Pristup specifikaciji i generisanju proizvodnih procesa zasnovan na inženjerstvu vođenom modelima
In this thesis, we present an approach to the production process specification and generation based on the model-driven paradigm, with the goal to increase the flexibility of factories and respond to the challenges that emerged in the era of Industry 4.0 more efficiently. To formally specify production processes and their variations in the Industry 4.0 environment, we created a novel domain-specific modeling language, whose models are machine-readable. The created language can be used to model production processes that can be independent of any production system, enabling process models to be used in different production systems, and process models used for the specific production system. To automatically transform production process models dependent on the specific production system into instructions that are to be executed by production system resources, we created an instruction generator. Also, we created generators for different manufacturing documentation, which automatically transform production process models into manufacturing documents of different types. The proposed approach, domain-specific modeling language, and software solution contribute to introducing factories into the digital transformation process. As factories must rapidly adapt to new products and their variations in the era of Industry 4.0, production must be dynamically led and instructions must be automatically sent to factory resources, depending on products that are to be created on the shop floor. The proposed approach contributes to the creation of such a dynamic environment in contemporary factories, as it allows to automatically generate instructions from process models and send them to resources for execution. Additionally, as there are numerous different products and their variations, keeping the required manufacturing documentation up to date becomes challenging, which can be done automatically by using the proposed approach and thus significantly lower process designers' time. Додатно, услед великог броја различитих производа и њихових варијација, постаје изазовно одржавати неопходну техничку документацију, што је у предложеном приступу могуће урадити на аутоматизован начин и тиме значајно уштедети време пројектаната процеса.U ovoj disertaciji predstavljen je pristup specifikaciji i generisanju proizvodnih procesa zasnovan na inženjerstvu vođenom modelima, u cilju povećanja fleksibilnosti postrojenja u fabrikama i efikasnijeg razrešavanja izazova koji se pojavljuju u eri Industrije 4.0.
Semantic rules for capability matchmaking in the context of manufacturing system design and reconfiguration
To survive in dynamic markets and meet the changing requirements, manufacturing companies must rapidly design new production systems and reconfigure existing ones. The current designer-centric search of feasible resources from various catalogues is a time-consuming and laborious process, which limits the consideration of many different alternative resource solutions. This article presents the implementation of an automatic capability matchmaking approach and software, which searches through resource catalogues to find feasible resources and resource combinations for the processing requirements of the product. The approach is based on formal ontology-based descriptions of both products and resources and the semantic rules used to find the matches. The article focuses on these rules implemented with SPIN rule language. They relate to 1) inferring and asserting parameters of combined capabilities of combined resources and 2) comparison of the product characteristics against the capability parameters of the resource (combination). The presented case study proves that the matchmaking system can find feasible matches. However, a human designer must validate the result when making the final resource selection. The approach should speed up the system design and reconfiguration planning and allow more alternative solutions be considered, compared with traditional manual design approaches.publishedVersionPeer reviewe
Towards a General Complex Systems Model of Economic Sanctions with Some Results Outlining Consequences of Sanctions on the Russian Economy and the World
The main purpose of this paper is to present a complex nonlinear modelling approach to analyzing mixed capitalist economic systems. An application of a more elaborate version of this model is to explore the consequences of sanctions on the Russian economy and evaluate the model’s predictive successes or failures. Furthermore, the formal expanded nonlinear model presented in the appendix may be seen as an initial step to put the analysis of economic sanctions within a formal complex socio-economic systems framework. The results obtained from this structural complex multisectoral model so far seem fairly accurate in terms of agreement with measured values of observable economic variables. The political consequences are uncertain and are to be explored separately in a companion paper and ultimately in a book length treatment.
