This paper profound the various soft computing techniques like fuzzy logic, genetic algorithm, ant colony optimization, particle swarm optimization used in controlling the parameters of PID Controller. Its widespread use and universal acceptability is allocated to its elementary operating algorithm, the relative ease with the controller effects can be adjusted, the broad range of applications where it has truly developed excellent control performances, and the familiarity with which it is deduced among researchers. In spite of its wide spread use, one of its short-comings is that there is no efficient tuning method for PID controller. Given this background, the main objective of this is to develop a tuning methodology that would be universally applicable to a range of well-liked process that occurs in the process control industry

Load frequency controllers considering renewable energy integration in power system

    Get PDF
Abstract: Load frequency control or automatic generation control is one of the main operations that take place daily in a modern power system. The objectives of load frequency control are to maintain power balance between interconnected areas and to control the power flow in the tie-lines. Electric power cannot be stored in large quantity that is why its production must be equal to the consumption in each time. This equation constitutes the key for a good management of any power system and introduces the need of more controllers when taking into account the integration of renewable energy sources into the traditional power system. There are many controllers presented in the literature and this work reviews the traditional load frequency controllers and those, which combined the traditional controller and artificial intelligence algorithms for controlling the load frequency

A lifebuoy such as figure 1, or we can call as ring buoy, lifering, lifesaver, life donut, life preserver or lifebelt, also known as a "perry buoy", or "kisby ring". The "kisby ring", or sometimes will be call "Kisbie ring", is thought to be named after Thomas Kisbee (1792–1877) who was a British naval officer. Lifebuoy is a lifesaving buoy designed to save someone in the water. It also can provide buoyancy and prevent drowning. To improve aid rescue at night, mostly lifebuoys are fitted with one or more seawater-activated lights

Active Inference for Integrated State-Estimation, Control, and Learning

This work presents an approach for control, state-estimation and learning model (hyper)parameters for robotic manipulators. It is based on the active inference framework, prominent in computational neuroscience as a theory of the brain, where behaviour arises from minimizing variational free-energy. The robotic manipulator shows adaptive and robust behaviour compared to state-of-the-art methods. Additionally, we show the exact relationship to classic methods such as PID control. Finally, we show that by learning a temporal parameter and model variances, our approach can deal with unmodelled dynamics, damps oscillations, and is robust against disturbances and poor initial parameters. The approach is validated on the `Franka Emika Panda' 7 DoF manipulator.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures, accepted for presentation at the International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) 202
