The author discusses the experience of the center for Information and Bibliographical Support of Learning and Science of the Scientific Library of Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management in the methodology of selective information dissemination. The author examines the relevance of the method as applied in modern academic libraries and its efficiency for information and bibliographicΒ  support, as well as for information and communication support of university science. She also emphasizes the significance of stable communications within a university, and proves the necessity for improving the relevance of information provided through selective information dissemination system using not only feedback sheets but also through face-to-face communication. The concept of selective information dissemination is analyzed. The origins of the method are discussed. The author examines the target users to be acquired by the system and suggests that new relevant information and bibliographic products are needed. She concludes that today the system of selective information dissemination is an effective and demanded one. It is important for increasing the university’s reputation capital and user service performance of the scientific library.Β ΠŸΡ€ΠΎΠ°Π½Π°Π»ΠΈΠ·ΠΈΡ€ΠΎΠ²Π°Π½ ΠΎΠΏΡ‹Ρ‚ Ρ€Π°Π±ΠΎΡ‚Ρ‹ Π¦Π΅Π½Ρ‚Ρ€Π° ΠΈΠ½Ρ„ΠΎΡ€ΠΌΠ°Ρ†ΠΈΠΎΠ½Π½ΠΎ-библиографичСского обСспСчСния ΡƒΡ‡Π΅Π±Π½ΠΎ-Π½Π°ΡƒΡ‡Π½ΠΎΠΉ Ρ€Π°Π±ΠΎΡ‚Ρ‹ Научной Π±ΠΈΠ±Π»ΠΈΠΎΡ‚Π΅ΠΊΠΈ Новосибирского государствСнного унивСрситСта экономики ΠΈ управлСния ΠΏΠΎ ΠΌΠ΅Ρ‚ΠΎΠ΄ΠΈΠΊΠ΅ ΠΈΠ·Π±ΠΈΡ€Π°Ρ‚Π΅Π»ΡŒΠ½ΠΎΠ³ΠΎ распространСния ΠΈΠ½Ρ„ΠΎΡ€ΠΌΠ°Ρ†ΠΈΠΈ. Content enrichment through dynamic annotation

    Get PDF
This paper describes a technique for interceding between users and the information that they browse. This facility, that we term 'dynamic annotation', affords a means of editing Web page content 'on-the-fly' between the source Web server and the requesting client. Thereby, we have a generic way of modifying the content displayed to local users by addition, removal or reorganising any information sourced from the World-Wide Web, whether this derives from local or remote pages. For some time, we have been exploring the scope for this device and we believe that it affords many potential worthwhile applications. Here, we describe two varieties of use. The first variety focuses on support for individual users in two contexts (second-language support and second language learning). The second variety of use focuses on support for groups of users. These differing applications have a common goal which is content enrichment of the materials placed before the user. Dynamic annotation provides a potent and flexible means to this end

eBank UK: linking research data, scholarly communication and learning

    No full text
This paper includes an overview of the changing landscape of scholarly communication and describes outcomes from the innovative eBank UK project, which seeks to build links from e-research through to e-learning. As introduction, the scholarly knowledge cycle is described and the role of digital repositories and aggregator services in linking data-sets from Grid-enabled projects to e-prints through to peer-reviewed articles as resources in portals and Learning Management Systems, are assessed. The development outcomes from the eBank UK project are presented including the distributed information architecture, requirements for common ontologies, data models, metadata schema, open linking technologies, provenance and workflows. Some emerging challenges for the future are presented in conclusion
