    Within Plato's Socratic Dialogues we routinely observe the character of Socrates employing a formal, yet largely unexplained method of investigation into the beliefs that his interlocutors hold as true. Socrates even goes so far as to claim there will be discord within them their whole life should they not be able refute one of his controversial and counter-intuitive revealed truths. With the beliefs under investigation striking to the core of how one should live a good life, this paper seeks to investigate whether Socrates' formal method justifies him in making the claims he does. After exposing the methodology of his technique, we turn to investigate the theory of truth that the method represents, seeking to ascertain a greater understanding of what truth means to Socrates when he makes the claim that a belief is true

    Clones in Graphs

    Finding structural similarities in graph data, like social networks, is a far-ranging task in data mining and knowledge discovery. A (conceptually) simple reduction would be to compute the automorphism group of a graph. However, this approach is ineffective in data mining since real world data does not exhibit enough structural regularity. Here we step in with a novel approach based on mappings that preserve the maximal cliques. For this we exploit the well known correspondence between bipartite graphs and the data structure formal context (G,M,I)(G,M,I) from Formal Concept Analysis. From there we utilize the notion of clone items. The investigation of these is still an open problem to which we add new insights with this work. Furthermore, we produce a substantial experimental investigation of real world data.     Mean-field expansion in Bose-Einstein condensates with finite-range interactions

    We present a formal derivation of the mean-field expansion for dilute Bose-Einstein condensates with two-particle interaction potentials which are weak and finite-range, but otherwise arbitrary. The expansion allows for a controlled investigation of the impact of microscopic interaction details (e.g., the scaling behavior) on the mean-field approach and the induced higher-order corrections beyond the s-wave scattering approximation.Comment: 6 pages of RevTex4; extended discussion, added reference
