    My(o) Armband Leaks Passwords: An EMG and IMU Based Keylogging Side-Channel Attack

    Wearables that constantly collect various sensor data of their users increase the chances for inferences of unintentional and sensitive information such as passwords typed on a physical keyboard. We take a thorough look at the potential of using electromyographic (EMG) data, a sensor modality which is new to the market but has lately gained attention in the context of wearables for augmented reality (AR), for a keylogging side-channel attack. Our approach is based on neural networks for a between-subject attack in a realistic scenario using the Myo Armband to collect the sensor data. In our approach, the EMG data has proven to be the most prominent source of information compared to the accelerometer and gyroscope, increasing the keystroke detection performance. For our end-to-end approach on raw data, we report a mean balanced accuracy of about 76 % for the keystroke detection and a mean top-3 key accuracy of about 32 % on 52 classes for the key identification on passwords of varying strengths. We have created an extensive dataset including more than 310 000 keystrokes recorded from 37 volunteers, which is available as open access along with the source code used to create the given results

    Examining participatory sense-making frames: how autonomous patterns of being together emerge in recurrent social interaction

    This thesis investigates how recurrent face-to-face social interactions engender relatively invariant patterns of being together that cause those who instantiate them to act in ways that support their reproduction. Existing accounts within both cognitive science and sociology offer important insights into the consideration of patterns of being together. However, given their explanatory strategies, they struggle to integrate both ‘social’ and ‘individual’ levels of explanation. Herein a compatibilist account is developed, intended as a ‘third way’ that obviates the limitations of existing accounts. This compatibilist account — by integrating insights from across disciplines and theoretical frameworks — develops a philosophical vocabulary with which to maintain explanatory consistency when articulating patterns of being together and moving between individual and social levels of explanation. It relies heavily on an extension of the enactive notion of autonomous habits to the social domain, redescribing patterns of being together as habituated participatory sense-making frames. Participatory sense-making frames result from processes of coenhabiting, i.e. processes of ongoing social habit making implicit in the dynamics of recurrent social interactions. Such processes are one primary means by which we produce and reproduce the relatively stable forms that characterise our shared worlds. These habituated frames embed much of the normativity of social life, and can serve our felicitous coordinations therein, allowing us to feel well situated, particularly in contexts within which we have some history of interacting. However, when they are not well aligned, they lead to tensions that result in either the production of novel frames or breakdowns in social interaction. The account developed has implications for many domains of human action, from psychotherapy to epistemology, and from critical studies to the development of political and ecological praxes

    Towards Energy Efficient Mobile Eye Tracking for AR Glasses through Optical Sensor Technology

    After the introduction of smartphones and smartwatches, Augmented Reality (AR) glasses are considered the next breakthrough in the field of wearables. While the transition from smartphones to smartwatches was based mainly on established display technologies, the display technology of AR glasses presents a technological challenge. Many display technologies, such as retina projectors, are based on continuous adaptive control of the display based on the user’s pupil position. Furthermore, head-mounted systems require an adaptation and extension of established interaction concepts to provide the user with an immersive experience. Eye-tracking is a crucial technology to help AR glasses achieve a breakthrough through optimized display technology and gaze-based interaction concepts. Available eye-tracking technologies, such as Video Oculography (VOG), do not meet the requirements of AR glasses, especially regarding power consumption, robustness, and integrability. To further overcome these limitations and push mobile eye-tracking for AR glasses forward, novel laser-based eye-tracking sensor technologies are researched in this thesis. The thesis contributes to a significant scientific advancement towards energy-efficientmobile eye-tracking for AR glasses. In the first part of the thesis, novel scanned laser eye-tracking sensor technologies for AR glasses with retina projectors as display technology are researched. The goal is to solve the disadvantages of VOG systems and to enable robust eye-tracking and efficient ambient light and slippage through optimized sensing methods and algorithms. The second part of the thesis researches the use of static Laser Feedback Interferometry (LFI) sensors as low power always-on sensor modality for detection of user interaction by gaze gestures and context recognition through Human Activity Recognition (HAR) for AR glasses. The static LFI sensors can measure the distance to the eye and the eye’s surface velocity with an outstanding sampling rate. Furthermore, they offer high integrability regardless of the display technology. In the third part of the thesis, a model-based eye-tracking approach is researched based on the static LFI sensor technology. The approach leads to eye-tracking with an extremely high sampling rate by fusing multiple LFI sensors, which enables methods for display resolution enhancement such as foveated rendering for AR glasses and Virtual Reality (VR) systems. The scientific contributions of this work lead to a significant advance in the field of mobile eye-tracking for AR glasses through the introduction of novel sensor technologies that enable robust eye tracking in uncontrolled environments in particular.     Abstract— Online transportation has become a basic requirement of the general public in support of all activities to go to work, school or vacation to the sights. Public transportation services compete to provide the best service so that consumers feel comfortable using the services offered, so that all activities are noticed, one of them is the search for the shortest route in picking the buyer or delivering to the destination. Node Combination method can minimize memory usage and this methode is more optimal when compared to A* and Ant Colony in the shortest route search like Dijkstra algorithm, but can’t store the history node that has been passed. Therefore, using node combination algorithm is very good in searching the shortest distance is not the shortest route. This paper is structured to modify the node combination algorithm to solve the problem of finding the shortest route at the dynamic location obtained from the transport fleet by displaying the nodes that have the shortest distance and will be implemented in the geographic information system in the form of map to facilitate the use of the system.     Psychological Engagement in Choice and Judgment Under Risk and Uncertainty

    Theories of choice and judgment assume that agents behave rationally, choose the higher expected value option, and evaluate the choice consistently (Expected Utility Theory, Von Neumann, & Morgenstern, 1947). However, researchers in decision-making showed that human behaviour is different in choice and judgement tasks (Slovic & Lichtenstein, 1968; 1971; 1973). In this research, we propose that psychological engagement and control deprivation predict behavioural inconsistencies and utilitarian performance with judgment and choice. Moreover, we explore the influences of engagement and control deprivation on agent’s behaviours, while manipulating content of utility (Kusev et al., 2011, Hertwig & Gigerenzer 1999, Tversky & Khaneman, 1996) and decision reward (Kusev et al, 2013, Shafir et al., 2002)
