    Internationalization strategy of a service firm: live forum TV in Hong Kong

    Throughout the age of globalization, the internationalization of business and entities grows importance. When considering a mode of internationalization, various different factors come into play that effect how to create a strategy for entering a new market. Regardless of cultures merging to a new global society, each market faces its own new challenges and obstacles coming from one country into the next. When studying the literature on the internationalization of services, a standardized strategy proves nonexistent, with limited scientific and academic the models and theories for the entry mode strategy. Nevertheless throughout the age of globalization, the internationalization of business and entities grows importance. This research will examine which country would prove as the best fit for the launch of Live Forum Foundation and furthermore analyse the risk in launching in that country. The objective of this research is to define what is the best fit internationalization strategy for the organization, foreign market will best sustain the launch of Live Forum TV, and what are the risks and recommendations in launching in that market. Live Forum TV is a television format created by the Foundation headed by Michael Davis. The TV format will be launched on local broadcasting in a foreign market that currently struggles with miscommunication between the government officials and public. The debates discussed on the TV program will prove as a solution for the inefficiencies nations currently face in a budding or developed democratic system. Hong Kong proves as the best-fit market for the internationalization of Live Forum TV as the telecommunication infrastructure of the market is the strongest in the Asia- Pacific region with high penetration of cable TV in households and usage of internetconnecting devices such as smartphones. Most importantly, Hong Kong currently faces a great need for solution to the political gridlock between pro-democratic and pro- Beijing forces that struggle to find a balance on topics such as universal suffrage

    This paper compares and contrasts Tokyo's innovation structure with the industrial districts model and the international hub model in the literature on urban and regional development. The Tokyo model embraces and yet transcends both industrial districts and international hub models. The paper details key elements making up the Tokyo model-organizational knowledge creation, integral and co-location systems of corporate R&D and new product development, test markets, industrial districts and clusters, participative consumer culture, continuous learning from abroad, local government policies, the national system of innovation, and the historical genesis of Tokyo in Japan's political economy. The paper finds that the Tokyo model of innovation will continue to evolve with the changing external environment, but fundamentally retains its main characteristics.     Impacts of S1 and X2 Interfaces on eMBMS Handover Failure: Solution and Performance Analysis

    In evolved Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (eMBMS), service continuity enables users move from one cell to another without interrupting eMBMS service. Unlike traditional handover in unicast transmission, a UE can receive eMBMS service in either unicast or multicast mode. In this paper, we point out a new handover failure problem in eMBMS due to the miss of rekeying information. We first take a close look at the new handover scenarios. We then investigate the problem by using comprehensive mathematical models. Our models provide insights on the new handover problem and introduce theoretical guidelines for mobile operators to design and optimize their networks without wide deployment to save cost and time. Moreover, we propose a solution to combat against the handover failure. Both the simulation and analytical results demonstrate that the impacts of the eMBMS handover failure are reduced significantly.     Proxy-based near real-time TV content transmission in mobility over 4G with MPEG-DASH transcoding on the cloud

    [EN] This paper presents and evaluates a system that provides TV and radio services in mobility using 4G communications. The system has mainly two blocks, one on the cloud and another on the mobile vehicle. On the cloud, a DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting) receiver obtains the TV/radio signal and prepares the contents to be sent through 4G. Specifically, contents are transcoded and packetized using the DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP) standard. Vehicles in mobility use their 4G connectivity to receive the flows transmitted by the cloud. The key element of the system is an on-board proxy that manages the received flows and offers them to the final users in the vehicle. The proxy contains a buffer that helps reduce the number of interruptions caused by hand over effects and lack of coverage. The paper presents a comparison between a live transmission using 4G connecting the clients directly with the cloud server and a near real-time transmission based on an on-board proxy.     This is the sixth in a series of reports to be produced by the Transport Visions Network. The Network is a novel venture to project the views of young professionals into the debate concerning the future of transport and its role in society. It is comprised of individuals who are aged 35 or under from universities, consultancies and public authorities both in the UK and overseas.This report presents the Network's views on the future of long distance travel. It begins by considering the current and projected future context for long distance travel. It discusses present policy approaches before introducing the Network's own ideas and solutions which are presented under four headings: 1. Domestic Business Travel; 2. Domestic Leisure Travel; 3. International Business Travel; and 4. International Leisure Travel. Each section concludes with a vision for the future of long distance travel based on the integration of ideas and solutions developed in the section.
