    Applications of Multi-Valued Quantum Algorithms

This paper generalizes both the binary Deutsch-Jozsa and Grover algorithms to nn-valued logic using the quantum Fourier transform. Our extended Deutsch-Jozsa algorithm is not only able to distinguish between constant and balanced Boolean functions in a single query, but can also find closed expressions for classes of affine logical functions in quantum oracles, accurate to a constant term. Furthermore, our multi-valued extension of the Grover algorithm for quantum database search requires fewer qudits and hence a substantially smaller memory register, as well as fewer wasted information states, to implement. We note several applications of these algorithms and their advantages over the binary cases.Comment: 12 pages, 4 figures; updated version of paper for ISMVL 2007; contains new proof of multi-valued Grover algorithm time complexity, with typos correcte

Role of interference and entanglement in quantum neural processing

The role of interference and entanglement in quantum neural processing is discussed. It is argued that on contrast to the quantum computing the problem of the use of exponential resources as the payment for the absense of entanglement does not exist for quantum neural processing. This is because of corresponding systems, as any modern classical artificial neural systems, do not realize functions precisely, but approximate them by training on small sets of examples. It can permit to implement quantum neural systems optically, because in this case there is no need in exponential resources of optical devices (beam-splitters etc.). On the other hand, the role of entanglement in quantum neural processing is still very important, because it actually associates qubit states: this is necessary feature of quantum neural memory models.Comment: 15 pages, PD

Quantum computation, quantum theory and AI

    Get PDF
The main purpose of this paper is to examine some (potential) applications of quantum computation in AI and to review the interplay between quantum theory and AI. For the readers who are not familiar with quantum computation, a brief introduction to it is provided, and a famous but simple quantum algorithm is introduced so that they can appreciate the power of quantum computation. Also, a (quite personal) survey of quantum computation is presented in order to give the readers a (unbalanced) panorama of the field. The author hopes that this paper will be a useful map for AI researchers who are going to explore further and deeper connections between AI and quantum computation as well as quantum theory although some parts of the map are very rough and other parts are empty, and waiting for the readers to fill in. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. Design of Low Power MAX Operator for Multi-valued Logic System

    Get PDF
AbstractA voltage-mode three transistor based MAX circuit for implementation of multi-valued logic (MVL) system is proposed in this paper. The proposed MAX operates at very low power consumption ranging in micro watts. To evaluate MAX performance, a NOR gate realization is done and compared to standard CMOS NOR gate. The HSpice simulation result confirms the MAX based NOR gate to operate with minimal delay at low power level. The simulations have been performed on 180nm technology
