Improving sport brands’ reputation through marketing events
The rationale of this paper is to highlight how a marketing event can be used as a promotional tool by a sporting organization. A case study approach has been chosen for the demonstration. The major findings of the research are that integrating a marketing event in the promotional mix can help a football league to better identify itself with its target consumers and to increase its brand value, while also offering an unforgettable experience for the participants. There are two important implications this paper could have. The first one would be to help researchers and practicioners realize that there is a difference between a sporting event and a marketing event. The confusion will be cleared in the Introduction of the case study. The second one would be to show sport marketers how a given event can be marketed. Therefore, the paper makes another difference, between „marketingevents” and „eventmarketing. Eventmarketing represents the core of the paper: the stages of event production, event promotion and event distribution (consumption) are largely investigated.sport marketing, marketing events, eventmarketing.
Devil in the Making: Sino-Japanese Wartime Cultural Products in China and Its Influence on Chinese Nationalism
This paper aims to provide a possible interpretation of the role of Sino-Japanese wartime cultural products in shaping Chinese nationalism through a cultural sociological analysis. The concept of “wartime cultural products” in this paper does not refer to the cultural products produced during wartime; instead, it refers to the cultural products with war as the topic. In order to give a hint of the role of Sino-Japanese wartime cultural products in shaping Chinese nationalism, the author asks the following two specific questions and will answer them in the main body of this paper: 1) what is the deep cultural structure of the anti-Japanese culture products? 2) how does the deep cultural structure shape current Chinese nationalism and anti-Japanese action? “Deep cultural structure” here means the objective but non-public codes and logic, which is different from the surface structure that can be obtained easil

“Reread me backwards”: Deciphering the Past in Elizabeth Bowen’s The Heat of the Day
Set during the midst of the London Blitz, Elizabeth Bowen’s The Heat of the Day revolves
around a narrative of espionage, but unlike many novels from the spy genre, it refuses to
disclose all of its secrets. Instead, the novel’s dense and complex language, which so effectively
expresses the dislocating effects of a city under attack, resists an easy or uncomplicated
reading. This article examines the motif of reading within the novel, which manifests when its
protagonist, Stella Rodney, learns her lover Robert is a Nazi spy. In her efforts to locate proof
of his defection, Stella becomes caught in a recurrent but indeterminable task of rereading
past events, a movement which attempts to remember the past but also foregrounds a
fundamental inability to ever wholly resolve its enigmas. When Stella fails to read her past for
lost clues, she is prevented from viewing the events of her life as a coherent and meaningful
narrative. The novel’s difficult language reflects this lack of resolution, refusing to assimilate
the events it depicts into a straightforward account. With its wartime setting as a disorienting
backdrop, The Heat of the Day undermines the purpose of reading as the discovery of sense
and meaning, producing instead only more questions and mysteries
Usos públicos de passados ditatoriais: Visualizações na Alemanha
This article aims to reconstruct the visualization of the past in Germany between 1945 and 2005. The remembrances of the National Socialism shows the myriad ways in which Germans have sought to memorialize this dark part of their history. The remembrances of the experiences of the Holocaust and the Nazism were incorporated in the society according to political situations. In this study we found five different stages that describe multiple discussions over forgetting and memory. In order to examine this subject, we offer an analysis based on a theoretical framework and historical events.Este artigo objetiva reconstruir a visualização do passado na Alemanha entre 1945 e 2005.
