H-infinity state estimation for discrete-time complex networks with randomly occurring sensor saturations and randomly varying sensor delays
This is the post-print of the Article. The official published version can be accessed from the link below - Copyright @ 2012 IEEEIn this paper, the state estimation problem is investigated for a class of discrete time-delay nonlinear complex networks with randomly occurring phenomena from sensor measurements. The randomly occurring phenomena include randomly occurring sensor saturations (ROSSs) and randomly varying sensor delays (RVSDs) that result typically from networked environments. A novel sensor model is proposed to describe the ROSSs and the RVSDs within a unified framework via two sets of Bernoulli-distributed white sequences with known conditional probabilities. Rather than employing the commonly used Lipschitz-type function, a more general sector-like nonlinear function is used to describe the nonlinearities existing in the network. The purpose of the addressed problem is to design a state estimator to estimate the network states through available output measurements such that, for all probabilistic sensor saturations and sensor delays, the dynamics of the estimation error is guaranteed to be exponentially mean-square stable and the effect from the exogenous disturbances to the estimation accuracy is attenuated at a given level by means of an -norm. In terms of a novel LyapunovâKrasovskii functional and the Kronecker product, sufficient conditions are established under which the addressed state estimation problem is recast as solving a convex optimization problem via the semidefinite programming method. A simulation example is provided to show the usefulness of the proposed state estimation conditions. This work was supported in part by the Engineering and Physical Sciences

Stochastic stability of uncertain Hopfield neural networks with discrete and distributed delays
This is the post print version of the article. The official published version can be obtained from the link below - Copyright 2006 Elsevier Ltd.This Letter is concerned with the global asymptotic stability analysis problem for a class of uncertain stochastic Hopfield neural networks with discrete and distributed time-delays. By utilizing a LyapunovâKrasovskii functional, using the well-known S-procedure and conducting stochastic analysis, we show that the addressed neural networks are robustly, globally, asymptotically stable if a convex optimization problem is feasible. Then, the stability criteria are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which can be effectively solved by some standard numerical packages. The main results are also extended to the multiple time-delay case. Two numerical examples are given to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed global stability condition. This work was supported in part by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) of the UK under Grant GR/S27658/01, the Nuffield Foundation of the UK under Grant NAL/00630/G, and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Germany
Mean almost periodicity and moment exponential stability of discrete-time stochastic shunting inhibitory cellular neural networks with time delays
summary:By using the semi-discrete method of differential equations, a new version of discrete analogue of stochastic shunting inhibitory cellular neural networks (SICNNs) is formulated, which gives a more accurate characterization for continuous-time stochastic SICNNs than that by Euler scheme. Firstly, the existence of the 2th mean almost periodic sequence solution of the discrete-time stochastic SICNNs is investigated with the help of Minkowski inequality, Hölder inequality and Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem. Secondly, the moment global exponential stability of the discrete-time stochastic SICNNs is also studied by using some analytical skills and the proof of contradiction. Finally, two examples are given to demonstrate that our results are feasible. By numerical simulations, we discuss the effect of stochastic perturbation on the almost periodicity and global exponential stability of the discrete-time stochastic SICNNs
Exponential synchronization for reaction-diffusion neural networks with mixed time-varying delays via periodically intermittent control
This paper deals with the exponential synchronization problem for reaction-diffusion neural networks with mixed time-varying delays and stochastic disturbance. By using stochastic analysis approaches and constructing a novel LyapunovâKrasovskii functional, a periodically intermittent controller is first proposed to guarantee the exponential synchronization of reaction-diffusion neural networks with mixed time-varying delays and stochastic disturbance in terms of p-norm. The obtained synchronization results are easy to check and improve upon the existing ones. Particularly, the traditional assumptions on control width and time-varying delays are removed in this paper. This paper also presents two illustrative examples and uses simulated results of these examples to show the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed scheme
