REMOVAL OF GAUSSIAN AND IMPULSE NOISE IN THE COLOUR IMAGE PROGRESSION WITH FUZZY FILTERS

This paper is concerned with algebraic features based filtering technique, named as the adaptive statistical quality based filtering technique (ASQFT), is presented for removal of Impulse and Gaussian noise in corrupted colour images. A combination of these two filters also helps in eliminating a mixture of these two noises. One strong filtering step that should remove all noise at once would inevitably also remove a considerable amount of detail. Therefore, the noise is filtered step by step. In each step, noisy pixels are detected by the help of fuzzy rules, which are very useful for the processing of human knowledge where linguistic variables are used. The proposed filter is able to efficiently suppress both Gaussian noise and impulse noise, as well as mixed Gaussian impulse noise. The experiments shows that proposed method outperforms novel modern filters both visually and in terms of objective quality measures such as the mean absolute error (MAE), the peaksignal- to-noise ratio (PSNR) and the normalized color difference (NCD). The expectations filter achieves a promising performance

CORRELATION COEFFICIENT BASED DETECTION ALGORITHM FOR REMOVAL OF RANDOM VALUED IMPULSE NOISE IN IMAGES

This paper aims to present an alternative and novel method for removal of Random Valued Impulse Noise in corrupted images which is a challenging task as compared to the removal of fixed valued impulse noise. The proposed algorithm i.e. “Correlation Coefficient Based Detection Algorithm” (CCBD) is a two stage filter. The Detection stage of CCBD utilises the Correlation Coefficients of the absolute differences of the pixels in detection window with their Mean, the Central Pixel and a predefined value respectively. The Filtering stage of CCBD utilises the Fuzzy Switching Weighted Median filter (FSWM) for restoration of the corrupted image. The performance of CCBD has been compared to some of the existing methods e.g. Rank Order Absolute Difference (ROAD), Rank Order Logarithmic Difference (ROLD), Triangle Based Linear Interpolation (TBLI) and Adaptive Switching Median (ASM) algorithms. The Comparative analysis in terms of MSE, PSNR and SSIM show that the CCBD is superior to the existing methods in all parameters

Video enhancement using adaptive spatio-temporal connective filter and piecewise mapping

This paper presents a novel video enhancement system based on an adaptive spatio-temporal connective (ASTC) noise filter and an adaptive piecewise mapping function (APMF). For ill-exposed videos or those with much noise, we first introduce a novel local image statistic to identify impulse noise pixels, and then incorporate it into the classical bilateral filter to form ASTC, aiming to reduce the mixture of the most two common types of noises - Gaussian and impulse noises in spatial and temporal directions. After noise removal, we enhance the video contrast with APMF based on the statistical information of frame segmentation results. The experiment results demonstrate that, for diverse low-quality videos corrupted by mixed noise, underexposure, overexposure, or any mixture of the above, the proposed system can automatically produce satisfactory results

Impulsive noise removal from color images with morphological filtering

This paper deals with impulse noise removal from color images. The proposed noise removal algorithm employs a novel approach with morphological filtering for color image denoising; that is, detection of corrupted pixels and removal of the detected noise by means of morphological filtering. With the help of computer simulation we show that the proposed algorithm can effectively remove impulse noise. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared in terms of image restoration metrics and processing speed with that of common successful algorithms.Comment: The 6th international conference on analysis of images, social networks, and texts (AIST 2017), 27-29 July, 2017, Moscow, Russi

An Efficient Image Denoising Approach for the Recovery of Impulse Noise

Image noise is one of the key issues in image processing applications today. The noise will affect the quality of the image and thus degrades the actual information of the image. Visual quality is the prerequisite for many imagery applications such as remote sensing. In recent years, the significance of noise assessment and the recovery of noisy images are increasing. The impulse noise is characterized by replacing a portion of an image's pixel values with random values Such noise can be introduced due to transmission errors. Accordingly, this paper focuses on the effect of visual quality of the image due to impulse noise during the transmission of images. In this paper, a hybrid statistical noise suppression technique has been developed for improving the quality of the impulse noisy color images. We further proved the performance of the proposed image enhancement scheme using the advanced performance metrics
