    SOA-RTDBS: A service oriented architecture (SOA) supporting real time database systems

    With the increase of complexity in Real-time Database Systems (RTDBS), the amount of data that needs to be managed has also increased. Adoption of a RTDBS as a tightly integrated part of the SOA development process can give significant benefits with respect to data management. However, the variability of data management requirements in different systems, and its heterogeneity may require a distinct database configuration. We addressed the challenges that face RTDB managers who intend to adopt RTDBS in SOA market; we also introduce a service oriented approach to RTDBS analytics and describe how this is used to measure and to monitor the security system. A SOA approach for generating RTDBS configurations suitable for resource-constrained real-time systems using Service Oriented Architecture tools to assist developers with design and analysis of services of developed or new systems was also explored

    Research on Spatial Database Design and Tuning Based on Oracle and ARCSDE

    With the development of the Database technology and Geographic Information System technology, the spatial data managing mode go through three stages, entirely File system management, File system and Relation Database System mixed management and entirely Database management. At the same time database model also develop from Relation Model, Object-Relation Model, to Object- oriented Model. At the present time there are two main spatial database management approaches using commercial database. One is using Spatial Data Engine (Such as ArcSDE) in the Relation Database Management System. The other is using Object-Relation Database. Whichever spatial database management approach is used, in practical project we need a set of technics flow about the data preparing, database design, database configuration and tuning. Especially in commercial database, the rational database design, configuration and tuning are more important. In this article the experiment construct a fundamental spatial database system for Tibet province using Geodatabase model of the ArcSDE and the Oracle database management System. Concretely, the main fields are researched as following: (1) Analyse the character of fundamental spatial data including the Digital Orthophoto Map data, the Digital Elevation Modal data, the Digital Raster Graphic data and the Digital line Graphic data. And scheme out a data processing plan for spatial database construction. (2) Rationally Design Database, this process includes the design for Geodatabase model and the design for Oracle database. (3) Configure and tune Oracle database, this process includes the configuration of the table and index of the spatial object and the configuration and tuning of the database initial parameters

    Automating the management of software projects in a developing IT economy

    Software project management is the control of the transformation of users’ requirements and resources into a successful software result (product). This work automates the management of software projects in an emerging IT economy like Nigeria. It also explores the simulation of management practices such as configuration management and risk management. The COCOMO II model was employed for the estimation process, while the Risk Model from The American Systems Corporation (ASC) was used for risk management. Experimental data was obtained from AcadSoft Solutions, Calabar, Unical Computer Centre, and OmegaBiz.ng Software Solutions & Consultancy, Calabar. The resultant network-based software tool was developed on object-oriented technology using Java. The study established that good management practices may still be applied by the Nigerian software industry that lacks expertise in software management. Multi-site development approach facilitates large projects by using simple network-based application that aids collaboration among team members. Future research could extend to system and real-time software projects, to give a holistic picture of software project management in developing countries

    An automation approach based on workflows and software agents for Industrial Product-Service Systems

    Industrial Product-Service Systems (IPS2) fulfil specific customer needs. This often implies the flexible reaction to changing requirements, impacting the adaption effort for the IPS2 provider. Additionally the modelling of individual business processes for the IPS2 delivery imposes a challenge to the provider. A great variety of process types, ranging from production to maintenance process, has to be covered in order to ensure a smooth and economically feasible IPS2 operation. Therefore, an approach for the modelling and automation of IPS2 delivery processes is of specific interest. In this paper an IPS2 automation approach will be presented that allows the modelling and deployment of the specific business processes and enables the integration of service shares into the automation solution of the product share. The presented approach allows for an easy adaption of the product share configuration. To achieve this goal, a workflow management system represents the backbone of all customer provider relationships that distributes the tasks and responsibilities to the IPS2 network partners according to the IPS2 business model. For machine-oriented service shares the workflow management system interacts with an implemented Java-based software agent system by means of web services. Lastly, an application example of a prototypical IPS2 in the micro production domain will be given. The control system architecture and its implementation will be described and the application use case of manufacturing in the area of micro milling machine tools as a service share will be presented.     Composition and Self-Adaptation of Service-Based Systems with Feature Models

    The adoption of mechanisms for reusing software in pervasive systems has not yet become standard practice. This is because the use of pre-existing software requires the selection, composition and adaptation of prefabricated software parts, as well as the management of some complex problems such as guaranteeing high levels of efficiency and safety in critical domains. In addition to the wide variety of services, pervasive systems are composed of many networked heterogeneous devices with embedded software. In this work, we promote the safe reuse of services in service-based systems using two complementary technologies, Service-Oriented Architecture and Software Product Lines. In order to do this, we extend both the service discovery and composition processes defined in the DAMASCo framework, which currently does not deal with the service variability that constitutes pervasive systems. We use feature models to represent the variability and to self-adapt the services during the composition in a safe way taking context changes into consideration.     Dynamic Model-based Management of Service-Oriented Infrastructure.

    Models are an effective tool for systems and software design. They allow software architects to abstract from the non-relevant details. Those qualities are also useful for the technical management of networks, systems and software, such as those that compose service oriented architectures. Models can provide a set of well-defined abstractions over the distributed heterogeneous service infrastructure that enable its automated management. We propose to use the managed system as a source of dynamically generated runtime models, and decompose management processes into a composition of model transformations. We have created an autonomic service deployment and configuration architecture that obtains, analyzes, and transforms system models to apply the required actions, while being oblivious to the low-level details. An instrumentation layer automatically builds these models and interprets the planned management actions to the system. We illustrate these concepts with a distributed service update operation
