A knowledge-based system for the automatic chronopotentiometric elucidation of electrode reaction mechanisms

    Get PDF
A knowledge-based system for the elucidation of electrode reaction mechanisms based on chronopotentiometric experiments is described. The system runs the diagnostic experiments and uses the results in the reasoning process. New mechanistic knowledge can be added directly to its knowledge base in the form of production rules. The system is fully modular and its domain- specific modules can easily be changed for application to other electrochemical techniques. Correct operation of the system is demonstrated with the familiar reduction mechanisms of cadmium (II), zinc (II), cystamine and cinnamaldehyde

Microcomputer-controlled polarographic instrumentation and its use in the determination of stability constants of crown ether complexes

    Get PDF
A computer-controlled polarographic system is described, based on a commercially available polarograph interfaced to a microcomputer. Experiments are controlled and monitored entirely from software, including automatic evaluation of the Tast polarograms and addition of solutions to the polarographic cell from a motor burette. The program was written in FORTH, a computer language especially apt for laboratory automation. The system is used in the determination of stability constants of crown ether complexes

Advanced instrumentation concepts for environmental control subsystems

    Get PDF
Design, evaluation and demonstration of advanced instrumentation concepts for improving performance of manned spacecraft environmental control and life support systems were successfully completed. Concepts to aid maintenance following fault detection and isolation were defined. A computer-guided fault correction instruction program was developed and demonstrated in a packaged unit which also contains the operator/system interface

NASA JSC water monitor system: City of Houston field demonstration

    Get PDF
A water quality monitoring system with on-line and real time operation similar to the function in a spacecraft was investigated. A system with the capability to determine conformance to future high effluent quality standards and to increase the potential for reclamation and reuse of water was designed. Although all system capabilities were not verified in the initial field trial, fully automated operation over a sustained period with only routine manual adjustments was accomplished. Two major points were demonstrated: (1) the water monitor system has great potential in water monitoring and/or process control applications; and (2) the water monitor system represents a vast improvement over conventional (grab sample) water monitoring techniques

Six-man, self-contained carbon dioxide concentrator subsystem for Space Station Prototype (SSP) application

    Get PDF
A six man, self contained, electrochemical carbon dioxide concentrating subsystem for space station prototype use was successfully designed, fabricated, and tested. A test program was successfully completed which covered shakedown testing, design verification testing, and acceptance testing

Computerized cyclic voltammetric detection after HPLC of the antineoplastic agents etoposide, teniposide, adriamycin and its metabolite adriamycinol in urine samples
