Preliminary design study of a regenerative life support system information management and display system

    Get PDF
The instrumentation requirements for a regenerative life support systems were studied to provide the earliest possible indication of a malfunction that will permit degradation of the environment. Four categories of parameters were investigated: environmental parameters that directly and immediately influence the health and safety of the cabin crew; subsystems' inputs to the cabin that directly maintain the cabin environmental parameters; indications for maintenance or repair; and parameters useful as diagnostic indicators. A data averager concept is introduced which provides a moving average of parameter values that is not influenced by spurious changes, and is convenient for detecting parameter rates of change. A system is included to provide alarms at preselected parameter levels

This paper addresses an offset-compensated comparator with full-input range in the 150nm FDSOI CMOS- 3D technology from MIT- Lincoln Laboratory. The comparator discussed here makes part of a vision system. Its architecture is that of a self-biased inverter with dynamic offset correction. At simulation level, the comparator can reach a resolution of 0.1mV in an area of approximately 220μm2 with a time response of less than 40ns and a static power dissipation of 1.125μW

A solid-state digital temperature recorder for space use

A solid-state, digital, temperature recorder has been developed for use in space experiments. The recorder is completely self-contained and includes a temperature sensor; all necessary electronics for signal conditioning, processing, storing, control and timing; and a battery power supply. No electrical interfacing with the particular spacecraft on which the unit is used is required. The recorder is small, light, and sturdy, and has no moving parts. It uses only biocompatible materials and has passed vibration and shock spaceflight qualification tests. The unit is capable of storing 2048, -10 to +45 C, 8-bit temperature measurements taken at intervals selectable by factors of 2 from 1.875 to 240 min; data can be retained for at least 6 months. The basic recorder can be simplified to accommodate a variety of applications by adding memory to allow more data to be recorded, by changing the front end to permit measurements other than temperature to be made, and by using different batteries to realize various operating periods. Stored flight data are read out from the recorder by means of a ground read-out unit

Defibrillators are electronic devices that carry shock electrical signals (pulses) to the heart muscle to maintain myocardial depolarization that is undergoing cardiac fibrillation (ventricular fibrillation or atrial fibrillation) (Bronzino, 2000). There are several conditions that must be met for the occurrence of shock processes including shock time, energy to be provided, patient and operator safety. In this defibrillator the use of selectors / energy selection is linear in the range 1-30 Joules with the use of tools at 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 Joules. The energy will then be discarded or given to the patient via a paddle when pressed the Discharge / shock button. The result of the signal given to the patient is monophasic. This study used a pre-experimental type with a One Group post test design research design. Measurements were made 5 times the volt meter at the test points determined by the compiler

Patient Monitor for SpO2 and Temperature Parameters

Patient monitor is an apparatus used to monitor the patient\u27s condition in real-time, hence the patient\u27s physiological conditions can be identified at that time. The purpose of this study is to design a patient monitor for SpO2 and temperature parameters based on computer with Delphi progaming. In this work, the author developed  patient monitor with two parameters (SpO2 and Temperature). The workings of this tool are very simple by installing the finger sensor on the finger and the temperature sensor in the armpit area will then be detected by the two sensors that will be displayed on the PC and LCD Characters, analog data from the ADC Atmega is received by the personal computer (PC) via Bluetooth HC -05 and values per parameter are also displayed on the Character LCD. After measuring, get an error in the tool, the biggest SpO2 error of this tool is 1.02% and get the smallest error of 0.8%. And for the biggest error of Temperature of 1.02% and the smallest error of 0.8%

A Bio-Inspired Vision Sensor With Dual Operation and Readout Modes

    Get PDF
This paper presents a novel event-based vision sensor with two operation modes: intensity mode and spatial contrast detection. They can be combined with two different readout approaches: pulse density modulation and time-to-first spike. The sensor is conceived to be a node of an smart camera network made up of several independent an autonomous nodes that send information to a central one. The user can toggle the operation and the readout modes with two control bits. The sensor has low latency (below 1 ms under average illumination conditions), low power consumption (19 mA), and reduced data flow, when detecting spatial contrast. A new approach to compute the spatial contrast based on inter-pixel event communication less prone to mismatch effects than diffusive networks is proposed. The sensor was fabricated in the standard AMS4M2P 0.35-um process. A detailed system-level description and experimental results are provided.Office of Naval Research (USA) N00014-14-1-0355Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad TEC2012- 38921-C02-02, P12-TIC-2338, IPT-2011-1625-43000
