    A Performance-Based Scenario Methodology to Assess Collaborative Networks Business Model Dynamicity

    [EN] In today's business marketplace many enterprises collaborate forming a collaborative network (CN) in order to achieve competitive and sustainable advantages. In this context, CNs should have not only well-defined business models but also mechanisms and tools that help them out to assess such business models as well as other CN operations at their early stages. Due to shorter life-cycles and to the current fierce competition such an evaluation should be made as quickly as possible and analyzing real data rather than based on opinions and subjective judgments. This paper presents the application of a methodology that allows such an assessment as well as the generation of business scenarios based on the performance of the CN. Then, it first defines the appropriate CN key performance indicators (KPIs), gathering data for a certain time-period; then, it applies multivariate techniques to this data, identifying relationships between the KPIs, and being able to build the timely evolution of the CN based on this data; next, it is able to design a business scenario based on the timely evolution that the CN should have according to its business models and operations results achieved so far.     Pragmatic interoperability in the enterprise : a research agenda

    Eective collaboration among today's enterprises is indispensable. Such collaborative synergy is important to foster the creation of innovative value-added products and services that would have otherwise been dicult to achieve if enterprises work in isolation. However, it is a widely held belief that interoperability problems have been one of the perennial hurdles in achieving such collaboration. This research aims to improve the current state of the art in enterprise interoperability research by zeroing in on the notion of pragmatic interoperability(PI). When enterprise systems collaborate by exchanging information, PI goes beyond the compatibility between the structure and the meaning of shared information, it further ensures that the intended eect of the message exchange is realized.     A Systematic Literature Review to Understand Cross-organizational Relationship Management and Collaboration

    An increasingly dynamic, unpredictable and challenging environment leads organizations to cross their own borders and establish partnerships to other organizations for remaining competitive. This cross-organizational relationship allows participating organizations to share resources with each other and collaborate to better handle an identified opportunity for joint work. However, besides having a mutual or compatible goal, it is common that these organizations face several challenges during the partnership. The present research aims to explore the cross-organizational relationship management. To this end, this paper outlines the systematic literature review performed to understand the collaboration and relationship establishment between different organizations and organize an ICT related body of knowledge about the topic. A discussion about the findings, challenges and open issues identified from the retrieved literature is also provided to guide further work

    From Network to Web dimension in supply chain management

    Cette thĂšse soutient que la dimension rĂ©seau, Ă©tant actuellement la portĂ©e du domaine de la gestion de chaĂźne logistique, contraint l’avancement de ce domaine et restreint des innovations conceptuelles et fondamentales capables d’adresser les grands dĂ©fis Ă©conomiques, environnementaux et sociaux. Les concepts de chaĂźne et de rĂ©seau ne reflĂštent pas la complexitĂ© des flux physiques, informationnels et financiers gĂ©nĂ©rĂ©s par les interactions qui ont lieu dans des rĂ©seaux interconnectĂ©s. Ces concepts n’offrent pas les fondations thĂ©oriques pour supporter des interventions allant au-delĂ  d’un seul rĂ©seau et laissent Ă©chapper des opportunitĂ©s nĂ©cessitant une vision multi-rĂ©seau. Ainsi, la dimension “web”, celle des rĂ©seaux de rĂ©seaux, est proposĂ©e comme une extension de la dimension rĂ©seau. Cette extension peut ĂȘtre vue comme l’étape naturelle suivante dans la progression qui a commencĂ© par le niveau de gestion des opĂ©rations internes, est passĂ©e au niveau de la chaĂźne logistique et se trouve actuellement au niveau du rĂ©seau logistique. AprĂšs l’investigation thĂ©orique des raisons et de la façon d’intĂ©grer la dimension web dans le domaine de la gestion de la chaĂźne logistique, la thĂšse Ă©tudie des implications importantes de cette intĂ©gration sur la collaboration inter-organisationnelle et le processus de prise de dĂ©cision dans des environnements de webs logistiques. Elle dĂ©montre, en exploitant l’exemple des rĂ©seaux interconnectĂ©s ouverts, des potentialitĂ©s inimaginables sans une vision web. Une mĂ©thodologie de conception d’un modĂšle de simulation permettant l’évaluation et la comparaison des webs ouverts par rapport aux webs existants est proposĂ©e. Puisque l’aide Ă  la dĂ©cision est une composante importante de la gestion de la chaĂźne logistique, la thĂšse contribue Ă  dĂ©terminer les besoins des gestionnaires et Ă  identifier les lignes directrices de la conception des outils d’aide Ă  la dĂ©cision offrant le support adĂ©quat pour faire face aux dĂ©fis et Ă  la complexitĂ© des webs logistiques. Ces lignes directrices ont Ă©tĂ© compilĂ©es dans un cadre de conception des logiciels d’aide Ă  la dĂ©cision supportant la dimension web. Ce cadre est exploitĂ© pour dĂ©velopper quatre applications logicielles offrant aux praticiens et aux chercheurs des outils nĂ©cessaires pour Ă©tudier, analyser et dĂ©mĂȘler la complexitĂ© des webs logistiques.This thesis argues that the network dimension as the current scope of supply chain management is confining the evolution of this field and restricting the conceptual and fundamental innovations required for addressing the major challenges imposed by the evolution of markets and the increased intricacies of business relationships. The concepts of chain and network are limitative when attempting to represent the complexity of physical, informational and financial flows resulting from the interactions occurring in overlapping networks. They lack the theoretical foundations necessary to explain and encompass initiatives that go beyond a single chain or network. They also lead to overlook substantial opportunities that require beyond a network vision. Therefore, the “web” dimension, as networks of networks, is proposed as an extension to the network dimension in supply chain management. This new scope is the natural next step in the progression from the internal operations management level to the supply chain level and then to the supply network level. After a theoretical investigation of why and how the web dimension should be integrated into the supply chain management field, the thesis studies and discusses important implications of this integration on inter-organisational collaboration and of the decision-making processes in the logistic web environments. It demonstrates through the example of open interconnected logistic webs some of the potentials that cannot be imagined without a web vision. A methodology for designing a simulation model to assess the impact of such open webs versus existing webs is proposed. Since decision support is a key element in supply chain management, the thesis contributes to determine the needs of supply chain managers and identify the important axes for designing decision support systems that provide adequate assistance in dealing with the challenges and complexity presented by logistic web environments. The identified elements result in the establishment of a foundation for designing software solutions required to handle the challenges revealed by the web dimension. This conceptual framework is applied to the prototyping of four applications that have the potential of providing practitioners and researchers with the appropriate understanding and necessary tools to deal with the complexity of logistics webs

