Yapılan çalışmada robotun çevre ile olan etkileşimi kızılötesi ve ultrasonik algılayıcılar ile sağlanmaktadır. Ultrasonik algılayıcılar ucuz ve başarılı bir algılayıcı tipi olmasının yanında, yapısından kaynaklanan problemlerden dolayı çalışması zor olan algılayıcı tiplerinden biridir. Yapılan çalışmalar sırasında bu problemlerin en az seviyeye indirilmesi sağlanmıştır. Kızılötesi algılayıcılar ise yakın mesafeden yaptıkları doğru ölçümlerden dolayı çarpışma önleyici güvenlik sistemi amaçlı kullanılmıştır. Ortam haritasının çıkarılmasında ultrasonik mesafe ölçerler ve dijital pusula kullanılmıştır. Bununla birlikte robotun konumunun takip edilebilmesi için robotun üzerinde enkoderli motorlar kullanılmıştır. Robotun konumlandırılması ve harita çıkarma doğruluğu büyük ölçüde tasarımda kullanılan algılayıcı ve eyleyicilere bağlıdır. Algılayıcı ve eyleyicilerin seçiminde boyutları, doğrulukları ve mikroişlemci ile olan arayüzleri dikkate alınmıştır. Algılayıcılar tarafından ölçülen veriler mikroişlemci tarafından alınıp işlenmekte ve daha karmaşık hesaplama, bilgi depolama, konumlandırma, harita çıkarma işlemi yapacak olan bilgisayara kablosuz RF iletişimi ile aktarılmaktadır.The aim of this study is localization and mapping of the unknown indoor environments using mobile robot that have various sensors. The mobile robot provides interaction with the surroundings by using infrared and ultrasonic sensors. The ultrasonic sensors are cheap and successful but also they have some problem arise from the structure of them. These problems are reduced to the lower level during the study. Infrared sensors perform accurate measurements from the closer range therefore they are used for collision avoidance security purposes. Environment mapping is generated by using ultrasonic range finders and digital compass. In addition to this, to observe the localization of the robot, motors with encoders are used. Localization of the robot and accuracy of mapping are mostly related to used sensors and actuators of the robot design. The selection of the sensors and the actuators are considered according to their sizes, accuracies, interfaces to the microprocessor. Data measured by the sensors that is received and processed at the microprocessor.     Broadcast-oriented wireless network-on-chip : fundamentals and feasibility

Successive CMP generations integrate a larger number of cores seeking higher performance with a reasonable cost envelope. For this trend to continue, however, important scalability issues need to be solved at different levels of design. Scaling the interconnect fabric is a grand challenge by itself, as new Network-on-Chip (NoC) proposals need to overcome the performance hurdles found when dealing with the increasingly variable and heterogeneous communication demands of manycore processors. Fast and flexible NoC solutions are needed to prevent communication become a performance bottleneck, situation that would severely limit the design space at the architectural level and eventually lead to the use of software frameworks that are slow, inefficient, or less programmable. The emergence of novel interconnect technologies has opened the door to a plethora of new NoCs promising greater scalability and architectural flexibility. In particular, wireless on-chip communication has garnered considerable attention due to its inherent broadcast capabilities, low latency, and system-level simplicity. Most of the resulting Wireless Network-on-Chip (WNoC) proposals have set the focus on leveraging the latency advantage of this paradigm by creating multiple wireless channels to interconnect far-apart cores. This strategy is effective as the complement of wired NoCs at moderate scales, but is likely to be overshadowed at larger scales by technologies such as nanophotonics unless bandwidth is unrealistically improved. This dissertation presents the concept of Broadcast-Oriented Wireless Network-on-Chip (BoWNoC), a new approach that attempts to foster the inherent simplicity, flexibility, and broadcast capabilities of the wireless technology by integrating one on-chip antenna and transceiver per processor core. This paradigm is part of a broader hybrid vision where the BoWNoC serves latency-critical and broadcast traffic, tightly coupled to a wired plane oriented to large flows of data. By virtue of its scalable broadcast support, BoWNoC may become the key enabler of a wealth of unconventional hardware architectures and algorithmic approaches, eventually leading to a significant improvement of the performance, energy efficiency, scalability and programmability of manycore chips. The present work aims not only to lay the fundamentals of the BoWNoC paradigm, but also to demonstrate its viability from the electronic implementation, network design, and multiprocessor architecture perspectives. An exploration at the physical level of design validates the feasibility of the approach at millimeter-wave bands in the short term, and then suggests the use of graphene-based antennas in the terahertz band in the long term. At the link level, this thesis provides an insightful context analysis that is used, afterwards, to drive the design of a lightweight protocol that reliably serves broadcast traffic with substantial latency improvements over state-of-the-art NoCs. At the network level, our hybrid vision is evaluated putting emphasis on the flexibility provided at the network interface level, showing outstanding speedups for a wide set of traffic patterns. At the architecture level, the potential impact of the BoWNoC paradigm on the design of manycore chips is not only qualitatively discussed in general, but also quantitatively assessed in a particular architecture for fast synchronization. Results demonstrate that the impact of BoWNoC can go beyond simply improving the network performance, thereby representing a possible game changer in the manycore era.Avenços en el disseny de multiprocessadors han portat a una àmplia adopció dels Chip Multiprocessors (CMPs), que basen el seu potencial en la operació coordinada de múltiples nuclis de procés. Escalar la xarxa d'interconnexió és un gran repte en ell mateix, ja que les noves propostes de Networks-on-Chip (NoC) han de servir un tràfic eminentment variable i heterogeni dels processadors amb molts nuclis.     Fully automated urban traffic system

