Blockchain-based trust management and authentication of devices in smart grid
The digitalization of the power grid and advancement in intelligent technologies have enabled the service provider to convert the existing electrical grid into a smart grid. The transformation of the grid will help in integrating cleaner energy technologies with energy management to improve power network efficiency. Internet of things (IoT) and various network components need to be deployed to harness the full potential of the smart grid. Also, integrating intermittent renewable energy sources, energy storage, intelligent control of selected power-intensive loads, etc will improve energy efficiency. But deployment of this information and communication technologies will make the grid more vulnerable to cyber attacks from hackers. In this work, blockchain-based self-sovereign identification and authentication technique is presented to avert identity theft and masquerading. The proposed approach can minimize the chances of identity-based security breaches in the smart grid. This paper provides an overview of the model of identification and authentication of IoT devices in Smart Grid based on Blockchain technology. The Blockchain based implementation of identification and authentication of devices is proposed to validate the model in the distributed electrical energy network. The model is able to authenticate the device using Blockchain in a trusted model. The system works according to plan validating the authenticity of transaction in a node in log(n) time, which justifies presented result.publishedVersio

Performance analysis of blockchain-based smart grid with Ethereum and Hyperledger implementations
Abstract. Smart grids lay the foundation for future communities. Smart homes, smart buildings, smart streets, and smart offices are built when intelligent devices piles on intelligent devices. To reach the maximum capacity, they all must be supported by an intelligent power supply. For optimal and real-time electricity consumption, monitoring and trading, blockchain possess number of potential benefits in its application to electricity infrastructure. A comprehensive system architecture of blockchain-based smart grid is proposed and peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading is implemented between Distribution System Operators (DSO), Local energy providers and Consumers.
This thesis presents a virtual smart grid equipped with smart contracts capable of virtual activities like market payment function and the comparison and the performance of the blockchain-based smart grid by using Ethereum and Hyperledger Fabric-based implementations. The challenges faced during the implementation of blockchain protocols are discussed and evaluation in the light of finding sustainable solutions to develop secure and reliable smart grid operations, is the major objective of the thesis
Enabling interoperable distributed ledger technology with legacy platforms for enterprise digitalization
Presently to achieve enterprise digitalization technologies such as Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) has now been deployed to support digital services provided by enterprises. But several challenges in DLTs remain to be addressed, including the interoperability, standardization, and integration. Therefore, this study provides theoretical and practical understanding of DLT interoperability and identified the factors that influence the interoperability of DLTs. Also, an architecture is designed to shows how interoperability can be achieved in DLTs and legacy systems supported by Application Programming Interface (API). A case study is presented to illustrate the applicability of the architecture to support a digital energy marketplace.acceptedVersio
