organizations to develop and update the applications in a fast and efficient manner while offering tools to the managers to help them make the best decision in regard to the business strategies decisions. With the current difficulty and need for organizations to ensure agility in the businesses, a business rules management approach is catapulting the organizations to the top market levels allowing a gradual improvement in the decision making, as well as a better alignment between the systems, the people and the IT

The Decision Model and Notation (DMN) modeling language allows the precise specification of business decisions and business rules. DMN is readily understandable by business users involved in decision management. However, as the models get complex, the cognitive abilities of humans threaten manual maintainability and comprehensibility. Proper design of the decision logic thus requires comprehensive automated analysis of e.g., all possible cases the decision shall cover; correlations between inputs and outputs; and the importance of inputs for deriving the output. In the paper, the authors explore the mutual benefits of combining human-driven DMN decision modeling with the computational power of Artificial Intelligence for DMN model analysis and improved comprehension. The authors propose a model-driven approach that uses DMN models to generate Machine Learning (ML) training data and show, how the trained ML models can inform human decision modelers by means of superimposing the feature importance within the original DMN models. An evaluation with multiple real DMN models from an insurance company evaluates the feasibility and the utility of the approach

Digital economy, digital currencies, and advancement in information technology have contributed to tremendous growth in the global economy and financialisation. In order to have contributed sustain this growth, a systematic approach is necessary for all aspects of the financial process and applications. To a certain extent, it has also created problems in social and economic instability. In order to minimize damaging impacts caused by the lack of regulatory compliance, governance, ethical responsibilities and trust, we have been applying rigorous business requirements analysis framework known as Business Integrity Modelling and Analysis (BIMA) and detailed Business Process Modelling and Simulation (BPMN) techniques to unify business integrity with business performance using by intelligent big data predictive analytics and business intelligence. This talk will provide an application of BPMN for financial application as a Service and will also provide an overview of blockchain technology adoption for the financial cloud

Keywords: geschäftsprozessmodellierung, aufwandsschätzung, gpm, bpm, bpmn, function point, cocomo, modellierung, aufwand, kostenUp to this point business process management projects in general and business process modeling projects in particular could not rely on a practical and scientifically validated method to estimate cost and effort. Especially for the process step of model development, so far no cost and effort estimate approach has been developed within the business process management life cycle. However, regarding the implementation of business process models, initial solutions are discussed in the literature. The thesis at hand provides an overview on the existing methods to estimate cost and effort and the state of the literature published to date from closely related fields of research as well as from less connected areas. Based on that, a method is being developed to estimate cost and effort for the development of business process models: BPM COCOMO. After an adaptation of the method, different ideas for further analysis and validation of the method are proposed.
