Consensus image method for unknown noise removal
Noise removal has been, and it is nowadays, an important task in computer vision. Usually, it is a previous task preceding other tasks, as segmentation or reconstruction. However, for most existing denoising algorithms the noise model has to be known in advance. In this paper, we introduce a new approach based on consensus to deal with unknown noise models. To do this, different filtered images are obtained, then combined using multifuzzy sets and averaging aggregation functions. The final decision is made by using a penalty function to deliver the compromised image. Results show that this approach is consistent and provides a good compromise between filters.This work is supported by the European Commission under Contract No. 238819 (MIBISOC Marie Curie ITN). H. Can many-valued logic help to comprehend quantum phenomena?
Following {\L}ukasiewicz, we argue that future non-certain events should be
described with the use of many-valued, not 2-valued logic. The
Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger `paradox' is shown to be an artifact caused by
unjustified use of 2-valued logic while considering results of future
non-certain events. Description of properties of quantum objects before they
are measured should be performed with the use of propositional functions that
form a particular model of infinitely-valued {\L}ukasiewicz logic. This model
is distinguished by specific operations of negation, conjunction, and

From Classical Logic to Fuzzy Logic and Quantum Logic: A General View
The aim of this article is to offer a concise and unitary vision upon the algebraic connections between classical logic and its generalizations, such as fuzzy logic and quantum logic. The mathematical concept which governs any kind of logic is that of lattice. Therefore, the lattices are the basic tools in this presentation. The Hilbert spaces theory is important in the study of quantum logic and it has also been used in the present paper
Photograph indexing and retrieval using star-graphs
International audienceWe present in this paper a relational approach for indexing and retrieving photographs from a collection. Instead of using simple keywords as an indexing language, we propose to use star-graphs as document descriptors. A star-graph is a conceptual graph that contains a single relation, with some concepts linked to it. They are elementary pieces of information describing combinations of concepts. We use star-graphs as descriptors - or index terms - for image content representation. This allows for relational indexing and expression of complex user needs, in comparison to classical text retrieval, where simple keywords are generally used as document descriptors. We present a document representation model, a weighting scheme for star-graphs inspired by the tf.idf used in text retrieval. We have applied our model to image retrieval, and show the system evaluation results
