    Get PDF
The ongoing transition from industrial to network society challenges educational practices and the process is characterised by opposing forces. At the political level, New Public Management initiatives oppose the general consensus that it is necessary to consolidate network society competencies. At the level of everyday educational practice we see a mounting tension between the quality of educational outcomes, in terms of genuine learning, and students’ strategies for dealing with an increasing pressure of efficiency and time. This article presents a design for teaching and learning experiment that aims to navigate these turbulent waters, scaffold genuine learning, satisfy learning objectives and ease the strain on students. Due to the experiences and knowledge derived from the experiment, the paper argues that the model behind the experiment demonstrates qualities that may be developed and refined and contribute to the educational system’s adjustment to the network society

Abstract. The traditional data envelopment analysis (DEA) model ignores the cooperative relationship among decision-making units (DMUs), so it is difficult to evaluate the DMUs efficiency reasonably. In this study, we use a cross-efficiency and bootstrap truncated regression (BTR) model to analyze the determining factors of digital mobile e-learning. The empirical results of this research indicate the following results: (1) Importing digital mobile e-learning can really enhance the efficiency of school management. (2) The school size, tablet PC numbers, total equipment expenses associated with tablet PC and school location are important determinants for affecting the efficiency of school management. Owing to the government is full implementation of the new learns model, that is, to be where the students able to experience the authentic joy of new learning model and attract students join. The result of the study suggested that in order to increase the school’s cross-efficiency model efficiency. The first assist the school in upgrading the Wi-Fi technology and network equipment. In general, the school adds to the Wi-Fi technology and network equipment. That would enlarge the school network and as to attract more school will adopt the new learning. It is where the students able to experience the authentic joy of new learning model and attract students join. Thus, the schools will increase school size. However, it should be noted that total equipment expenses associated with tablet PC have the negative influence on school management efficiency due to the increasing costs for furnishing the related internet and network equipment or device to facilitate for teaching and learning among teachers and students by digital mobile e-learning. The results of this research can also be the reference for educational authorities when formulating policies and regulations for promoting digital mobile e-learning in high school in Taiwan.Keywords. The implementation of a studio-based approach to teaching and learning in the Bachelor of Information Management and Systems (BIMS) at Monash University has instituted a new teaching model in which the traditional lecture theatre/tutorial environment is replaced by a model based around the development of collaborative learning and professional environments. Students are learning and practicing the skills and techniques required in the discipline in an environment that simulates the working environments they will encounter subsequently in their professional careers. The information technology infrastructure required for this model of teaching and learning requires just as much re-thinking as does the curriculum and pedagogy. The paper describes the network, hardware and software requirements, and the peripherals required to support the studio-based model underpinning the BIMS degree. A number of the pitfalls and lessons learnt during this development are also included in the paper

With the rapid development of the Internet and the popularity of mobile devices, mobile learning and flipped Classroom have been widely used in college English teaching in China. As innovative digital learning and teaching mode, both of them emphasize the autonomy and individuation of learning, which break through the limits of time and space. Therefore, more scientific and accurate assessment model is urgently needed to evaluate the changes of students’ knowledge, skills, learning attitude and other aspects in the whole process of mobile learning. From the perspective of Dynamic Evaluation Theory, this paper abandons the drawbacks of traditional static assessment model and applies the dynamic assessment into every link of mobile learning and flipped classroom. It constructs a diversified dynamic assessment system of college English, comprehensively evaluating students’ academic performance by means of information technology and network resources. After two semesters of experimental study, it terrifies the effectiveness of the new dynamic assessment model based on the data collected in the questionnaires, interview, and the test. The implementation of the innovative assessment model not only urges teachers to improve teaching management, but also enhances students’ learning efficiency and language application ability, thus improving the quality of college English teaching. It opens up a new prospect for the standardization and scientization of college English assessment system

This research describes an adaptive online quiz system that can be utilized as an extension of content management system. With ‘adaptive’ capability, quizzes become more personalized as the question presented are specifically model or designed for students according to their level of proficiency. With this, student will get to know their strength and weaknesses in their study as they will not move to a higher level of difficulty if they fail to score a certain rate. A comparative study among the current adaptive systems is done to identify the adaptive components that they applied, the techniques to implement the adaptive components and also the available features. This Web-based quiz system is an adaptive quiz system for student self-assessment with three main components: Student Model, Domain Model and Adaptation Model. Student model describes the student’s knowledge, domain model represents the teaching domain or the representation of the student model, while adaptation model consists of a set of rules that defines the user’s action. The Stereotypes and Overlay Model techniques are applied to model the student’s knowledge, the Semantic Network is applied to model the Domain Knowledge and the ‘IF-THEN’ rules is applied to model the Adaptation Model. Development of the system using the method of system development life cycle with object-oriented approach.
