DIN Spec 91345 RAMI 4.0 compliant data pipelining: An approach to support data understanding and data acquisition in smart manufacturing environments
Today, data scientists in the manufacturing domain are confronted with a set of challenges associated to data acquisition as well as data processing including the extraction of valuable in-formation to support both, the work of the manufacturing equipment as well as the manufacturing processes behind it.
One essential aspect related to data acquisition is the pipelining, including various commu-nication standards, protocols and technologies to save and transfer heterogenous data. These circumstances make it hard to understand, find, access and extract data from the sources depend-ing on use cases and applications.
In order to support this data pipelining process, this thesis proposes the use of the semantic model. The selected semantic model should be able to describe smart manufacturing assets them-selves as well as to access their data along their life-cycle.
As a matter of fact, there are many research contributions in smart manufacturing, which already came out with reference architectures or standards for semantic-based meta data descrip-tion or asset classification. This research builds upon these outcomes and introduces a novel se-mantic model-based data pipelining approach using as a basis the Reference Architecture Model for Industry 4.0 (RAMI 4.0).Hoje em dia, os cientistas de dados no domínio da manufatura são confrontados com várias normas, protocolos e tecnologias de comunicação para gravar, processar e transferir vários tipos de dados.
Proceedings of the ECSCW'95 Workshop on the Role of Version Control in CSCW Applications
The workshop entitled "The Role of Version Control in Computer Supported Cooperative Work Applications" was held on September 10, 1995 in Stockholm, Sweden in conjunction with the ECSCW'95 conference. Version control, the ability to manage relationships between successive instances of artifacts, organize those instances into meaningful structures, and support navigation and other operations on those structures, is an important problem in CSCW applications. It has long been recognized as a critical issue for inherently cooperative tasks such as software engineering, technical documentation, and authoring. The primary challenge for versioning in these areas is to support opportunistic, open-ended design processes requiring the preservation of historical perspectives in the design process, the reuse of previous designs, and the exploitation of alternative designs.
The primary goal of this workshop was to bring together a diverse group of individuals interested in examining the role of versioning in Computer Supported Cooperative Work. Participation was encouraged from members of the research community currently investigating the versioning process in CSCW as well as application designers and developers who are familiar with the real-world requirements for versioning in CSCW. Both groups were represented at the workshop resulting in an exchange of ideas and information that helped to familiarize developers with the most recent research results in the area, and to provide researchers with an updated view of the needs and challenges faced by application developers. In preparing for this workshop, the organizers were able to build upon the results of their previous one entitled "The Workshop on Versioning in Hypertext" held in conjunction with the ECHT'94 conference. The following section of this report contains a summary in which the workshop organizers report the major results of the workshop. The summary is followed by a section that contains the position papers that were accepted to the workshop. The position papers provide more detailed information describing recent research efforts of the workshop participants as well as current challenges that are being encountered in the development of CSCW applications. A list of workshop participants is provided at the end of the report.
The organizers would like to thank all of the participants for their contributions which were, of course, vital to the success of the workshop. We would also like to thank the ECSCW'95 conference organizers for providing a forum in which this workshop was possible
Middleware Technologies for Cloud of Things - a survey
The next wave of communication and applications rely on the new services
provided by Internet of Things which is becoming an important aspect in human
and machines future. The IoT services are a key solution for providing smart
environments in homes, buildings and cities. In the era of a massive number of
connected things and objects with a high grow rate, several challenges have
been raised such as management, aggregation and storage for big produced data.
In order to tackle some of these issues, cloud computing emerged to IoT as
Cloud of Things (CoT) which provides virtually unlimited cloud services to
enhance the large scale IoT platforms. There are several factors to be
considered in design and implementation of a CoT platform. One of the most
important and challenging problems is the heterogeneity of different objects.
