Wavelet Neural Networks for Speed Control of BLDC Motor

    Get PDF
In the recent years, researchers have sophisticated the synthesis of neural networks depending on the wavelet functions to build the wavelet neural networks (WNNs), where the wavelet function is utilized in the hidden layer as a sigmoid function instead of conventional sigmoid function that is utilized in artificial neural network. The WNN inherits the features of the wavelet function and the neural network (NN), such as self-learning, self-adapting, time-frequency location, robustness, and nonlinearity. Besides, the wavelet function theory guarantees that the WNN can simulate the nonlinear system precisely and rapidly. In this chapter, the WNN is used with PID controller to make a developed controller named WNN-PID controller. This controller will be utilized to control the speed of Brushless DC (BLDC) motor to get preferable performance than the traditional controller techniques. Besides, the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is utilized to optimize the parameters of the WNN-PID controller. The modification for this method of the WNN such as the recurrent wavelet neural network (RWNN) was included in this chapter. Simulation results for all the above methods are given and compared

Analysis of wavelet controller for robustness in electronic differential of electric vehicles: an investigation and numerical developments

In road transportation systems, differential plays an important role in preventing the vehicle from slipping on curved tracks. In practice, mechanical differentials are used, but they are bulky because of their increased weight. Moreover, they are not suitable for electric vehicles, especially those employing separate drives for both rear wheels. The electronic differential constitutes recent technological advances in electric vehicle design, enabling better stability and control of a vehicle on curved roads. This article articulates the modeling and simulation of an electronic differential employing a novel wavelet transform controller for two brushless DC motors ensuring drive in two right and left back driving wheels. Further, the proposed work uses a discrete wavelet transform controller to decompose the error between actual and command speed provided by the electronic differential based on throttle and steering angle as the input into frequency components. By scaling these frequency components by their respective gains, the obtained control signal is actually given as input to the motor. To verify the proposal, a set of designed strategies were carried out: a vehicle on a straight road, turning right and turning left. Numerical simulation test results of the controllers are presented and compared for robust performance and stability

Global Saturated Regulator with Variable Gains for Robot Manipulators

    Get PDF
In this paper, we propose a set of saturated controllers with variable gains to solve the regulation problem for robot manipulators in joint space. These control schemes deliver torques inside the prescribed limits of servomotors. The gamma of variable gains is formed by continuous, smooth, and differentiable functions of the joint position error and velocity of the manipulator. A strict Lyapunov function is proposed to demonstrate globally asymptotic stability of the closed-loop equilibrium point. Finally, the functionality and performance of the proposal are illustrated via simulation results and comparative analysis against Proportional-Derivative (PD) control scheme on a two-degrees-freedom direct-drive robot manipulator

Controlled wavelet domain sparsity for x-ray tomography

    Get PDF
Tomographic reconstruction is an ill-posed inverse problem that calls for regularization. One possibility is to require sparsity of the unknown in an orthonormal wavelet basis. This, in turn, can be achieved by variational regularization, where the penalty term is the sum of the absolute values of the wavelet coefficients. The primal-dual fixed point algorithm showed that the minimizer of the variational regularization functional can be computed iteratively using a soft-thresholding operation. Choosing the soft-thresholding parameter mu > 0 is analogous to the notoriously difficult problem of picking the optimal regularization parameter in Tikhonov regularization. Here, a novel automatic method is introduced for choosing mu, based on a control algorithm driving the sparsity of the reconstruction to an a priori known ratio of nonzero versus zero wavelet coefficients in the unknown.Peer reviewe