    Comparative Analysis of Different Trust Metrics of User-User Trust-Based Recommendation System

    Information overload is the biggest challenge nowadays for any website, especially e-commerce websites. However, this challenge arises for the fast growth of information on the web (WWW) with easy access to the internet. Collaborative filtering based recommender system is the most useful application to solve the information overload problem by filtering relevant information for the users according to their interests. But, the existing system faces some significant limitations such as data sparsity, low accuracy, cold-start, and malicious attacks. To alleviate the mentioned issues, the relationship of trust incorporates in the system where it can be between the users or items, and such system is known as the trust-based recommender system (TBRS). From the user perspective, the motive of the TBRS is to utilize the reliability between the users to generate more accurate and trusted recommendations. However, the study aims to present a comparative analysis of different trust metrics in the context of the type of trust definition of TBRS.     The core objective of WP6 is to evaluate the CONNECT technologies under realistic situations. To achieve this goal, WP6 concentrated a significant amount of its 4th year effort on the finalization of the implementation of the GMES scenario defined during the 3rd year. The GMES scenario allows the consortium to assess the validity of CONNECT claims and to investigate the exploitation of CONNECT technologies to deal with the integration of real systems. In particular, GMES requires the connection of highly heterogeneous and independently built systems provided by the industry partners. WP6 contributed also in providing mobile collaborative applications and case studies showing the exploitation of CONNECTORs on mobile devices

    Making Strategic Supply Chain Capacity Planning more Dynamic to cope with Hyperconnected and Uncertain Environments

    Public and private organizations cope with a lot of uncertainties when planning the future of their supply chains. Additionally, the network of stakeholders is now intensely interconnected and dynamic, revealing new collaboration opportunities at a tremendous pace. In such a context, organizations must rethink most of their supply chain planning decision support systems. This is the case regarding strategic supply chain capacity planning systems that should ensure that supply chains will have enough resources to profitably produce and deliver products on time, whatever hazards and disruptions. Unfortunately, most of the existing systems are unable to consider satisfactorily this new deal. To solve this issue, this paper develops a decision support system designed for making strategic supply chain capacity planning more dynamic to cope with hyperconnected and uncertain environments.     AN ATTEMPT TO DEFINE CONTEXT AWARENESS IN MOBILE E-HEALTH ENVIRONMENTS

    Nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, psychologists and other professionals or specialists come together to provide care to home residing patients, making continuous assessment, diagnosis and treatment possible beyond the walls of hospitals. Such teams of professionals are focused on each individual patient, and are virtual, i.e. they make decisions without being together physically, dynamically, i.e. professionals come and go as needed, and collaborate, as they combine their knowledge to provide effective care. Our system, coined DITIS, is a web based system that enables the effective management and collaboration of virtual healthcare teams and accessing medical information in a secure manner from a variety of mobile devices from anytime and anyplace, adapting the information according to various parameters like, user role, access right, device capabilities and wireless medium.     Model-Based Engineering of Collaborative Embedded Systems

    This Open Access book presents the results of the "Collaborative Embedded Systems" (CrESt) project, aimed at adapting and complementing the methodology underlying modeling techniques developed to cope with the challenges of the dynamic structures of collaborative embedded systems (CESs) based on the SPES development methodology. In order to manage the high complexity of the individual systems and the dynamically formed interaction structures at runtime, advanced and powerful development methods are required that extend the current state of the art in the development of embedded systems and cyber-physical systems. The methodological contributions of the project support the effective and efficient development of CESs in dynamic and uncertain contexts, with special emphasis on the reliability and variability of individual systems and the creation of networks of such systems at runtime. The project was funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), and the case studies are therefore selected from areas that are highly relevant for Germany’s economy (automotive, industrial production, power generation, and robotics). It also supports the digitalization of complex and transformable industrial plants in the context of the German government's "Industry 4.0" initiative, and the project results provide a solid foundation for implementing the German government's high-tech strategy "Innovations for Germany" in the coming years
