A Standardized Wound Care Nursing Education Program

Patients with vascular wounds are medically complex and require registered nurses (RNs) with specialized education in vascular disease and vascular wound care to assess and freat their wounds. A standardized vascular wound nursing education program was developed for RNs at affiliate regional clinics to provide specialized education on types of vascular wounds, co-morbid diseases associated with vascular wounds, diagnostic procedr:res used to diagnose vascular diseases, treatments to improve vasculature to the wound, debridement of wounds, and wound care products used to treat the wound and promote healing. An interactive nursing education progrirm containing three nursing education modules was created for new and experienced RNs who desire to work with vascular wounds. The interactive wound care nursing education program will provide a standard of nursing care for patients with vascular wounds. RNs at the affiliate regional clinics will provide improved patient care as they implement current evidence based practice for patients with vascular wounds. Patients will also benefit as they experience decreased costs of care and improved access to care

The 15th International CDIO Conference: Proceedings – Full Papers

We discuss a conceptual thesis structure model and visual tool for enhancing the writing process in the context of an engineering Master’s thesis. Our model is based on visualizing the thesis as a series of funnels that adjust the writing focus to the desired scope in each individual chapter. At the end of the thesis, the focus is widened back into the original topic area with a reflection on how the solutions proposed in the thesis have impacted or potentially will impact the field. Using our model gives students the opportunity to write a good Master’s thesis in various engineering disciplines. In our experience, the Focus Funnel approach has been very useful and effective, resulting in an overall improvement in the quality of engineering Master’s theses in our degree program.</p
