    Visualizing the hotspots and emerging trends of 3D printing through scientometrics

    Purpose - 3D printing is believed to be driving the third industrial revolution. A comprehensive understanding of the hotspots and trends of 3D printing may promote the theory development of 3D printing, help researchers to determine the research direction, and provide a reference for enterprises and government to plan the development of 3D printing industry. However, a scientometric visualizing of 3D printing research and an exploration its hotspots and emerging trends are lacking. Therefore, it was necessary to carry out this relevant research. Design/methodology/approach – Based on the theory of scientometrics, 2769 literatures on the 3D printing theme were found in the Web of Science Core Collection’ SCI indexes between 1995-2016. These were analyzed to explore the research hotspots and emerging trends of 3D printing with the software CiteSpaceIII. Findings – (1) hotspots appeared first in 1993, grow rapidly from 2005, and peaked in 2013; (2) hotspots in the "medical field" appeared earliest and have remained extremely active; (3) hotspots have evolved from “drug”, "printer", "rapid prototyping" and "3D printing" in the 1990s, through "laser-induced consolidation", "scaffolds", "sintering" and "metal matrix composites" in the 2000s, to the current hotspots of "stereolithography", "laser additive manufacturing", "medical images", etc.; (4) "3D bioprinting",“titanium”, “stem cell” and "chemical reaction" were the emerging hotspots in recent years; (5) "commercial operation" and "fusion with emerging technology such as big data" may create future hotspots. Research limitations/implications - It is hard to avoid the possibility of missing important research results on 3D printing. The relevant records could be missing if the query phrases for topic search do not appear in records. Besides, in order to improve the quality of data, this study selected articles and reviews as the research objects, which may also omit some records. Originality/value - First, this is the first paper visualizing the hotspots and emerging trends of 3D printing using scientometric tools. Second, not only "burst reference" and "burst keywords", but also "cluster" and "landmark article" are also selected as the evaluation factors to judge the hotspots and trends of a domain comprehensively.     New Working Practices: A Scientometric Review

    Study on New Working Practices (NWPs), which is the subject of this review paper, has created a large body of literature. Studies in this research area are progressing quickly, and it is important to stay abreast of new trends and essential factors in the growth of mutual awareness. This study evaluates the global scientific output of New Working Practices (NWPs) research and explores their hotspots and frontiers from 1980 to 2018 (pre-COVID-19), using bibliometric methods. 850 relevant articles were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) and analysed. Scientometric method and Citespace VI were used to analyse the bibliometric data. Reference citation and cocitation networks were plotted, while keywords were used to analyse the research hotspots and trends. There is a significant increase in the number of annual publications with time. The United Kingdom (UK) ranked highest in the countries with most publications, and the leading author is Friedhelm Nachreiner based on publication counts. The most cited author/organisation is the UK Department of Health. Performance, work, and flexible working are the research hotspots, while flexible working arrangement represents the prominent research domain. The study offers valuable references for researchers, industry practitioners and policymakers

    A Scientometric Analysis of Urban Economic Development: R Bibliometrix Biblioshiny Application

    This study aims to analyze the development of scientometric research from the theme of urban economic development. The analysis was carried out on 360 articles indexed by Dimension.ai. The method used is scientometric using R Bibliometrix Biblioshiny and VosViewer as processing tools. The results obtained are that this theme has begun to develop significantly in 2020 until now. Research in urban economic development is dominantly published by Chinese authors and affiliates in reputable journals. Research opportunities from urban economic development in emerging themes found the topics of city, innovation, metropolitan, planning, future, and change. This indicates that the potential research themes are in the city planning area which is “innovative”, “future-oriented” and able to “adapt the technology” in “the face of change”. Potential topics in urban economic development were found to have changed from 1964-2013 to 2014-2020 which focused on urban, data, local, contemporary, design and cities. These results can be used as input in compiling research on the theme of urban economic development research and to help researchers find novelty and sustainable impact contributions

    O lado comportamental dos agentes de recomendação : uma revisão bibliométrica

    Recommendation agents have been used to assist consumers in online purchase for almost 20 years. Their use has been studied in academic research with two different approaches. The first one addresses computational problems related to generating accurate recommendations. The other seeks to understand how user interaction with recommendation agents can alter behaviors in online shopping. Through bibliometric and scientometric methods, this study looked for the most influential papers, authors and journals in the field of behavioral recommendation research. In the present work, only articles investigating behavioral aspects of recommendation usage were considered. The identified articles were analyzed in terms of their methodology, variables and repercussion. At the end, a total of 175 articles published in journals from many different fields of academic research were found, attesting the multidisciplinary nature of this topic. Most of the studies were empirical investigations using experimental methodology, however theoretical papers showed to be more influential. It was possible to identify 29 different dependent variables used to measure the effects of recommendations in online assisted purchase. The 19 independent variables used in these studies were related to characteristics of the recommendation agent, user characteristics or vendor characteristics. Results also showed that the field still lacks confirmatory studies capable of creating a greater assurance for the knowledge already developed in the field.um período de cerca de 20 anos. Sua utilização atualmente é estudada na pesquisa acadêmica a partir de duas diferentes abordagens. A primeira se destina à resolução de problemas computacionais relacionados à geração de recomendações acuradas. A segunda tem como intuito entender como a interação do usuário com agentes de recomendação pode alterar seu comportamento de compra online. Usando um método bibliométrico e cientométrico, este estudo buscou os artigos, autores e publicações mais influentes no campo de pesquisa comportamental. Isto significa que apenas artigos que investigaram aspectos comportamentais do uso de recomendações foram considerados. Os artigos identificados foram também analisados em termos de sua metodologia, variáveis e repercussão. A maioria dos estudos se tratavam de investigações empíricas usando metodologia experimental, entretanto os artigos teóricos se demonstraram mais influentes. Também foi possível identificar 29 variáveis dependentes usadas para medir os efeitos das recomendações em compras online assistidas. As 19 variáveis independentes usadas nesses estudos estavam relacionadas com características do agente de recomendação, características do usuário ou características do vendedor. Os resultados também demonstraram que o campo ainda carece de estudos confirmatórios capazes de criar mais certeza para o conhecimento já desenvolvido na área

    A Scientometrics Review on Research of Knowledge Sharing in Virtual Communities

    The number of literature on knowledge sharing in virtual communities has gained rapid growth during last decade; however, there have been few attempts to map the global research in this domain. In this study, the CiteSpace software package was used to conduct a series of content analyses to identify the state of the field and trends in knowledge sharing in virtual communities, including the distribution of core authors and institutions; high-frequency categories and keywords; highly cited papers and hot topics of research; and trends pertain to co-author analysis, co-word analysis, co-citation analysis, and particularly cluster analysis. We present all research focuses in a scientometric way and arrive at the following findings. First, the most significant developments and progress in knowledge sharing in virtual communities have occurred primarily in China, Taiwan, USA, Malaysia. Second, the existing studies in the field of knowledge sharing in virtual communities focus primarily on Business & Economics, Engineering and Computer Science.