    The replacement of the driver with an automatic system which could perform the functions of guiding and routing a vehicle with a human's capability of responding to changing traffic demands was discussed. The problem was divided into four technological areas; guidance, routing, computing, and communications. It was determined that the latter three areas being developed independent of any need for fully automated urban traffic. A guidance system that would meet system requirements was not being developed but was technically feasible

    FULLY AUTONOMOUS SELF-POWERED INTELLIGENT WIRELESS SENSOR FOR REAL-TIME TRAFFIC SURVEILLANCE IN SMART CITIES

    Reliable, real-time traffic surveillance is an integral and crucial function of the 21st century intelligent transportation systems (ITS) network. This technology facilitates instantaneous decision-making, improves roadway efficiency, and maximizes existing transportation infrastructure capacity, making transportation systems safe, efficient, and more reliable. Given the rapidly approaching era of smart cities, the work detailed in this dissertation is timely in that it reports on the design, development, and implementation of a novel, fully-autonomous, self-powered intelligent wireless sensor for real-time traffic surveillance. Multi-disciplinary, innovative integration of state-of-the-art, ultra-low-power embedded systems, smart physical sensors, and the wireless sensor network—powered by intelligent algorithms—are the basis of the developed Intelligent Vehicle Counting and Classification Sensor (iVCCS) platform. The sensor combines an energy-harvesting subsystem to extract energy from multiple sources and enable sensor node self-powering aimed at potentially indefinite life. A wireless power receiver was also integrated to remotely charge the sensor’s primary battery. Reliable and computationally efficient intelligent algorithms for vehicle detection, speed and length estimation, vehicle classification, vehicle re-identification, travel-time estimation, time-synchronization, and drift compensation were fully developed, integrated, and evaluated. Several length-based vehicle classification schemes particular to the state of Oklahoma were developed, implemented, and evaluated using machine learning algorithms and probabilistic modeling of vehicle magnetic length. A feature extraction employing different techniques was developed to determine suitable and efficient features for magnetic signature-based vehicle re-identification. Additionally, two vehicle re-identification models based on matching vehicle magnetic signature from a single magnetometer were developed. Comprehensive system evaluation and extensive data analyses were performed to fine-tune and validate the sensor, ensuring reliable and robust operation. Several field studies were conducted under various scenarios and traffic conditions on a number of highways and urban roads and resulted in 99.98% detection accuracy, 97.4782% speed estimation accuracy, and 97.6951% classification rate when binning vehicles into four groups based on their magnetic length. Threshold-based, re-identification results revealed 65.25%~100% identification rate for a window of 25~500 vehicles. Voting-based, re-identification evaluation resulted in 90~100% identification rate for a window of 25~500 vehicles. The developed platform is portable and cost-effective. A single sensor node costs only $30 and can be installed for short-term use (e.g., work zone safety, traffic flow studies, roadway and bridge design, traffic management in atypical situations), as well as long-term use (e.g., collision avoidance at intersections, traffic monitoring) on highways, roadways, or roadside surfaces. The power consumption assessment showed that the sensor is operational for several years. The iVCCS platform is expected to significantly supplement other data collection methods used for traffic monitoring throughout the United States.
