Development of the Availability Concept by Using Fuzzy Theory with AHP Correction, a Case Study: Bulldozers in the Open-Pit Lignite Mine

Availability is one of the most used terms in maintainability engineering. This concept is used to denote: The quality of service of an engineering system, i.e., machines, weak points' analysis, asset management, as well as making decisions in the process of life cycle management. Availability is an overall indicator and contains partial indicators that are oriented towards reliability, maintenance, and logistical support. Availability presents a variable value and changes in time and space. Usually, availability is shown as the coefficient of time use of the machine. This approach is not good enough because it does not go into the structure of the availability itself and requires a high level of IT support in system monitoring. In this sense, this paper will use the fuzzy theory and the corresponding analytic hierarchy process (AHP) multi-criteria analysis to present a conceptual and mathematical model for the assessment of availability based on expert judgment. The model will be shown in the case study (on the example) of bulldozers working in the open-pit lignite mine

A conceptual model of suicide in rural areas

Context: Suicide is an important public health issue among rural communities although there is no single pattern of suicide in rural areas. Despite this, there are common themes in much of the research evidence on suicide in rural areas. From the published research in the area, a conceptual model of rural suicide has been developed which can be used by clinical and public health services when considering possible routes of intervention.Issue: A conceptual model can be defined as 'a type of diagram which shows a set of relationships between factors that are believed to impact or lead to a target condition'. The model presented here uses the 'Cry of pain/ Entrapment' model of suicide risk to build a framework of factors which are associated with suicide in rural areas. Cross-setting factors associated with suicide rates include gender, poverty, mental illness, substance use, biological factors including apparent genetic risk, coping skills and media coverage of suicide. There are, however, other factors that appear to have particular importance in rural areas. These include rural stressors, such as isolation and political and social exclusion; factors affecting support, including social support, cultural norms on help-seeking, stigma associated with mental illness service availability; factors affecting the decision to self-harm, including modelling and cultural views on self-harm, and issues affecting the likelihood of self-harm resulting in death, including method availability, norms on methods of self-harm and treatment availability after harm occurs. Identifying which of these areas are the greatest local priorities helps to target activity.Lessons learned: This model provides a way of considering suicide in rural areas. Local staff can use it to consider which issues are most relevant to their area. It allows classification of existing interventions, and deciding which other areas of work might be of local value. For researchers and service planners, it provides a way of classifying interventions and describing projects

Shortages of Rural Mental Health Professionals

This study presents a conceptual model of the supply and demand for mental health professionals. It uses national data to profile differences in the supply of mental health professionals in different types of rural and urban areas. It contrasts the availability of general health and mental health professionals. It examines shortage areas identified in 2000 and their related community characteristics. Because of the absence of data on a national level to describe many types of mental health professionals state licensure data for one state were used to show the volume and distribution of these practitioners. To improve rural mental health service delivery it will be necessary to implement system changes to promote the increased availability, competency, and support of rural health professionals.mental health, rural

Deterministic Modeling for Evaluating Consumers’ Attitude towards Telecommunication Service in Bangladesh

    Get PDF
This study is conducted empirically for measuring consumers’ attitude towards telecommunication service in Bangladesh. A conceptual model has been developed based on two constructs. Telecommunication service related intrinsic and intrinsic constructs where five individual attributes (network availability, service quality, service charge strategies, offered value, brand image) are included. A series of analysis technique (arithmetic means) are used to find out the weighted average of intrinsic & extrinsic attributes, which are considered by Bangladeshi consumers for using telecommunication service. Fishbein’s Multiattribute Attitude Model has been used for measuring the overall attitude of consumers toward telecommunication service in Bangladesh, which could help for successful business operations, management, and long-term sustainability of attitude measurement in order to improve product or service quality as per consumer expectation leve

Information Practices and Digital Perspectives of Municipal Waste Recovery Providers in Europe

The priority of modern business systems of municipal waste management is recycling of waste materials while the imperative of their mission is determined by the degree of digital transformation which enables their reproduction, distribution, usage, and storage of information in digital form, as well as new ways of digital communication with the general public. In this paper the focus is on examining the information practices and digital perspectives of municipal waste recycling service providers in Europe. The goal of this paper was to detect information concepts relevant for establishing the degree of their digital maturity. Five data classes were created for the purpose of content analysis method to conduct research on practices on digital communication channels in seven countries to evaluate their availability and accuracy. The designed information model defines a unique conceptual framework of the digital communication information set of the municipal waste recycling service providers
