National audienceThe development of security policies for information systems is usually based on a systematic risks analysis, reducing them by adopting appropriate countermeasures. These risks analysis approaches are complex and designed for well-known and static environments. To overcome this limit, we propose to extend the Model Driven Security (MDS) approach to a MDS@Runtime vision to set a Security as a Service component. Plugged on the FraSCAti middleware, our security component selects, composes and orchestrates the security services depending on the execution context to avoid both under and over protection

Do dividends pattern follow earnings pattern? Evidence from Nigerian financial sector

The argument that the relationship between earnings and dividend have weakened stimulates the interest to revisit the relationship. The study adopts two approaches in testing this relationship.Using descriptive analysis, the study follow the approach of recent empirical studies in developed market to test whether dividend concentration exists among financial firms in the Nigerian market and whether this is driven by earnings concentration among the firms. Secondly, the study tests the relationship between earnings and dividend in a regression model to confirm whether this relationship has weakened or not. Findings based on a sample of 49 financial firms on the Nigerian Stock Exchange indicates presence of dividend concentration and show that this is as a result of earnings concentration.Findings from fixed effects regression estimates also indicate that earnings have strong predictive power in explaining dividend payout even when other determinants are accounted for. Based on the combined evidence from descriptive analysis and regression results, the study concludes that dividends are sensitive to earnings and the relationship between the two remain strong in explaining payout policies in the Nigerian financial service sector

A coordination protocol for user-customisable cloud policy monitoring

Cloud computing will see a increasing demand for end-user customisation and personalisation of multi-tenant cloud service offerings. Combined with an identified need to address QoS and governance aspects in cloud computing, a need to provide user-customised QoS and governance policy management and monitoring as part of an SLA management infrastructure for clouds arises. We propose a user-customisable policy definition solution that can be enforced in multi-tenant cloud offerings through an automated instrumentation and monitoring technique. We in particular allow service processes that are run by cloud and SaaS providers to be made policy-aware in a transparent way

Active management of multi-service networks.

Future multiservice networks will be extremely large and complex. Novel management solutions will be required to keep the management costs reasonable. Active networking enables management to be delegated to network users as a large set of independent small scale management systems.
