Boukaf Samira & Mokhtar Hafayed, & Ghebouli Messaoud: A study on optimal control problem with ex-error bound for stochastic systems with application to linear quadratic problem, International Journal of Dynamics and Control, Springer DOI: 10.1007/s40435-015-0178-x (2015).

Partially obseved optimal control problem for SDEs of Mckean-Vlasov type and Applications
Partially observed control problems have received much attention and became a powerful tool in many fields, such as mathematical finance, optimal control, etc. From the viewpoint of reality, many situations, full information is not always available to controllers, but the partial one with noise. Furthermore, the recent work of Buckdahn, R. [7] and Hafayed, M. [24] on Mckean-Vlasov type stochastic differential equations and their optimal control opens a new avenue for the study of optimal control problems in
general. The objective of this thesis is to extend these results of [7] and [24] to the case of a partially observed optimal control problem. More precisely, we study partially observed optimal control problems of general McKean-Vlasov differential equations, in which the coefficients depend on the state of the solution process as well as of its law and the control variable. By applying Girsanov’s theorem with a standard convex variational technique, we develop the stochastic maximum principle for our partially observed control problem where the control domain is convex. Also, in this thesis, we prove a new stochastic maximum principle for a class of partially observed optimal control problems of Mckean-Vlasov type with jumps. The stochastic system under consideration is governed by a stochastic differential equation driven by Poisson random measure and an independent Brownian
motion. The derivatives with respect to probability measure and the associate Itô-formula are applied to prove our main results. And as an illustration, by applying our maximum principle, McKean-Vlasov type linear quadratic control problem with jump is discussed, where the partially observed optimal control is obtained explicitly in feedback form.Key words. Multiscale derivation, analysis and simulation of collective dynamics models: geometrical aspects and applications
This thesis is a contribution to the study of swarming phenomena from the point of view of mathematical kinetic theory. This multiscale approach starts from stochastic individual based (or particle) models and aims at the derivation of partial differential equation models on statistical quantities when the number of particles tends to infinity. This latter class of models is better suited for mathematical analysis in order to reveal and explain large-scale emerging phenomena observed in various biological systems such as flocks of birds or swarms of bacteria. Within this objective, a large part of this thesis is dedicated to the study of a body-attitude coordination model and, through this example, of the influence of geometry on self-organisation.
The first part of the thesis deals with the rigorous derivation of partial differential equation models from particle systems with mean-field interactions. After a review of the literature, in particular on the notion of propagation of chaos, a rigorous convergence result is proved for a large class of geometrically enriched piecewise deterministic particle models towards local BGK-type equations. In addition, the method developed is applied to the design and analysis of a new particle-based algorithm for sampling. This first part also addresses the question of the efficient simulation of particle systems using recent GPU routines.
The second part of the thesis is devoted to kinetic and fluid models for body-oriented particles. The kinetic model is rigorously derived as the mean-field limit of a particle system. In the spatially homogeneous case, a phase transition phenomenon is investigated which discriminates, depending on the parameters of the model, between a “disordered” dynamics and a self-organised “ordered” dynamics. The fluid (or macroscopic) model was derived as the hydrodynamic limit of the kinetic model a few years ago by Degond et al. The analytical and numerical study of this model reveal the existence of new self-organised phenomena which are confirmed and quantified using particle simulations. Finally a generalisation of this model in arbitrary dimension is presented.Open Acces
Topics in multiscale modeling: numerical analysis and applications
We explore several topics in multiscale modeling, with an emphasis on numerical analysis and applications. Throughout Chapters 2 to 4, our investigation is guided by asymptotic calculations and numerical experiments based on spectral methods.
In Chapter 2, we present a new method for the solution of multiscale stochastic differential equations at the diffusive time scale. In contrast to averaging-based methods, the numerical methodology that we present is based on a spectral method. We use an expansion in Hermite functions to approximate the solution of an appropriate Poisson equation, which is used in order to calculate the coefficients in the homogenized equation.
Extensions of this method are presented in Chapter 3 and 4, where they are employed for the investigation of the Desai—Zwanzig mean-field model with colored noise and the generalized Langevin dynamics in a periodic potential, respectively. In Chapter 3, we study in particular the effect of colored noise on bifurcations and phase transitions induced by variations of the temperature. In Chapter 4, we investigate the dependence of the effective diffusion coefficient associated with the generalized Langevin equation on the parameters of the equation.
In Chapter 5, which is independent from the rest of this thesis, we introduce a novel numerical method for phase-field models with wetting. More specifically, we consider the Cahn—Hilliard equation with a nonlinear wetting boundary condition, and we propose a class of linear, semi-implicit time-stepping schemes for its solution.Open Acces
