Business models for sustained ehealth implementation: lessons from two continents
There is general consensus that Computers and Information Technology have the potential to enhance health systems applications, and many good examples of such applications exist all over the world. Unfortunately, with respect to eHealth and telemedicine, there is much disillusionment and scepticism. This paper describes two models that were developed separately, but had the same purpose, namely to facilitate a holistic approach to the development and implementation of eHealth solutions. The roadmap of the Centre for eHealth Research (CeHRes roadmap) was developed in the Netherlands, and the Telemedicine Maturity Model (TMMM) was developed in South Africa. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the commonalities and differences of these approaches, and to explore how they can be used to complement each other. The first part of this paper comprises of a comparison of these models in terms of origin, research domain and design principles. Case comparisons are then presented to illustrate how these models complement one another
Framework for selecting manufacturing simulation software in industry 4.0 environment
Even though the use of simulation software packages is widespread in industrial and manufacturing companies, the criteria and methods proposed in the scientific literature to evaluate them do not adequately help companies in identifying a package able to enhance the efficiency of their production system. Hence, the main objective of this paper is to develop a framework to guide companies in choosing the most suitable manufacturing simulation software package. The evaluation framework developed in this study is based on two different multi-criteria methods: analytic hierarchy process (AHP) integrated with benefits, opportunities, costs, risks (BOCR) analysis and the best-worst method (BWM). The framework was developed on the basis of the suggestions from the literature and from a panel of experts, both from academia and industry, trying to capture all the facets of the software selection problem. For testing purposes, the proposed approach was applied to a mid-sized enterprise located in the south of Italy, which was facing the problem of buying an effective simulation software for Participatory Design. From a practical perspective, the application showed that the framework is effective in identifying the most suitable simulation software package according to the needs of the company. From a theoretical point of view, the multi-criteria methods suggested in the framework have never been applied to the problem of selecting simulation software; their usage in this context could bring some advantages compared to other decision-making tools
A model to assess customer alignment through customer experience concepts
Business and Information Technology Alignment (BITA) has been one of the main
concerns of IT and Business executives and directors due to its importance to
overall company performance, especially today in the age of digital
transformation. For BITA has been developed several models which in general has
focused in the implementation of alignment strategies for the internal
operation of the organizations and in the measurement of this internal
alignment, but, there is still a big gap in measurement models of the alignment
with the external environment of the organizations. In this paper is presented
the design and application of a maturity measurement model for BITA with the
customers, where the customers are actors of the external environment of the
companies. The proposed model involves evaluation criteria and business
practices which the companies ideally do for improve the relationship with

Big Data Evaluation Scorecard
This study seeks to examine the evolution of issues that have been espoused by both junior and senior scholars to aggregate out of literature, a criterion that can guide firms in evaluating their Big data analytic (BDA) projects. The systematic review approach took stock of varied socio-technical understanding, requirements, and capabilities used in addressing Big data issues and synthesized these issues for value accruals.
The study strongly argues that Big data benefits accrue to firms whose economic activities require distributed collaborative effort, operational visibilities, cost, and time-sensitive decisions who adopt and implement the concept in their strategic, tactical, and operational levels. Though the trend shows steady growth in scholarsâ interests and expectations in BDA, a significant percentage of the reviewed studies were not informed by any theory. The study contributes to BDA literature by affording scholars issue gaps and for practitioners, an analytical competency and evaluation scorecard that links strategic business goals to operational outcomes

Does patience pay? : empirical testing of the option to delay accepting a tender offer in the U.S. banking sector
We examine the empirical predictions of a real option-pricing model using a large sample of data on mergers and acquisitions in the U.S. banking sector. We provide estimates for the option value that the target bank has in waiting for a higher bid instead of accepting an initial tender offer. We find empirical support for a model that estimates the value of an option to wait in accepting an initial tender offer. Market prices reflect a premium for the option to wait to accept an offer that has a mean value of almost 12.5% for a sample of 424 mergers and acquisitions between 1997 and 2005 in the U.S. banking industry. Regression analysis reveals that the option price is related to both the price to book market and the free cash flow of target banks. We conclude that it is certainly in the shareholders best interest if subsequent offers are awaited. JEL Classification: G34, C1