Methodologically, the paper also presents the case for using Social Accounting Matrix (SAM)-based models for understanding problems of analyzing sanctions in an economywide context. Linear as well as Nonlinear models are presented in the appendix. The nonlinear modelling approach might prove to be especially relevant for studying the properties of multiple equilibria and complex dynamics
Evaluating Architectural Safeguards for Uncertain AI Black-Box Components
Although tremendous progress has been made in Artificial Intelligence (AI), it entails new challenges. The growing complexity of learning tasks requires more complex AI components, which increasingly exhibit unreliable behaviour. In this book, we present a model-driven approach to model architectural safeguards for AI components and analyse their effect on the overall system reliability
Artificial Intelligence and International Conflict in Cyberspace
This edited volume explores how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming international conflict in cyberspace. Over the past three decades, cyberspace developed into a crucial frontier and issue of international conflict. However, scholarly work on the relationship between AI and conflict in cyberspace has been produced along somewhat rigid disciplinary boundaries and an even more rigid sociotechnical divide – wherein technical and social scholarship are seldomly brought into a conversation. This is the first volume to address these themes through a comprehensive and cross-disciplinary approach. With the intent of exploring the question ‘what is at stake with the use of automation in international conflict in cyberspace through AI?’, the chapters in the volume focus on three broad themes, namely: (1) technical and operational, (2) strategic and geopolitical and (3) normative and legal. These also constitute the three parts in which the chapters of this volume are organised, although these thematic sections should not be considered as an analytical or a disciplinary demarcation
Multi-Fidelity Bayesian Optimization for Efficient Materials Design
Materials design is a process of identifying compositions and structures to achieve
desirable properties. Usually, costly experiments or simulations are required to evaluate
the objective function for a design solution. Therefore, one of the major challenges is how
to reduce the cost associated with sampling and evaluating the objective. Bayesian
optimization is a new global optimization method which can increase the sampling
efficiency with the guidance of the surrogate of the objective. In this work, a new
acquisition function, called consequential improvement, is proposed for simultaneous
selection of the solution and fidelity level of sampling. With the new acquisition function,
the subsequent iteration is considered for potential selections at low-fidelity levels, because
evaluations at the highest fidelity level are usually required to provide reliable objective
values. To reduce the number of samples required to train the surrogate for molecular
design, a new recursive hierarchical similarity metric is proposed. The new similarity
metric quantifies the differences between molecules at multiple levels of hierarchy
simultaneously based on the connections between multiscale descriptions of the structures.
The new methodologies are demonstrated with simulation-based design of materials and
structures based on fully atomistic and coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations,
and finite-element analysis. The new similarity metric is demonstrated in the design of
tactile sensors and biodegradable oligomers. The multi-fidelity Bayesian optimization
method is also illustrated with the multiscale design of a piezoelectric transducer by
concurrently optimizing the atomic composition of the aluminum titanium nitride ceramic
and the device’s porous microstructure at the micrometer scale.Ph.D
Anpassen verteilter eingebetteter Anwendungen im laufenden Betrieb
The availability of third-party apps is among the key success factors for software ecosystems: The users benefit from more features and innovation speed, while third-party solution vendors can leverage the platform to create successful offerings.
However, this requires a certain decoupling of engineering activities of the different parties not achieved for distributed control systems, yet.
While late and dynamic integration of third-party components would be required, resulting control systems must provide high reliability regarding real-time requirements, which leads to integration complexity.
Closing this gap would particularly contribute to the vision of software-defined manufacturing, where an ecosystem of modern IT-based control system components could lead to faster innovations due to their higher abstraction and availability of various frameworks.
Therefore, this thesis addresses the research question:
How we can use modern IT technologies and enable independent evolution and easy third-party integration of software components in distributed control systems, where deterministic end-to-end reactivity is required, and especially, how can we apply distributed changes to such systems consistently and reactively during operation?
This thesis describes the challenges and related approaches in detail and points out that existing approaches do not fully address our research question.
To tackle this gap, a formal specification of a runtime platform concept is presented in conjunction with a model-based engineering approach.
The engineering approach decouples the engineering steps of component definition, integration, and deployment.
The runtime platform supports this approach by isolating the components, while still offering predictable end-to-end real-time behavior.
Independent evolution of software components is supported through a concept for synchronous reconfiguration during full operation, i.e., dynamic orchestration of components.
Time-critical state transfer is supported, too, and can lead to bounded quality degradation, at most.