This problem can be addressed by deploying suitable "Middleware". Middleware
sits between things and applications that make a reliable platform for
communication among things with different interfaces, operating systems, and
architectures. The main aim of this paper is to study the middleware
technologies for CoT. Toward this end, we first present the main features and
characteristics of middlewares. Next we study different architecture styles and
service domains. Then we presents several middlewares that are suitable for CoT
based platforms and lastly a list of current challenges and issues in design of
CoT based middlewares is discussed.Comment: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2352864817301268,

Integration and Effective Supply Chain Management: A Review of Agriculture in Pakistan and China
Agriculture is likely to require further strengthening ties between farmers and citizens to improve the efficiency of market systems and their saturation with modern technology. Increasing globalization of agriculture and the ensuing hegemony of supermarkets have brought significant profits and losses. Those on whom the state of the global market of the 21st century, should strive for a just distribution of its burdens, without encroaching on the real fruits of progress, through which millions of people have access to a healthy, diverse and affordable food. Supply chain management can be defined as the integration of key business processes from end user to the original suppliers that provide products, services and information that add value for customers and stakeholders. The integration of all business processes with all stakeholders in the supply chain seems to make no sense apart from being, of course, a major waste of resources. In fact, in certain cases, the enormity of the task may make it impossible to overcome for a company whose supply chain presents a great complexity. Thus, it seems important that companies of all sizes find a way to manage more easily and effectively chains in which they operate. However, particularly in agricultural sector, integration of supply chain process has really brought significant impact on the efficiency of the overall procedures. A Generic Network and System Management Framework
Networks and distributed systems have formed the basis of an ongoing communications revolution
that has led to the genesis of a wide variety of services. The constantly increasing size and
complexity of these systems does not come without problems. In some organisations, the
deployment of Information Technology has reached a state where the benefits from downsizing and
rightsizing by adding new services are undermined by the effort required to keep the system
running.
Management of networks and distributed systems in general has a straightforward goal: to provide
a productive environment in which work can be performed effectively. The work required for
management should be a small fraction of the total effort. Most IT systems are still managed in an
ad hoc style without any carefully elaborated plan. In such an environment the success of
management decisions depends totally on the qualification and knowledge of the administrator.
The thesis provides an analysis of the state of the art in the area of Network and System
Management and identifies the key requirements that must be addressed for the provisioning of
Integrated Management Services. These include the integration of the different management related
aspects (i.e. integration of heterogeneous Network, System and Service Management).
The thesis then proposes a new framework, INSMware, for the provision of Management Services.
It provides a fundamental basis for the realisation of a new approach to Network and System
Management. It is argued that Management Systems can be derived from a set of pre-fabricated
and reusable Building Blocks that break up the required functionality into a number of separate
entities rather than being developed from scratch. It proposes a high-level logical model in order to
accommodate the range of requirements and environments applicable to Integrated Network and
System Management that can be used as a reference model.
A development methodology is introduced that reflects principles of the proposed approach, and
provides guidelines to structure the analysis, design and implementation phases of a management
system. The INSMware approach can further be combined with the componentware paradigm for
the implementation of the management system. Based on these principles, a prototype for the
management of SNMP systems has been implemented using industry standard middleware
technologies. It is argued that development of a management system based on Componentware
principles can offer a number of benefits. INSMware Components may be re-used and system
solutions will become more modular and thereby easier to construct and maintain
High-capacity 5G fronthaul networks based on optical space division multiplexing
\u3cp\u3eThe introduction of 5G mobile networks, bringing multi-Gbit/s user data rates and reduced latency, opens new opportunities for media generation, transport and distribution, as well as for new immersive media applications. The expected use of millimeter-wave carriers and the strong network densification resulting from a much reduced cell size--which enable the expected performance of 5G--pose major challenges to the fronthaul network. Space division multiplexing (SDM) in the optical domain has been suggested for ultra-high capacity fronthaul networks that naturally support different classes of fronthaul traffic and further enable the use of analog radio-over-fiber and advanced technologies, such as optical beamforming. This paper discusses the introduction of SDM with multi-core fibers in the fronthaul network as suggested by the blueSPACE project, regarding both digitized and analog radio-over-fiber fronthaul transport as well as the introduction of optical beamforming for high-capacity millimeter-wave radio access. Analog and digitized radio-over-fiber are discussed in a scenario featuring parallel fronthaul for different radio access technologies, showcasing their differences and potential when combined with SDM.\u3c/p\u3
