Hand Image Feature for Human Identification

    Get PDF
This paper presents an algorithm for efficient personal identification using robust hand features. The feature is extracted from hand boundary points and print of hand palm. The centre of gravity of the edge map of the hand image is determined to serve as a reference point. Thereafter City block distances between the reference point and hand boundary points are found. These distance feature vectors are compared using Euclidean distance measure for effective image classification. The proposed algorithm will improve personal identification in access control and attendance recor

A New Born Child Authentication System using Image Processing

    Get PDF
The Missing, swapping, mixing, and illegal adoption of new born child is a global challenge and research done to solve this issue is minimal and least reported in the literature. As per our knowledge, there is no biometric system currently available that can be effectively used for new born child identification. The manual procedure of capturing inked footprints in practice for this purpose is limited for use inside hospitals and is not an effective solution for identification purposes. Hence, a new born child personal authentication system is proposed for this issue based on multi biometrics. The biometric traits considered are the footprint of the new born child and the fingerprint of the mother. An appropriate fusion scheme is implemented to overcome the drawbacks of a single modality. The experimental results are promising and prove to be an effective system

Review of Multimodal Biometric Identification Using Hand Feature and Face

In the era of Information Technology, openness of the information is a major concern. As the confidentiality and integrity of the information is critically important, it has to be secured from unauthorized access. Security refers to prohibit some unauthorized persons from some important data or from some precious assets. So we need accurateness on automatic personal identification in various applications such as ATM, driving license, passports, citizen's card, cellular telephones, voter's ID card etc. Unimodal system carries some problems such as Noise in sensed data, Intra-class variations, Inter-class similarities, Non-universality and Spoof attacks. The accuracy of system is improved by combining different biometric traits which are called multimodal. This system gives more accuracy as it would be difficult for imposter to spoof multiple biometric traits simultaneously. This paper reviews different methods for fusion of biometric traits

A Survey Paper on Palm Prints Based Biometric Authentication System

In this paper we are providing an approach for authentication using palm prints. Reliability in computer aided personal authentication is becoming increasingly important in the information-based world, for effective security system. Biometrics is physiological characteristics of human beings, unique for every individual that are usually time invariant and easy to acquire. Palm print is one of the relatively new physiological biometrics due to its stable and unique characteristics. The rich information of palm print offers one of the powerful means in personal recognition