The reconfiguration planning is supported by analysis concepts, including simulation of a formally specified system and reconfiguration, and analyzing potential quality degradation with the evolving dataflow graph (EDFG) method.
A platform-specific realization of the concepts, the real-time container architecture, is described as a reference implementation.
The model and the prototype are evaluated regarding their feasibility and applicability of the concepts by two case studies.
The first case study is a minimalistic distributed control system used in different setups with different component variants and reconfiguration plans to compare the model and the prototype and to gather runtime statistics.
The second case study is a smart factory showcase system with more challenging application components and interface technologies.
The conclusion is that the concepts are feasible and applicable, even though the concepts and the prototype still need to be worked on in future -- for example, to reach shorter cycle times.
Towards a framework for developing visual analytics in supply chain environments
Visual Analytics (VA) has shown to be of significant importance for Supply Chain (SC) analytics. However, SC partners still have challenges incorporating it into their data-driven decision-making activities. A conceptual framework for the development and deployment of a VA system provides an abstract, platform-independent model for the whole process of VA, covering requirement specification, data collection and pre-processing, visualization recommendation, visualization specification and implementation, and evaluations. In this paper, we propose such a framework based on three main aspects: 1) Business view, 2) Asset view, and 3) Technology view. Each of these views covers a set of steps to facilitate the development and maintenance of the system in its context. The framework follows a consistent process structure that comprises activities, tasks, and people. The final output of the whole process is the VA as a deliverable. This facilitates the alignment of VA activities with business processes and decision-making activities. We presented the framework's applicability using an actual usage scenario and left the implementation of the system for future work
CIDOC CRM as the basis of the Electronic State Register of Immovable Cultural Heritage of Ukraine
Abstract. The article is the final in a series of articles on Conceptual Provisions for the Creation of a New Electronic State Register of Immovable Cultural Heritage (CH) of Ukraine. These provisions correspond to the components of the Solutions Framework (SoFr) of special Spatial Information Systems (SpIS) defined in the monograph [15]. The special SpIS of the new registry of the CH of Ukraine should belong to the class of Atlas Geoinformation Systems (AGIS), which is described in [14]. The first queue of AGIS – AGIS-CH1 – is proposed as the first queue of the new electronic State Register of Immovable CH of Ukraine. The first queue should include, at least, three components that are simultaneously SoFr packages: Products-Processes-Basics. The conceptual provisions of AGIS-CH1 describe these three most important components of the architectural pattern of AGIS-CH1: AGIS-CH1.Products, Part 1 [17]; AGIS-CH1.Processes, Part 2 [18], AGIS-CH1.Basics, Part 3, consisting of two subparts, 3.1 and 3.2.
Subpart 3.1 is described in the article [19]. This article describes subpart 3.2, which is called "Basics. CIDOC CRM". It consists of two main sections. The first of these initially examines the prerequisites that lead to the use of CIDOC CRM. Such prerequisites are two evolutions: system and subject. System evolution claims that the time has come to consider the registry of the CH of Ukraine as a SpIS of the Web 3.0 Formation, also known as the Semantic Web, especially if we have in mind the creation of a new registry.
Subject evolution refers to the evolution of understanding of the domain of cultural heritage. From the review of this issue in the monograph [4], it is obvious that modern CH registers should be "process" rather than "product".
In order to proceed to the consideration of CIDOC CRM with a better understanding of the essence of the issue, the CHARM model (Cultural Heritage Abstract Reference Model) was considered. CIDOC CRM can also be considered as such, but CHARM is described in an excellent monograph [4] that is practically applicable, unlike the scattered articles on CIDOC CRM.
The second of the two main sections of the article deals with CIDOC CRM and its use. We do not describe CIDOC CRM completely. Attention is paid only to its "spatial" and "process" parts. In addition, attention is paid to the use of CIDOC CRM. For this, the information from the website (https://www.cidoc-crm.org/how-i-can-use-cidoc-crm, 2023-jun-26) is used first. Then there is some initial information about the Arches software platform. We offer the Arches platform for the implementation of AGIS-CH1.
