    A Conceptual Framework to Support Digital Transformation in Manufacturing Using an Integrated Business Process Management Approach

    Digital transformation is no longer a future trend, as it has become a necessity for businesses to grow and remain competitive in the market. The fourth industrial revolution, called Industry 4.0, is at the heart of this transformation, and is supporting organizations in achieving benefits that were unthinkable a few years ago. The impact of Industry 4.0 enabling technologies in the manufacturing sector is undeniable, and their correct use offers benefits such as improved productivity and asset performance, reduced inefficiencies, lower production and maintenance costs, while enhancing system agility and flexibility. However, organizations have found the move towards digital transformation extremely challenging for several reasons, including a lack of standardized implementation protocols, emphasis on the introduction of new technologies without assessing their role within the business, the compartmentalization of digital initiatives from the rest of the business, and the large-scale implementation of digitalization without a realistic view of return on investment. To instill confidence and reduce the anxiety surrounding Industry 4.0 implementation in the manufacturing sector, this paper presents a conceptual framework based on business process management (BPM). The framework is informed by a content-centric literature review of Industry 4.0 technologies, its design principles, and BPM method. This integrated framework incorporates the factors that are often overlooked during digital transformation and presents a structured methodology that can be employed by manufacturing organizations to facilitate their transition towards Industry 4.0

    Denne avhandlingen omhandler eCoaching for personlig livsstilsstøtte i sanntid ved bruk av informasjons- og kommunikasjonsteknologi. Utfordringen er å designe, utvikle og teknisk evaluere en prototyp av en intelligent eCoach som automatisk genererer personlige og evidensbaserte anbefalinger til en bedre livsstil. Den utviklede løsningen er fokusert på forbedring av fysisk aktivitet. Prototypen bruker bærbare medisinske aktivitetssensorer. De innsamlede data blir semantisk representert og kunstig intelligente algoritmer genererer automatisk meningsfulle, personlige og kontekstbaserte anbefalinger for mindre stillesittende tid. Oppgaven bruker den veletablerte designvitenskapelige forskningsmetodikken for å utvikle teoretiske grunnlag og praktiske implementeringer.     Investigating resilience patterns based on within-subject changes in sleep and resting heart rate variability

    Occupational stress can cause all kinds of health problems. Resilience interventions that help employees deal with and adapt to adverse events can prevent these negative consequences. Due to advances in sensor technology and smartphone applications, relatively unobtrusive self-monitoring of resilience-related outcomes is possible. With models that can recognize intra-individual changes in these outcomes and relate them to causal factors within the employee’s own context, an automated resilience intervention that gives personalized, just-in-time feedback can be developed. The Wearables and app-based resilience Modelling in employees (WearMe) project aims to develop such models. A cyclical conceptual framework based on existing theories of stress and resilience is presented, as the basis for the WearMe project. The included concepts are operationalized and measured using sleep tracking (Fitbit Charge 2), heart rate variability measurements (Elite HRV + Polar H7) and Ecological Momentary Assessment (mobile app), administered in the morning (7 questions) and evening (12 questions). The first (ongoing) study within the WearMe project investigates the feasibility of the developed measurement cycle and explores the development of such models in social studies students that are on their first major internship. Analyses will target the development of both within-subject (n=1) models, as well as between-subjects models. The first results will be shared at the Health By Tech 2019 conference in Groningen. If successful, future work will focus on further developing these models and eventually exploring the effectiveness of the envisioned personalized resilience system

    From the locker room to the boardroom: developing leaders through sport

    The concept of the `sport business metaphor' refers to the extensive use of sport analogies in the corporate sector and represents the way in which positive attitudes to sport are embedded in corporate culture. Whilst positive perceptions of sport have permeated corporate culture in many ways and attitudes towards sport are clearly positive, the concept has never been empirically researched. The purpose of this study was to empirically research the `sport business metaphor' and provide insight into the values it embodied. The research used a mixed-methods strategy that involved three phases. The first, a systematic review, identified the skills that were perceived to be characteristic of an effective manager. The second used semi-structured interviews with sport coaches and business recruiters to ascertain whether sport was perceived to develop the skills that were identified by the systematic review. The third and final phase used the Multi- Factor Leadership Questionnaire to measure perceptions of leadership in athletes and nonathletes, and reflected findings that leadership was the skill desired most by the corporate sector in the first two phases of research. Findings indicated that the corporate sector, as reflected in the literature and interviews, perceived sport to develop the skills that they perceived as desirable. Significant differences in SELF and OTHERS ratings of perceptions of leadership in athletes and non-athletes further strengthened these findings, by reporting that athletes scored higher in all measures of transformational leadership. These results provided valuable insight into the values that the `sport business metaphor' embodied.     Wearables at work:preferences from an employee’s perspective

    This exploratory study aims to obtain a first impression of the wishes and needs of employees on the use of wearables at work for health promotion. 76 employ-ees with a mean age of 40 years old (SD ±11.7) filled in a survey after trying out a wearable. Most employees see the potential of using wearable devices for workplace health promotion. However, according to employees, some negative aspects should be overcome before wearables can effectively contribute to health promotion. The most mentioned negative aspects were poor visualization and un-pleasantness of wearing. Specifically for the workplace, employees were con-cerned about the privacy of data collection
