empathi: An ontology for Emergency Managing and Planning about Hazard Crisis
In the domain of emergency management during hazard crises, having sufficient
situational awareness information is critical. It requires capturing and
integrating information from sources such as satellite images, local sensors
and social media content generated by local people. A bold obstacle to
capturing, representing and integrating such heterogeneous and diverse
information is lack of a proper ontology which properly conceptualizes this
domain, aggregates and unifies datasets. Thus, in this paper, we introduce
empathi ontology which conceptualizes the core concepts concerning with the
domain of emergency managing and planning of hazard crises. Although empathi
has a coarse-grained view, it considers the necessary concepts and relations
being essential in this domain. This ontology is available at

Environmental Risk Analysis: Problems and Perspectives in Different Countries
The authors discuss various industrial accidents, which have led to growing concerns about the potential hazards and risks involved in chemical process industries

Food security, risk management and climate change
This report identifies major constraints to the adaptive capacity of food organisations operating in Australia. This report is about food security, climate change and risk management. Australia has enjoyed an unprecedented level of food security for more than half a century, but there are new uncertainties emerging and it would be unrealistic â if not complacent â to assume the same level of food security will persist simply because of recent history. The project collected data from more than 36 case study organisations (both foreign and local) operating in the Australian food-supply chain, and found that for many businesses, risk management practices require substantial improvement to cope with and exploit the uncertainties that lie ahead. Three risks were identified as major constraints to adaptive capacity of food organisations operating in Australia: risk management practices; an uncertain regulatory environment â itself a result of gaps in risk management; climate change uncertainty and projections about climate change impacts, also related to risk management
Global Health Security in an Era of Explosive Pandemic Potential
Pandemics pose a significant risk to security, economic stability, and development. Annualized expected losses from pandemics are estimated at 4.5 billion â 65 cents per person) to strengthen global preparedness, for the United Nations to play a greater role in responding to major global health and humanitarian emergencies, and for an effective and efficient R&D strategy with multiple stakeholdersâgovernments, academics, industry, and civil societyâidentifying R&D priorities and leading a coordinated response. If our action plan were adopted, it would safeguard the global population far better against infectious disease threats. It would reap dividends in security, development, and productivity
Kriza i krizni menadĹžment - prilog konceptualnom i terminoloĹĄkom razgraniÄenju
Crisis and crisis management are relatively new concepts in Serbia, both in theory and in practice. Their implementation is accompanied by terminological confusion regarding basic phenomena - emergency situations, crises, conflicts and catastrophes, as well as various kinds of management attempts at managing uncertainties and hazards. This work is an attempted contribution to a conceptual and terminological delimitation in this field.
