Color enhancement of landsat agricultural imagery: JPL LACIE image processing support task

    Get PDF
Color enhancement techniques were applied to LACIE LANDSAT segments to determine if such enhancement can assist analysis in crop identification. The procedure involved increasing the color range by removing correlation between components. First, a principal component transformation was performed, followed by contrast enhancement to equalize component variances, followed by an inverse transformation to restore familiar color relationships. Filtering was applied to lower order components to reduce color speckle in the enhanced products. Use of single acquisition and multiple acquisition statistics to control the enhancement were compared, and the effects of normalization investigated. Evaluation is left to LACIE personnel

Video enhancement using adaptive spatio-temporal connective filter and piecewise mapping

This paper presents a novel video enhancement system based on an adaptive spatio-temporal connective (ASTC) noise filter and an adaptive piecewise mapping function (APMF). For ill-exposed videos or those with much noise, we first introduce a novel local image statistic to identify impulse noise pixels, and then incorporate it into the classical bilateral filter to form ASTC, aiming to reduce the mixture of the most two common types of noises - Gaussian and impulse noises in spatial and temporal directions. After noise removal, we enhance the video contrast with APMF based on the statistical information of frame segmentation results. The experiment results demonstrate that, for diverse low-quality videos corrupted by mixed noise, underexposure, overexposure, or any mixture of the above, the proposed system can automatically produce satisfactory results

A Study on Clustering for Clustering Based Image De-Noising

In this paper, the problem of de-noising of an image contaminated with Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) is studied. This subject is an open problem in signal processing for more than 50 years. Local methods suggested in recent years, have obtained better results than global methods. However by more intelligent training in such a way that first, important data is more effective for training, second, clustering in such way that training blocks lie in low-rank subspaces, we can design a dictionary applicable for image de-noising and obtain results near the state of the art local methods. In the present paper, we suggest a method based on global clustering of image constructing blocks. As the type of clustering plays an important role in clustering-based de-noising methods, we address two questions about the clustering. The first, which parts of the data should be considered for clustering? and the second, what data clustering method is suitable for de-noising.? Then clustering is exploited to learn an over complete dictionary. By obtaining sparse decomposition of the noisy image blocks in terms of the dictionary atoms, the de-noised version is achieved. In addition to our framework, 7 popular dictionary learning methods are simulated and compared. The results are compared based on two major factors: (1) de-noising performance and (2) execution time. Experimental results show that our dictionary learning framework outperforms its competitors in terms of both factors.Comment: 9 pages, 8 figures, Journal of Information Systems and Telecommunications (JIST

Robust massive MIMO Equilization for mmWave systems with low resolution ADCs

Leveraging the available millimeter wave spectrum will be important for 5G. In this work, we investigate the performance of digital beamforming with low resolution ADCs based on link level simulations including channel estimation, MIMO equalization and channel decoding. We consider the recently agreed 3GPP NR type 1 OFDM reference signals. The comparison shows sequential DCD outperforms MMSE-based MIMO equalization both in terms of detection performance and complexity. We also show that the DCD based algorithm is more robust to channel estimation errors. In contrast to the common believe we also show that the complexity of MMSE equalization for a massive MIMO system is not dominated by the matrix inversion but by the computation of the Gram matrix.Comment: submitted to WCNC 2018 Workshop

Image enhancement and restoration is pre-request of computer vision. The distortion and degradation of image suffered the process of pattern matching and quality of image. Wavelet is very important transform function play a role in image enhancement and image de-noising. The concept of wavelet used as soft thresholding and hard thresholding. A processing of data through wavelet is very efficient in process of neural network. In this paper we discuss the proposed algorithm for image enhancement based on self organized map network and wavelet transform. Basically self organized map network is unsupervised training mechanisms of pattern, due to this reason the processing of network is very fast in compression of another artificial neural network method. And the combination of wavelet and self organized map network have great advantage over conventional method such as histogram equalization and multi-point histogram equalization and another conventional technique of image enhancement
