The Use of Speciality K-Flute as a Substitute for Common Grades of Single Wall and Double Wall
This study examines a new corrugated flute profile known as K flute. The purpose of the study was to show that K flute can maintain the same structural integrity and use significantly less paper. The main tests performed were tests for compression strength. Studying the results of compression testing, allows the designer to engineer the corrugated container to meet the performance level required. The study consists of two parts. The first part of the study examines the effect of an increase in caliper has on Edgwise Compression Testing (ECT). It was found that K flute tested 5% stronger than A flute, 22% stronger than C flute, 40% stronger than B flute. The next part of the study compared K flute as a substitute for commonly used grades of singlewall and doublewall, the results of the comparison are as follows: 275lb C vs 200lb K, the K flute tested 18% less in compression strength, used 61% less paper in the liner and 7.6% more in the medium. In the next comparison, 200lb BC vs 2001b K, the K flute tested 42% less in compression strength, used 18% less paper in the liner and 80% less paper in the medium. 200lb A vs 2001b K, the K flute tested 7% stronger in compression strength, it used 0% less paper in the liner and 2% less paper in the medium. 275lb BC vs 44ECT K, the K flute tested 23% less in compression strength, K flute used 3.6% more paper in the liner and 80% less in the medium
Business intelligence’s Self-Service tools evaluation
This project proposes a comparison analysis between 4 different tools, called Self-Service tools, from the Business Intelligence area. The comparison is done adapting a Systemic Quality Model and using some datasets simulated with R. The project was developed in a company
Applications of game theory, tableau, analytics, and R to fashion design, 2018
This thesis presents various models to the fashion industry to predict the profits for some products. To determine the expected performance of each product in 2016, we used tools of game theory to help us identify the expected value. We went further and performed a simple linear regression and used scatter plots to help us predict further the performance of the products of Prada. We used tools of game theory, analytics, and statistics to help us predict the performance of some of Prada's products. We also used the Tableau platform to visualize an overview of the products' performances. All of these tools were used to aid in finding better predictions of Prada's product performances. Fiscal stabilization and exchange rate instability
The aim of this paper is to examine the implications for certain key macroeconomic variables in relation to reductions in public spending. In particular, the paper looks at; the rate of inflation, the interest rate, and the rate of growth of real GNP. The paper develops an intertemporal general equilibrium model that is used to analyze reductions in government spending and the implications for the exchange rate and the balance of payments of these reductions. Section II gives a brief review of background literature and provides an intuitive explanation of our model. Section III formally derives the analytics of the model, while Section IV sketches a proof of the existence of an intertemporal equilibrium. Section V gives some policy simulations using Mexican data, and finally, Section VI concludes the paper.Economic Stabilization,Banks&Banking Reform,Public Sector Economics&Finance,Economic Theory&Research,Environmental Economics&Policies
Stock Marketing Prediction Using Narx Algorithm
Computational technologies have offered faster and efficient solutions to financial sector. In the financial market, the advancements in computational field have been achieved by the use of neural networks and machine learning that delivered a number of financial tools. Thus, in this thesis, we aim to predict the stock index marketing for the “Dow Jones” index by using deep learning algorithms. We propose a model based on an adaptive NARX neural network to predict the closing price of a moderately stable market. In our model, non-linear auto regressive exogenous input model inserts delays into the input as well as the output acting as memory slots thereby raising the accuracy of the prediction. Moreover, Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm has been used for training the network. The accuracy of the model is determined by the mean squared error. We also used LR model, with the same parameters as NARX, to improve the overall accuracy
Almost commutative Riemannian geometry: wave operators
Associated to any (pseudo)-Riemannian manifold of dimension is an
-dimensional noncommutative differential structure (\Omega^1,\extd) on
the manifold, with the extra dimension encoding the classical Laplacian as a
noncommutative `vector field'. We use the classical connection, Ricci tensor
and Hodge Laplacian to construct (\Omega^2,\extd) and a natural
noncommutative torsion free connection on . We show
that its generalised braiding \sigma:\Omega^1\tens\Omega^1\to
\Omega^1\tens\Omega^1 obeys the quantum Yang-Baxter or braid relations only
when the original is flat, i.e their failure is governed by the Riemann
curvature, and that \sigma^2=\id only when is Einstein. We show that if
has a conformal Killing vector field then the cross product algebra
viewed as a noncommutative analogue of has a
natural -dimensional calculus extending and a natural spacetime
Laplacian now directly defined by the extra dimension. The case
recovers the Majid-Ruegg bicrossproduct flat spacetime model and the
wave-operator used in its variable speed of light preduction, but now as an
example of a general construction. As an application we construct the wave
operator on a noncommutative Schwarzschild black hole and take a first look at
its features. It appears that the infinite classical redshift/time dilation
factor at the event horizon is made finite.Comment: 39 pages, 4 pdf images. Removed previous Sections 5.1-5.2 to a
