    The introduction of the mobile devices into the electronic commerce arena has allowed the user to go on the Web as well as shopping on the Web using their cell phones, Personals Digital Assistants (PDAs) or combo devices without needing a wired Internet connection and stationary desktop or a laptop computer. In order to give customer's convenience, service providers and also value-added services include easy, timely access to information in a way enable customer to make purchase from whenever they are whenever they are ready. The author here will develop an instant music CD purchasing via mobile phone application by using Wireless Markup Language (WML) as a programming tool. The technique that has been adopted is based on Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) as global standards for mobile solutions. The result of the study has proven that in order to captivate users' attention towards legal music CD purchasing through the web via mobile, design of the interface has given an impact towards the adaptation of content presentation by implementing HCI elements. Therefore, the design of the interface and content according to one's preference plays an important role in enhancing users' "browse and buy" experience at any desired time and needs. The study done towards the implementation of design guidelines for wireless application which is in general, interface design flaws are platform independent has also proven that the design best applied depends on the form factors of the wireless mobile phones.     NFV Based Gateways for Virtualized Wireless Sensors Networks: A Case Study

    Virtualization enables the sharing of a same wireless sensor network (WSN) by multiple applications. However, in heterogeneous environments, virtualized wireless sensor networks (VWSN) raises new challenges such as the need for on-the-fly, dynamic, elastic and scalable provisioning of gateways. Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) is an emerging paradigm that can certainly aid in tackling these new challenges. It leverages standard virtualization technology to consolidate special-purpose network elements on top of commodity hardware. This article presents a case study on NFV based gateways for VWSNs. In the study, a VWSN gateway provider, operates and manages an NFV based infrastructure. We use two different brands of wireless sensors. The NFV infrastructure makes possible the dynamic, elastic and scalable deployment of gateway modules in this heterogeneous VWSN environment.     Work In Progress: Combining Concept Inventories with Rapid Feedback to Enhance Learning

    In this project our goal is to adapt the Concept Inventory for frequent classroom use, and to implement it in a system to provide rapid feedback to students of their understanding of key concepts being presented. The feedback system acts as the focal point and catalyst to encourage students, working in pairs, to assist each other in correcting misconceptions or deepening each other’s understanding of the topic at hand. Furthermore, the system allows the professor to assess the students’ level of comprehension (or misconception) in a just-in-time fashion, and thus guides his or her pacing and coverage of the material. The rapid feedback is enabled through wireless-networked handheld computers. In this first year of the study, we have implemented the system in a lower-level, core-engineering course (engineering mechanics: statics). This paper will focus on the motivation for and the design of this project; our presentation will describe results from the first implementation

    Since independence, an average of 50% of registered voters participates in voting [1]. Similarly, an increasing rate of apathy was observed between the electorate and the elect, which was not unconnected with lack of transparency, accountability, and probity on the part of government [2]. Thus the electorate did not see the need to subject itself to any stress. Consequently, government is very committed to implementing the forth coming elections through e-voting. This paper proposes the prospects of m-voting implementation in Nigeria through the use of mobile phones, PDAs, etc. with guaranteed security, secrecy, and convenience in a democratization process. It also reviews the level of adoption of GSM in Nigeria, the implication of voting through the GSM, and finally introducing m-voting innovation in the voting process to increase voters’ access and participation rate in election

    Mobile Agents for Mobile Tourists: A User Evaluation of Gulliver's Genie

    How mobile computing applications and services may be best designed, implemented and deployed remains the subject of much research. One alternative approach to developing software for mobile users that is receiving increasing attention from the research community is that of one based on intelligent agents. Recent advances in mobile computing technology have made such an approach feasible. We present an overview of the design and implementation of an archetypical mobile computing application, namely that of an electronic tourist guide. This guide is unique in that it comprises a suite of intelligent agents that conform to the strong intentional stance. However, the focus of this paper is primarily concerned with the results of detailed user evaluations conducted on this system. Within the literature, comprehensive evaluations of mobile context-sensitive systems are sparse and therefore, this paper seeks, in part, to address this deficiency
