A Data Warehouse Assistant Design System Based on Clover Model

Nowadays, Data Warehouse (DW) plays a crucial role in the process of decision making. However, their design remains a very delicate and difficult task either for expert or users. The goal of this paper is to propose a new approach based on the clover model, destined to assist users to design a DW. The proposed approach is based on two main steps. The first one aims to guide users in their choice of DW schema model. The second one aims to finalize the chosen model by offering to the designer views related to former successful DW design experiences.Comment: 15 Pages, IJDM

Boundary Interactions and Motors of Change in Requirements Elicitation: A Dynamic Perspective on Knowledge Sharing

The building of shared understanding between project stakeholders in the requirements elicitation phase is necessary for knowledge sharing and a key factor for successful information systems (IS) development. However, the processes that lead to shared understanding and successful knowledge sharing are still not well understood. We examine how stakeholders interact and use boundary objects during requirements elicitation in data warehouse development projects. We draw on Carlile’s (2004) framework for managing knowledge across boundaries and introduce the concept of brokering situations. Using the concept of brokering situations, we examine how shared understanding develops and knowledge is shared through the interplay of brokers, their individual knowledge, and boundary objects as well as through the alignment of project participants’ situation models. We contribute to the literature on knowledge sharing and requirements elicitation in three ways: by introducing the concept of brokering situations; by developing a theoretical framework – the boundary interaction framework – that provides an analytical perspective on the dynamics of knowledge sharing in requirements elicitation; and by applying the framework to show that both goal-driven (teleological) and conflict-driven (dialectical) motors of change explain process progress and the changes of brokers as well as boundary objects during the building of shared understanding

Integrity within employees is on the forefront as a person with integrity is one that is honest and trustworthy. In contrast is an employee with low integrity that could be associated with acts of fraud, corruption and theft. The purpose of this report is to address the proposition that higher integrity levels within employees will lead to lower financial stock losses. In addition the integrity levels of all employees were measured to see whether the integrity level of permanent employees were higher than those of temporary employees. Strategies were implemented in order to develop the integrity level of Clover Nelspruit’s employees. The strategies included addressing the situational factors desirability, group norms and risk together with focusing on communication regarding integrity. The monthly averaged stock loss for the period June to September 05 was considerably lower than the previous eleven months which led to the confirmation that improving a person’s integrity can be positively associated with lower financial losses caused by internal theft. In considering only the employees who passed the lie factor in the measurement instrument the results were also in agreement with the theory that temporary workers might be more likely to engage in counterproductive behaviour than those employed as permanent workers
