    A review and open issues of diverse text watermarking techniques in spatial domain

    Nowadays, information hiding is becoming a helpful technique and fetches more attention due to the fast growth of using the internet; it is applied for sending secret information by using different techniques. Watermarking is one of major important technique in information hiding. Watermarking is of hiding secret data into a carrier media to provide the privacy and integrity of information so that no one can recognize and detect it's accepted the sender and receiver. In watermarking, many various carrier formats can be used such as an image, video, audio, and text. The text is most popular used as a carrier files due to its frequency on the internet. There are many techniques variables for the text watermarking; each one has its own robust and susceptible points. In this study, we conducted a review of text watermarking in the spatial domain to explore the term text watermarking by reviewing, collecting, synthesizing and analyze the challenges of different studies which related to this area published from 2013 to 2018. The aims of this paper are to provide an overview of text watermarking and comparison between approved studies as discussed according to the Arabic text characters, payload capacity, Imperceptibility, authentication, and embedding technique to open important research issues in the future work to obtain a robust method

    Robust Video Watermarking Algorithm based on DCT-SVD approach and Encryption

    Sharing of digital media content over the internet is increasing everyday .Digital watermarking is a technique used to protect the intellectual property rights of multimedia content owners. In this paper, we propose a robust video watermarking scheme that utilizes Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) for embedding a watermark into video frames. The proposed method uses encryption to make the watermark more robust against malicious attacks. The encryption key is used to modify the watermark before it is embedded in the video frames. The modified watermark is then embedded in the DCT and SVD coefficients of the video frames. The experimental results show that the proposed method provides better robustness against various attacks such as compression, noise addition, and filtering, while maintaining good perceptual quality of the watermarked video. The proposed method also shows better resistance against geometric attacks such as cropping, rotation, and scaling. Overall, the proposed method provides an effective solution for protecting the intellectual property rights of multimedia content owners in video distribution and transmission scenarios

    A new method for watermarking color images using virtual hiding and El-Gamal ciphering

    One of the important issues in the era of computer networks and multimedia technology development is to find ways to maintain the reliability, credibility, copyright and non-duplication of digital content transmitted over the internet. For the purpose of protecting images from illegal usage, a watermark is used. A hidden digital watermark is the process of concealing information on a host to prove that this image is owned by a specific person or organization. In this paper, a new method has been proposed to use an RGB logo to protect color images from unlicensed trading. The method depends on retrieving logo data from specific locations in the host to form a logo when the owner claims the rights to those images. These positions are chosen because their pixels match the logo data. The locations of matching pixels are stored in a table that goes through two stages of treatment to ensure confidentiality: First, table compression, second, encoding positions in the compressed table through El-Gamal algorithm. Because the method depends on the idea of keeping host pixels without change, PSNR will always be infinity. After subjecting the host to five types of attack, the results demonstrate that the method can effectively protect the image and hidden logo is retrieved clearly even after the attacks

    Abstract: This paper presents digital images watermarking approach to sustain the ownership and true authentication. To secure intellectual belongings of images, audio and videos, watermark W is converted into a sequence of bits and in order to encrypt the watermark, sequence of size R is selected randomly. Additionally, a pseudo random number is generated to calculate pixels for selection key generation. Finally, 2-level discrete slanlet transform (DST) on the host image is applied to divide it into Red, Green and Blue channels. The results thus produced from proposed methodology exhibit robustness against the existing state of the art. Further, proposed approach effectively extract watermark in the absence of the original images

    Blind colour image watermarking techniques in hybrid domain using least significant bit and slantlet transform

    Colour image watermarking has attracted a lot of interests since the last decade in tandem with the rapid growth of internet and its applications. This is due to increased awareness especially amongst netizens to protect digital assets from fraudulent activities. Many research efforts focused on improving the imperceptibility or robustness of both semi-blind and non-blind watermarking in spatial or transform domain. The results so far have been encouraging. Nonetheless, the requirements of the watermarking applications are varied in terms of imperceptibility, robustness and capacity. Ironically, limited studies concern on the authenticity and blind watermarking. Hence, this study presents two new blind RGB image watermarking techniques called Model1 and Model2 in hybrid domain using Least Significant Bit (LSB) insertion and Slantlet Transform (SLT). The models share similar pre-processing and LSB insertion stages but differ in SLT approach. In addition, two interrelated watermarks known as main watermark (MW) and sub-watermark (SW) are also utilized. Firstly, the RGB cover image is converted into YCbCr colour space and then split up into three components namely, Y, Cb and Cr. Secondly, the Cb component is selected as a cover for the MW embedding using the LSB substitution to attain a Cb-watermarked image (CbW). Thirdly, the Cr component is chosen and converted into the transform domain using SLT, and is subsequently decomposed into two paths: three-level sub-bands for Model1 and two-level sub-bands for Model2. For each model, the sub-bands are then used as a cover for sub-watermark embedding to generate a Cr-watermarked image (CrW). Following that, the Y component, CbW and CrW are combined to obtain a YCbCr-watermarked image. Finally, the image is reverted to RGB colour space to attain the actual watermarked image (WI). Upon embedding, the MW and SW are extracted from WI. The extraction process is similar to the above embedding except it is accomplished in a reverse order. Experimental results which utilized the standard dataset with fifteen well-known attacks revealed that, among others: Model1 has produced high imperceptibility, moderate robustness and good capacity, with Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) rose to 65dB, Normalized Cross Correlation (NCC) moderated at 0.80, and capacity was 15%. Meanwhile, Model2, as per designed, performed positively in all aspects, with NCC strengthened to 1.00, capacity jumped to 25% and PSNR softened at 55dB but still on the high side. Interestingly, in terms of authenticity, Model2 performed impressively albeit the extracted MW has been completely altered. Overall, the models have successfully fulfilled all the research objectives and also markedly outperformed benchmark watermarking techniques

    Region-Based Watermarking of Biometric Images: Case Study in Fingerprint Images

    In this paper, a novel scheme to watermark biometric images is proposed. It exploits the fact that biometric images, normally, have one region of interest, which represents the relevant part of information processable by most of the biometric-based identification/authentication systems. This proposed scheme consists of embedding the watermark into the region of interest only; thus, preserving the hidden data from the segmentation process that removes the useless background and keeps the region of interest unaltered; a process which can be used by an attacker as a cropping attack. Also, it provides more robustness and better imperceptibility of the embedded watermark. The proposed scheme is introduced into the optimum watermark detection in order to improve its performance. It is applied to fingerprint images, one of the most widely used and studied biometric data. The watermarking is assessed in two well-known transform domains: the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and the discrete Fourier transform (DFT). The results obtained are very attractive and clearly show significant improvements when compared to the standard technique, which operates on the whole image. The results also reveal that the segmentation (cropping) attack does not affect the performance of the proposed technique, which also shows more robustness against other common attacks
