There is a growing awareness of the importance of system evaluation directly with end-users in realistic environments, and as a result some novel applications have been deployed to the real world and evaluated in trial contexts. While this is certainly a desirable trend to relate a technical system to a real user-oriented perspective, most of these efforts do not involve end-user participation right from the start of the development, but only after deploying it. In this paper we describe our research in designing, deploying and assessing the impact of a web-based tool that incorporates multimedia techniques to support movie analysis and browsing for students of film studies. From the very start and throughout the development we utilize methodologies from usability engineering in order to feed in end-user needs and thus tailoring the underlying technical system to those needs. Starting by capturing real users’ current practices and matching them to the available technical elements of the system, we deployed an initial version of our system to University classes for a semester during which we obtained an extensive amount of rich usage data. We describe the process and some of the findings from this trial

Exploring the usage of a video application tool: Experiences in film studies

This paper explores our experiences in deploying a video application tool in film studies, and its evaluation in terms of realistic contextual end-users who have real tasks to perform in a real environment. We demonstrate our experiences and core lesson learnt in deploying our novel movie browser application with undergraduate and graduate students completing a Film Studies course in Dublin City University over a semester. We developed a system called MOVIEBROWSER2 that has two types of browsing modes: Advanced and Basic. In general, students found that the features we provided were beneficial for their studies. Some issues or mismatches arose during the trial. A ‘wish-list’ was drawn up that might be useful for the future system developer. The contribution and achievements reported in this article are on the demonstration and exploration of how advances in technology can be deployed, and media can be accessed in the context of a real user community. Exploring the usage indicates a positive acceptance among students, besides lessons learned that are important for further investigation

At this modern phase of technology now it has turned out to be potential for public with fairly low practical talents to pinch thousands of pounds in a time in staying their homes. Therefore, all manufacturing firms, the competent commercial method governed through horizontal split-up of production developments, expert services and sales channels etc., (each requiring specialized skills and resources), in addition to that a good deal of business at expenses set by the market forces of quantity and claim. Accordingly, Cybercrime is no different; where it claims a floating worldwide market for skills, tools and finished product. Even it consumes its own money. The augmentation of cybercrime is in distinguishably associated to the ubiquity of credit card dealings and also for the online bank accounts. Cybercrime has developed a business and the demographic of the distinctive cybercriminal is fluctuating promptly, from bedroom-bound weed to the form of structured mobster more conventionally connected with drug-trafficking, coercion and currency decontaminating. The existing research hosts an organized and reliable methodology for digital criminological examination. As a result, the digital forensic science affords the tools, methods and technically upheld approaches that can be castoff to procure and explore the digital evidence. The digital forensic analysis need to be rescued to acquire the signals that will be recognized in the court of law. This study highlights on a organized and unswerving method to digital forensic analysis. In further, this research target sin categorizing the actions that enable and advance the digital forensic investigation practices. The top most cybercrime and prevailing digital forensic framework will be appraised and then the investigation will be assembled

Survey on Link Prediction and Page Ranking In Blogs S.Geetha

This paper presents a study of the various aspects of link prediction and page ranking in blogs. Social networks have taken on a new eminence from the prospect of the analysis of social networks, which is a recent area of research which grew out of the social sciences as well as the exact sciences, especially with the computing capacity for mathematical calculations and even modelling which was previously impossible. An essential element of social media, particularly blogs, is the hyperlink graph that connects various pieces of content. Link prediction has many applications, including recommending new items in online networks (e.g., products in eBay and Amazon, and friends in Face book), monitoring and preventing criminal activities in a criminal network, predicting the next web page users will visit, and complementing missing links in automatic web data crawlers. Page Rank is the technique used by Google to determine importance of page on the web. It considers all incoming links to a page as votes for Page Rank. Our findings provide an overview of social relations and we address the problem of page ranking and link prediction in networked data, which appears in many applications such as network analysis or recommended systems. Keywords- web log, social networks analysis, readership, link prediction, Page ranking. I

Web Usability Probe: A Tool for Supporting Remote Usability Evaluation of Web Sites

    Get PDF
Abstract. Usability evaluation of Web sites is still a difficult and time-consuming task, often performed manually. This paper presents a tool that supports remote usability evaluation of Web sites. The tool considers client-side data on user interactions and JavaScript events. In addition, it allows the definition of custom events, giving evaluators the flexibility to add specific events to be detected and considered in the evaluation. The tool supports evaluation of any Web site by exploiting a proxy-based architecture and enables the evaluator to perform a comparison between actual user behavior and an optimal sequence of actions
