A Client-Server System for Ubiquitous Video Service
In this work we introduce a simple client-server system architecture and algorithms for ubiquitous live video and VOD service support. The main features of the system are: efficient usage of network resources, emphasis on user personalization, and ease of implementation. The system supports many continuous service requirements such as QoS provision, user mobility between networks and between different communication devices, and simultaneous usage of a device by a number of users
ARNAB: Transparent Service Continuity across Orchestrated Edge Networks
Paper presented at: IEEE GLOBECOM 2018 Workshops: Intelligent Network orchestration and interaction in 5G and beyond. Abu Dabhi. 9-13 December 2018In this paper, we present an architecture for transparent
service continuity for cloud-enabled WiFi networks called

douBle-tier migration. The term arnab means rabbit in Arabic. It
is dubbed for the proposed service architecture because a mobileuser
service with ARNAB behaves like a rabbit hopping through
the WiFi infrastructure. To deliver continuous services, deploying
edge clouds is not sufficient. Users may travel far from the initial
serving edge and also perform multiple WiFi handoffs during
mobility. To solve this, ARNAB employs a double-tier migration
scheme. One migration tier is for user connectivity, and the other
one is for edge applications. Our experimental results show that
ARNAB can not only enable continuous service delivery but
also outperform the existing work in the area of container live
migration across edge clouds. This work has been partially supported by the H2020 collaborative

The effect of networkâs size on the performance of the gGateway discovery and selection scheme for MANEMO
Abstract In the era of Internet technology, new applications are developed everyday requiring continuous and seamless connections. This urges for access availability solutions to the new scenarios. One of the critical architecture is the Mobile Ad-Hoc Network Mobility (MANEMO). However, the integration of Ad-hoc and NEMO technologies came out with many complications like redundant tunnels and the existence of multiple Exit Routers. This paper presents a scheme to discover and select the optimum gateway to improve the robustness and the performance of the network irrespective of the used routing protocol. The MANEMO Gateway discovery and selection scheme (MGDSS) extends the Tree Discovery Protocol and the Neighborhood Discovery protocol used by NEMO and Ad-Hoc to carry the necessary gateway selection parameters. To compare the effect of networkâs size on the performance of the proposed scheme, the standard NEMO BSP and the Multi-homed MANEMO (M-MANEMO) approaches OPNET Modeler 14.5 was used. The results show that the average data packets dropped, the end-to-end delay and the throughput of the proposed MGDSS outperform those for the standard M-MANEMO and standard NEMO BSP. Architectures for Wireless Sensor Networks
Various architectures have been developed for wireless sensor networks. Many of them leave to the programmer important concepts as the way in which the inter-task communication and dynamic reconfigurations are addressed. In this paper we describe the characteristics of a new architecture we proposed - the data-centric architecture. This architecture offers an easy way of structuring the applications designed for wireless sensor nodes that confers them superior performances
Roaming Real-Time Applications - Mobility Services in IPv6 Networks
Emerging mobility standards within the next generation Internet Protocol,
IPv6, promise to continuously operate devices roaming between IP networks.
Associated with the paradigm of ubiquitous computing and communication, network
technology is on the spot to deliver voice and videoconferencing as a standard
internet solution. However, current roaming procedures are too slow, to remain
seamless for real-time applications. Multicast mobility still waits for a
convincing design. This paper investigates the temporal behaviour of mobile
IPv6 with dedicated focus on topological impacts. Extending the hierarchical
mobile IPv6 approach we suggest protocol improvements for a continuous
handover, which may serve bidirectional multicast communication, as well. Along
this line a multicast mobility concept is introduced as a service for clients
and sources, as they are of dedicated importance in multipoint conferencing
applications. The mechanisms introduced do not rely on assumptions of any
specific multicast routing protocol in use.Comment: 15 pages, 5 figure
Mobile Health Care over 3G Networks: the MobiHealth Pilot System and Service
Health care is one of the most prominent areas for the application of wireless technologies. New services and applications are today under research and development targeting different areas of health care, from high risk and chronic patientsâ remote monitoring to mobility tools for the medical personnel. In this direction the MobiHealth project developed and trailed a system and a service that is using UMTS for the continuous monitoring and transmission of vital signals, like Pulse Oximeter sensor , temperature, Marker, Respiratory band, motion/activity detector etc., to the hospital. The system, based on the concept of the Body Area Network, is highly customisable, allowing sensors to be seamlessly connected and transmit the monitored vital signal measurements. The system and service was trialed in 4 European countries and it is presently under market validation
