Implementing the multimodel generalized beta estimator in stata and its application
The multimodel generalized beta estimator (MGBE) described by von Hippel, Scarpino and Hola (2014) provides researchers with an improved way to estimate inequality from binned incomes. To extend the application of MGBE, the mgbe command is developed in Stata. In this report, the implementation and performance of mgbe are discussed.Statistic
Generalized Exponentiated Moment Exponential Distribution
Moment distributions have a vital role in mathematics and statistics, in particular in probability theory, in the perspective research related to ecology, reliability, biomedical field, econometrics, survey sampling and in life-testing. Hasnain (2013) developed an exponentiated moment exponential (EME) distribution and discussed some of its important properties. In the present work, we propose a generalization of EME distribution which we call it generalized EME (GEME) distribution and develop various properties of the distribution. We also present characterizations of the distribution in terms of conditional expectation as well as based on hazard function of the GEME random variable
Generalising Exponential Distributions Using an Extended Marshall-Olkin Procedure
This paper presents a three-parameter family of distributions which includes the common
exponential and the Marshall–Olkin exponential as special cases. This distribution exhibits a
monotone failure rate function, which makes it appealing for practitioners interested in reliability,
and means it can be included in the catalogue of appropriate non-symmetric distributions to
model these issues, such as the gamma and Weibull three-parameter families. Given the lack of
symmetry of this kind of distribution, various statistical and reliability properties of this model are
examined. Numerical examples based on real data reflect the suitable behaviour of this distribution
for modelling purposes
